Patrick Bamford - Back at Chelsea?

If Bamford can't get in Palace's team even for 5 mins every few matches I dont think Jose will have any faith in him either. All very depressing!!

He looked good when he came on for palace yesterday. Certainly if he can't get a first team spot at palace between now and January we should bring him back and get rid of falcao. Give him a chance see how it goes. I think next summer if it hasn't worked out we should sell him with a buy back clause. I truly believe he can be a top and player but continuous loans are not good for his development. Needs to be settled, hopefully with us, if not somewhere else.

I'm not sure coming back to us is such a good idea at the moment. He might be better off in an environment that is under less scrutiny and with a better atmosphere. It can't be a joy to go to training for Chelsea players.

Plus the eternal question: will Mourinho play him? Will another manager?

He came on against Leicester and did more or less nothing.

So based on that he shouldn't get a chance here?

Bring him in and bin Falcao, will save a fortune in the process.

Not as if Falcao is doing anything of note here anyway, at Least Bamford can improve and get better whereas Falcao is on the rapid decline.

Of course not, I was merely reporting on what I saw. To his credit he was more dangerous than Frazier Campbell, although that isn't saying a great deal.

He fired off a couple of fairly harmless shots with which Schmeichel had no problem but his contribution didn't really amount to any more than that. In his defence Leicester scored not long after he came on, so a team which was already not particularly interested in playing out from the back was then more compact than ever. This was a decent opportunity; he got over half an hour of game time, and Gayle, Wickham, and Chamakh were all unavailable. It's a shame he couldn't capitalise on it.

Got to admit he looked out of his depth against city, ran about a lot, achieved very little of note.

Thats how hes looked every chance hes gotten so far. Some say he cant be worse then Falcao, Im not sure thats true. He would be a lot cheaper though

Patrick Bamford announced on Monday night that he was leaving Crystal Palace and returning to Chelsea before he had even notified manager Alan Pardew.

The striker’s claim that he was ending his season-long loan at Selhurst Park early came on a day when he missed the perfect chance to score his first goal for the south London club. On as half-time substitute for Marouane Chamakh, Bamford shot directly at Lukasz Fabianski after the ball had fallen to him just 10 yards out.

“This was my last game for Palace,” Bamford, 22, said. “If I were being honest, it has been terrible. No one wants to sit on the bench and not play.

“It was my decision. The coaches have just found out – I have told them I am going. The gaffer hasn’t actually spoken to me. I will go in and say bye now. But I think it will be fine. Shake hands and say it didn’t work out. No hard feelings."

Well that loan was a bit of a disaster...seems to be a recurring theme frustratingly.

What next then? Does he stick around as back-up, given how threadbare our striking options are? Or do we loan out to a Championship team to help rebuild confidence? I would go for option 1, seeing as McEachran and Chalobah both stagnated after going back to the Championship. Not holding my breath though.

In all honesty, from the little I've seen, I can't really get excited about Bamford. I hope I'm wrong, but there doesn't seem to be much that really stands out with him and you've got to have a bit more than decent movement and a decent finish in a side like Chelsea.

Just my two-cents.

Give him a shot, he deserves it.

While I have some sympathy for him, you can't say he deserves a shot at chelsea when he's not been able to get into a palace side ahead of someone as sh*t as Connor Wickham...bet he goes back to boro on loan

This line if thought would have kane still playing lower league football and think about vardy. It's about timing and trust

Both Kane and Barkley had uninspiring loans before breaking through. Agree its about the coach trusting the young player.

Can only blame the club sending him to Palace, wrong style of rugby  football.   Another youngster losing confidence, our youth policy regarding loanee's really needs a review and a shakeup.   Bring all the kids back in the Summer and keep a good number and give them a chance.  Building a dynasty doesn't include keeping the pensioners.

That's assuming you trust Pardew's judgment. Frankly I think he's a tool and the fact he never gave Bamford a proper go over Gale, Wickham or Chamak none of whom are scoring might say more about him than Bamford.

The lad didn't become sh*t overnight and the fact he has cut his loan short rather than sat it out shows ambition in my opinion.

We could do worse than give him a go, it's not like he'd be worse than Falcao....

No cos Kane actually played at the clubs he went to..by the same logic, Chalobah should be in the team too

Up until now Bamford was quality at MK Dons, Derby and last year top scorer and player of the year at Middlesboro. That's actually a better and more consistent run than Kane.
