Are you saying James cant play behind the striker and that he doesnt like to cut in from the right on his preferred foot? Because thats usually the space in which he operates. Or are you saying you prefer Griezman who plays more of a second striker and also makes a ton of runs in behind the defense?

I personally would prefer Griezmann myself, but I think his style of play maybe suits us less in that Griezmans playing style wouldnt suit us as well as James. We already have a similar player in Pedro who is often less effective against teams defending in a low block. But we have nobody with the vision, passing and shooting ability that James has. And we dont have a single left footed attacker in the squadnot counting Traore on loan) and his set pieces are something we desperately lack. Overall I think James gives us more options and makes us a better, more well rounded as a team.

 

Sanchez is a pipedream, Wenger would rather lose him om a free then sell to us

No one saw Alonso and Luiz coming, so I'm not sure how well the press really know.

Rodriguez is surplus to requirements at Real, that much is clear. Nor will they make a profit on him.

I also see PSG as a good club to pick on, must be a bunch of talented under performing players there right now, albeit well paid

Mendes is James agent, theres very few people in Football I hate more then Jorges Mendes.

I know hes also Costas agent but when we sold Ramires and Jose left, I'm not sure if other than Costa, he represents any other Chelsea players.

Mendes is close enough with Jose so Utd could be a dark horse in this James saga yet.

Personally, I hope we do get him in January, he would push us on even further. If we got him on loan with an option to buy in the summer it woudl be ideal, just in case he puls a Pato and ends up being useless.

I'm saying what we need in that position is someone who can score a goal at any time just like Hazard can. Defenses sometimes load up on Hazard because they know Pedro/Willian are much less dangerous goal threats. We need to make sure every player in that front 3 can keep any defense honest. We have enough creativity around the team. We aren't in dire need of a #10 to play an inside forward role for us. I sincerely hope Conte doesn't go for James tbh.

I've always knew who Mendes were but never really paid much attention to him. He's like the super agent isn't he.

Forgive me if I'm not falling over myself at the prospect of James' supposed goal scoring prowess. He scores a worldie every now and then but really now? Again, I'd be happy to be proven wrong. I think we're being mugged off for 70m here.

I personally dont think hes "worth" 70 million either, and I hate to be the one who says this, but its not my money. Getting value for money these days is extremely difficult, United got mugged of big time this summer but in a few years will it matter? Our finances are solid, we are heading for the CL again and we have been offered a laughable amount for a fringe squad player. If you told me in the summer we might get James for Oscar and 15 mill I would be extatic. Lets face it, FFP is dead and if the board feel we can afford it, I dont feel like going all Wenger over the price

Why do people act like Rodriguez cant score he won the golden boot at the world cup ffs and scored 17 in his first season at Real, if he doesnt play he cant score...here is an idea if we get him...play him, he is a natural goal scorer more so than hazard, also he is a number 10..why couldnt he play Pedros position, you make no sense.

Please point me to the post where I've said he actually can't score? And how's he more of a natural goalscorer than Hazard? I bet you if you swapped James for Hazard in that same season in that Madrid team and in La Liga, he'd have hit 25+. Stop it.

 

I've acknowledged that he can in fact score goals. But he's nothing close to the 2 players I and a few others have expressed preference for (goal scoring wise at least). If you disagree with that, then I don't know what to tell you.

Several of these ITK Chelsea reporters claimed the Luiz rumours were completely BS 48 hours before he was at Cobham holding up the shirt. They are just guessing. nah, think it's not. it's just me trying to explain my post to you since you somehow took it as "an attempt to stop the discussion" 

Well we've a lot more money in the bank now thanks to Oscar heading to China.

If we are interested, I just hope we get it done early and we dont have a last day rush which in effect, would see James, if he or any other player joins, miss about 3 league games.

So I hope we spend the money quickly and wisely.
