Davey Baby: "Stevie G - I adore him, I want to bear his children"

Featured Replies

I don't really agree with that Gem. He was happy when scoring at Old Trafford and kissing the camera...and p*ssed off when more-or-less conceding the title at Selhurst Park. To be expected, no?

I guess, I am also extremely, worryingly and sadly obsessed by abusing him so I will just and form my response without foaming.

I know it's not exactly the same but I once read a comment from Pink (the singer) who said that you can't invite the media for baby pictures (like OK magazine or whatever) and then expect privacy when you're out and about. I get the general point of that and agreed, if you invite the media in/play up to it when it suits don't expect them to back off when it doesn't. The media have no social conscience, they're not bothered if a baby is having hundreds of flash bulbs in their face.

Fans dish it out, players are entitled to give some back. He can have his dig. We had the last laugh anyway. He won the odd battle, and also won us a few, but we ultimately won the war. Goal aside, he was a passenger today, and is now non-threatening enough for our fans to actually clap him off the pitch. Is there anyone outside of Liverpool who still thinks he was better than Lampard? Or that he didn't make a massive booboo by not joining us when he had the chance?

The fans clapped him off and in his post-match went straight to talking sh*t, I wonder if those who gave him that small courtesy regret it now.

Come on mate. We've given him stick for ten years including 90 minutes today. Are we really expecting him to forget that and be grateful for 2 seconds of applause?

Agreed. I'd rather footballers be honest and fans learn to take a bit of stick when given back to them.

My mate said he's the greatest midfielder to ever grace the Premier League, Gerrards best skill is clearly to pull the wool over everyone's eyes

Must say it made me a little proud to see many fans clapping Gerrard off yesterday.

The game has become so tribal and it is nice on occasion, when appropriate to acknowledge another player's career. He has been a massive player for the English game, whether you like him or not.

It doesn't matter if Liverpool fans would do it for us or not, being bigger than that is what earns respect from peers.

Our club gets put in the dirt too much, moments like this help to show that we're not all bad eggs and there are many genuine decent football fans at our club.

Gerrards accolades mainly come from him being a decent English player in a team the press love to heap praise on, had Terry or Lampard been wearing their colours I can imagine they would be lamented even more.

He has always been a player I couldn't stand (and I really don't get carried away with hating opposition players) mainly because of the way he is always the media darling and even in games for the country he could pick up the man of the match for one decent pass when he done very little else.

I'm not surprised he belittled the show of class from our surrporters, he knows any future in the game he has will likely come from being that "faithful" one club through and through man and keeping the fans on side will help should he have his eye on a coaching role.

Not too fussed about it either way.

He can call us all the names under the sun, belittle our fans and club but at the end of the day we have won the EPL countless times now and he's never touched it once.

That will remain the case for the rest of his life and it will eat away at him every single day.

I LOVE that thought.

Honestly not arsed either way about his response. He got a tremendous gesture from the stadium and he chose his path.

He had to give a guard of honour, they won nothing this year, will not qualify for the CL, and was jeered with quality banter all game. He looked like he had the hump coming off, maybe he could have been a bit more gracious but I'd say it was all harmless. If we give a bit of banter we have to accept it in return.

Granted I've only seen the Gerrard interview once but I didn't find what he said was particularly vicious or aggressive, just a little dig at our fans who had been giving him abuse for 80 minutes. Not too fussed by it personally.

I'm not fussed with what he said either and I have an unhealthy loathing obsession with him. God I'll be happy when he's pissed off and I can start to function normally again.

Good point NM you need hate figures, otherwise matches lose abit of allure. It's kind of like how Man U be Arsenal games were awesome when they had Keane & Vieira but now they're just like any other game. I was actually hoping Matic and Yaya would become a new midfield rivalry but Yaya is off by the sounds of it.
