January 15, 201610 yr Pato in London apparently. Saw it on twitter ffs looks like he is scoring, and not on the pitch !!
January 18, 201610 yr We should have paid 4M to get Austin. I mean if he's awful ( not possible to be as awful as Falcao), just write him off the next year for a tiny profit. It's a no brainer.
January 18, 201610 yr 4m for Austin is a steal. Out with Emenalo, hire the guy who negotiated that transfer
January 18, 201610 yr Can't believe we missed out on Austin for 4mil. Seems we'd rather pay 14mil for a washed up striker.
January 18, 201610 yr Why was he sold for 4, is the question I want answered. High wages? Wanted to leave, only has 6 months left on his contract, is currently injured/returning from injury and has long term injury concerns(been injured for half this season). and then the kicker, 'David Gold hints Charlie Austin's Southampton deal is not a bargain 'if his wages are £100,000 per week'' Edited January 18, 201610 yr by PedroMendez
January 18, 201610 yr He's been playing on the wing hasn't he? I doubt he can do any worse than Pedro. We know he has the talent, if he sets his mind right who knows what can happen. Hopefully he is motivated to the bone to prove the doubters wrong.
January 18, 201610 yr I thought we would of had Texiera closed by now but that seemed to have gone quiet. Maybe Pato is a replacement.
January 18, 201610 yr Kind of warming to the idea of pato tbh. Still looks very quick, is an excellent finisher, and is versatile enough to play anywhere in attack. He can't be any worse than pedro has been on the right, certainly not as lightweight. It looks like his injury problems are behind him aswell, and I would imagine he has a bit of a point to prove in Europe after his stock fell so dramatically. Surely we are due a gamble like this paying off.

Trouble is Pedro looked quick, strong and everything you say Pato is when he was in Spain. The EPL is a different animal and it's not clear cut how these players will do over here...Brazilians tend to be more miss than hit. That's a fair point, although I do think pato is a lot more physical than pedro, and he effectively cut his teeth in Italy which is more physical than spain. All transfers are hit and miss, I think it could be a gamble worth taking.

All transfers are hit and miss, I think it could be a gamble worth taking. Right now we might not have much choice as I can't think of anyone else who is available that is as versatile. I was looking forward to see if the Shaktar player would be coming in but that's gone pretty quiet and for the money maybe we are going to wait till the summer for those kind of moves.

This is incorrect actually, Pedro looked a lot better than he was because he was in a very good Barcelona team. My friend who is a massive La Liga fan said before he joined Chelsea that Pedro is up there with the most overrated players on the planet and he's been right, really.

My friend who is a massive La Liga fan said before he joined Chelsea that Pedro is up there with the most overrated players on the planet and he's been right, really. It's not incorrect at all. He looked a player in Spain and had very decent goal/assist stats to go with it. What was incorrect in what I said?
January 18, 201610 yr Never lived up to the hype really alot like Bojan who is doing well at stoke, Anyone remember when he destroyed the barca defence with lightening pace a while back.
January 19, 201610 yr It's not incorrect at all. He looked a player in Spain and had very decent goal/assist stats to go with it. What was incorrect in what I said? He looked a player in Spain because of the talent around him. It sounds very cliche but in Pedro's case, it's the truth. When you compare it to the players Barca, Madrid and even Atleti have now then his scoring/assists tally isn't even on the same wavelength. He was a decent player, i'm not saying otherwise but I knew he wouldn't be good enough for our first team. That being said for some reason, I am big fan of Pedro!
January 19, 201610 yr Why don't we buy players from the premier league who are proven and less of a gamble. ..
January 19, 201610 yr premier league defences are pretty poor at the moment so he could do well. when i watch his goals/skills for sao paulo you can see the potential and his ability, and he's still young, but it's another risk; albeit a relatively low financial risk. January 19, 201610 yr Why don't we buy players from the premier league who are proven and less of a gamble. .. Probably because with most Premier league clubs will demand huge fees, as the income they get will be quite different next season. If we went for someone like Ighalo we will probably be spending 20 million or so due to his form and what if he's a one season wonder? Sure Pato is not proven but he's alot cheaper and apparently is demanding cheap wages, if he does sign he's coming in as a potential Falcao replacement but more versatile. Falcao/Remy haven't played that much this season so he will probably end up as a bit part sub unless he impresses. You could say we should give Bamford and youngsters a chance, but I don't think any of them will dispose Costa or Remy for places so it maybe better if both of them get loan experience at a Premier league club with gaurenteed playing time. It's a hard decision to make, I don't see Bamford starting upfront for us against Arsenal sadly. I don't see him starting at all so is he best suited on loan as a starter? Like Lukaku at West Brom, if he does well then we have a big striker to play or sell for a large fee. Tough choice to make.
January 19, 201610 yr I have a hunch that this signing would work out. What's the reported figure, 10 million? I'd take the gamble for that money.
January 19, 201610 yr signing players is all a risk anyway, so why is this any different? we could go sign messi or neymar, but it's a risk because how do you know they will perform as well here as in spain? you don't, although you would expect them too.
January 19, 201610 yr I know youtube is no way to judge a player but you have to say he looks sharp and skilfull in the scout nation videos. Certainly doesn't look like a flop.
