April 8, 201610 yr talk of him possibly leaving for china super league. if he wants to go and china want him, then i think that transfer could bring us in a huge fee.
April 8, 201610 yr Surely he wouldn't move to China? Spain I'd think he will go if we sell (Hope we don't as who else do we have who can score goals?).
April 8, 201610 yr He won't go to China, he's too young. We can't sell everyone, especially a striker who scores goals. It's hard enough getting a striker that can score goals as it is.
April 8, 201610 yr I think he is someone who could potentially work really well with Conte. You look at his time with Atletico and how he was with Simeone. Both managers have that aggressive, no nonsense look about them who players tend to strive to impress. The only potential downside would be the discipline both on the pitch and off it but I’m sure the latter could be easily changed. I suppose it all comes down to the man himself and what he wants, if it’s Spain then what can we do? Refuse and have him down tools like under Jose? That’s no use to anyone.
April 8, 201610 yr I don't think he wants to leave Chelsea as much as he wants to be rid of the English media.
April 11, 201610 yr I think the Swansea game showed how valuable Costa can be. Really hope we hang onto him and that Conte can get the best out of him the way Guus has.
April 11, 201610 yr I don't think he wants to leave Chelsea as much as he wants to be rid of the English media. They've really been nasty to him. The FA too, and I think part of it is due to media pressure. The two game ban was a disgrace. The media widely reported his alleged bite, but Gareth Barry saying that Costa didn't bite him got much less coverage. The majority of people who watched the game or heard about the bite probably don't even know that there was no bite. Credit to Barry for exonerating Diego. Too bad he seems to have annoyed the media and FA by doing that. I also think Costa is a victim of his looks. In this looks obsessed culture, he is automatically at a disadvantage. Let's face it, he looks like an older version of the Tasmanian Devil.
April 12, 201610 yr Can't believe some of you guys are happy to see Costa go. What makes you think it'll be easy to sign a striker who will comfortably bang in 15 - 20 goals every season? If Costa goes, we'll be back to the times when we didn't have a striker that was good enough to drag us through tough times. (Torres, Eto'o and Ba) Keep Costa, and get rid of goddamn Pato and Falcao! Sign a 3rd choice striker or promote Solanke (Don't think he's ready.)

We should be looking to keep Costa and refuse all offers for him.
April 12, 201610 yr The only way Costa go’s is if he doesn’t want to stay. In that instance I wouldn’t keep him as he’d worthless if not interested in the cause. Hopefully Conte appeals to his fighting style and he will want to get us back to where we should be. We won’t be able to replace his goals with the strikers available out there. His good points outweigh the bad, but he has had a very up and down season and at times is a liability. Of course I would have him ahead of Falcao, Remy and Pato (although in the case of Pato, he may come good enough to be a 2nd / 3rd choice) but I'm hoping Conte has a plan and a new striker in mind and we have back-up in Traore and or one of Solanke / Abraham.

He's not that kind of player. He doesnt carry a team or drag them through tough times because his game is dependent on players around him. He's the best at what he does well but THAT is not taking games over. Im either way on him going, on the one hand he's a great player, on the other he'll never have the potential influence some other strikers could have because of his skill set
April 17, 201610 yr Am I the only one who thought Costa was a disgrace yesterday? Hardly ran. Looked slow and unfit. Ponderous on the ball. Completely went through the motions. Embarrassing to be honest. If we can get £30-40m I'd happily take it and look elsewhere. Edited April 17, 201610 yr by jamie#8
April 17, 201610 yr He got absolutely zero service yesterday and that's not hyperbole, I can't remember him being given a single pass in anything approaching an attacking position. This leads to him coming deep or dropping wide where he gets horribly exposed for his lack of technical skill and removes his best attribute beings finishing.
April 17, 201610 yr Defoe has scored 16 goals in a struggling Sunderland side, id have loved him to sign for us, he'd be a great back up striker, instead we have sh*t like Falco & Pato.

Willian, Pedro and Fabregas were giving RLC the ball but he struggled to create any good chance for Costa.
April 17, 201610 yr Yeah, you are the only one who thought he was a disgrace. I blame RLC for Costa's poor game. Willian, Pedro and Fabregas were giving RLC the ball but he struggled to create any good chance for Costa. In not arguing that he got little service. I'm talking about his attitude. He didn't shut players down, he looked slow whenever he had the ball and constantly takes too many touches. He didn't break sweat. Showed no desire. Although some of the others weren't very good, at least they tried.

April 17, 201610 yr Should get the benefit of the doubt...not played for a month due to ban and international break and that's inevitably going to have an effect on match fitness/sharpness...broke up his run before that of 11 goals in 16

But when you don't create any chance for him, then there is no point in playing him at all.

Chelsea have been waiting for a good cross from William for how long? Let alone his free kicks. Fabregas was awful and can't play a midfield 2. Pedro isn't really a creative player. Apart from that why can't Costa chase things down, Vardy makes lots of chances by running defenders down.
