He gets in front of his man and all he has to do is get decent contact on the ball, and it's a goal. You don't need to be an elite player at heading the ball to score that. The second cross at 48 seconds is a bit more difficult, but again, he beats his man and should be getting on the end of it. The third at 1:15 is the worst of the lot. The cross is right into his feet, and Abraham's legs are flying all over the place. That's a sitter for me. These should not be difficult chances for strikers playing for a top 4 team. Every striker misses some chances they should score from, but I can't think of any strikers playing for our rivals that would miss all 3 of these chances. Crikey - that clip didn't do him any favors. Comes across as a very clumsy player to me, at times making Bakayoko look composed. Has goals in him and a good squad player, but he is not a top four striker. Just seems to make himself too busy flapping around - could do with spending some time with Silva on body positioning!

With the addition of Silva & Chiwell in defence who are both comfortable with the ball, Zouma & Silva have the most touches in our games. Last season every time the defenders were pressed they cleared it upfield for Giroud to hold up. Personally I hope Lamps starts Giroud against Sevilla so fans can understand why he isn’t starting him. Scoring clearly has its disadvantages to the team. Giroud is a good experienced striker who is good to have around the squad, whilst being more than capable of starting in some games.

December 2, 20205 yr I hope nobody takes Giroud's performance tonight as an opportunity to slag off Abraham...

I just pointed out the contrast between them. I think out of the two Giroud is so much more clinical. But it was nice to see Abraham go over and give him a hug after those 4 goals.

Very cute - love having them both in the squad.

Very cute - love having them both in the squad. No animosity in the squad at all I reckon. Tammy has a good attitude and is a great professional, even when he kicked up a bit of a fuss about the penalty situation at Palace, he listened to his captain and walked away (strikers instinct, nothing wrong with wanting to take the pen after having no luck in front of goal). So to see him go over to Giroud like that even though that game alone can minimise his game time this season is a great attitude. I just hope he can learn a lot from Giroud, Tammy definitely has time on his side. The good thing about Abraham is that he doesn't seem to go on goal droughts, he does usually always find his way to grabbing a goal every now and then.

Just basically ignore all the good stuff Tammy has done the past few seasons and slag him off because he had a bad game and Giroud had a good one, our fans are amazing arent they, probably the same fans who have been whining for years about giving youth a chance too.
December 3, 20205 yr At the end of the day... We have 3 really good striker options. All 3 of them have 18 goals combined so far, considering a normal season start it would've been about this time last month... So that's really good right? All 3 of our forwards are almost in double figures each and we're not halfway through the season. There's nobody to slag off here, Giroud also has terrible games.

December 3, 20205 yr Tammy is the future but not the first option. Werner and Giroud have impressed more.

Werner and Giroud have impressed more. “Tammy is the future” is an excellent point one that I think some miss. He has been excellent this season so far, link up and finishing. It’s important for him to mesh with the powerhouse Chels and Lamps are building so I have no issue with him seeing lots of game time. He missed a couple opportunities against the best defensive team in the prem. Tatter tots sat back the entire game, clearly they respected him and the attacking prowess of this team. If he isn’t seeing top comp he isn’t going to improve. No doubt that Giroud should get a run of games (after Leeds imo). Let’s not forget though Giroud could be gone next season. Tammy is the future!
