Radamel "the project" Falcao

Featured Replies

Perhaps the transfer was José's wedding gift to Mendes?

Same thought came to my mind earlier today; considering Ronaldo bought Mendes an Island giving Falcao a home even for a season is that much of a stretch.

Thought this would have more hits tonight....

Now Rads might get the start, plus (check  out his colombian bro James goals for RM tonight, omg), took his goal like the old El Tigré...

Very sharp chance for the goal. In terms of technical ability Falcao is light years above Costa, (and Torres). Would like to see him start regularly.

Loving your in depth analysis. You think Costa is a technically gifted footballer?

Let's face it, he isn't. He's a bully, he gets under the skin of defenders and is good at finishing generally. He knows how to score, and where the goal is.

Hazard is technically gifted. Costa is not. That said, Costa should always start over Falcao. A very good goal from him today though.

Blueblur we crossed opinions over Torres many times. I would simply ask that you give some of the same patience and support to Falcao.

I'll expand. Falcao's positioning is exactly what you want to see. The ball may or may not get, there, but invariably, he is in the right area. unlike Nando. He also has a trick or two the little dummy that didnt come off and the step round where he was fouled today are two examples. Costa doesn't have any tricks other than pulling a shirt or throwing the nut and wonderful as those gifts were last season EPL defenders seem to be getting wise to them. Personally I would play the two together. I think they could form a real dangerous partnership.

I do support him and will have patience but out of Costa and Falcao starting in PL games, there is no question.

Costa reminds me a lot of RVN, Can often look clumsy but will always take his chances. Plus he offers physical presence and work rate. I wouldn't say he's not technically gifted, he can be deceiving, but he'

's no aguero or Suarez. It might be my the tinted glasses of youth talking but I would say that in the mid 90's Costa wouldn't have got in to one of the top teams.

That said, I think Jose could do a lot worse then try out a diamond. It's not a formation he's unfamiliar with and I firmly believe Falcao is about to explode with goals

i'm starting to grow tired of costa's antics tbh. it is like he goes on the pitch looking for fights instead of goals, really irritating and that kind of thing doesn't help the team at all.

It was a nice header under difficult circumstances. Good for him, but it didn't pay off for us in the end.

However I hope he gets more game time. Costa needs to concentrate more on the game itself. By arguing with the referee he is just losing his focus.

Costa frequently dribbles past defenders, in fact he went on a great run only yesterday that nearly resulted in a goal. To say he's not technically gifted or light years behind Falcao in that department is just absolute nonsense.

Frequently is an overstatement. He does it occasionally. Usually he tries a dribble from the left wing, uses his pace and power to get away from the defender initially, but then tries to cut back inside and it all peters out.

I don't think he's any less technically gifted than Drogba. The only striker of Costa's size I can think of in recent years being far more technically gifted is Ibrahimovic.

Costa's technical ability is underrated. There's nothing to complain about.

If you want to discuss his antics, that's a different issue.

Falcao scoring was big for his confidence. I thought he had the right mindset and made good runs and decisions with the ball once subbed on.

That being said, I don't think we should be trying a 4-4-2. I don't think we're the right team for that, as it'd require Hazard to be much further back than he would like to be.

Not exactly setting the team alight is he. Got some decent link up play he plays like Torres - shy and timid when about to shoot.

It was worth the risk but I think he's finished at the highest level. Real shame.

Well he's only started the one game so far against Walsall where a good stop by the keeper and clearance off the line stopped him from scoring. He was making all the right runs and overall his contribution was positive.

Other than he's been limited to sub appearances generally when we've been losing and our approach play has descended into hoofing it forward and hoping for the best.

Really don't think we can be making too many judgement on him at the moment. When he has played, the movement is good, he's getting into positions where it's creating chances which is more than Torres did.

Don't think he's going to score loads but reckon he'll chip in with 10-15 this in all competitions depending on playing time.
