February 15, 201610 yr Aurier won't play ever with PSG for sure, but I think It's a bad new for Chelsea. Marquinhos will have to show tomorrow that he has HIS place in the first squad... Can't PSG slot in Gregory van der Wiel in that RB position? I know he played there on Sat.
February 15, 201610 yr Can't PSG slot in Gregory van der Wiel in that RB position? I know he played there on Sat. Yes, this is one option but he played because Laurent Blanc put Aurier to rest. I don't think Laurent Blanc will put Van Der Wiel, he is the 3rd (and last) option for play at RB (until Aurier gate). He has defensively and concentration problems. To add something I didn't tell, many of french journalists think that there is something to do at the left (Baba), because Baba is young, lack of experiences, etc... Difficult to be disagree with them but I think Baba will surprise Edited February 15, 201610 yr by Baba
February 15, 201610 yr same fixture same stage last 2 seasons and not a fag paper to slip between the 2 sides, 2 years ago Chels went through on away goal rule last season they did present time - they having a much better season albeit in league 1 which has no competition for them, but Chels have had a mare of a season, so all the pundits and those who study form have Chels dead and buried already I'm not optimistic but I wasn't in 2012 either, but it is Cup football and hopefully the 1st leg will be just that, I want the tie to be decided back at the Bridge on March 9th , so with that in mind no pressure on the day and we can all enjoy a hopefully competitive and entertaining match tomorrow.
February 15, 201610 yr Big game this..CL the last hope of turning a bad season into a great one. We should stay compact and try to hit them on the break, we have the pace to do that..we must get an away goal as they prove vital come 2nd leg. I would be happy with a score draw or a 2-1 defeat. You don't have to be the best team or play the best football in Europe to win the competition & we proved that ourselves in 2012...as along as there is passion and desire and a wee bit of luck along the way it can be done. Keep the faith guys. KTBFFH.
February 15, 201610 yr Hi all, First time poster from Sydney, Australia. Looking forward to the game, will most certaintly be very tough. Unfortantely I am thinking it may end up 2-1 to PSG, but the away goal gives us great hope. Personally would love another Willian free-kick, what a season he is having!
February 15, 201610 yr I think we can come away with a result from this game. PSG have played second class teams all season in a MM league. I mean how embarrassing is it that they are 24 points clear of 2nd place, and the 2nd place club in nearer relegation than to them. I think we will give them something to wake them up from their non competitive joke of a league providing Gus doesn't go and play ultra defensive.
February 15, 201610 yr Big two games coming up for Chelsea. If we get PSG and City wrong, we'll have nothing to play for the rest of the season. Borrrring.
February 15, 201610 yr Losing the starting defenders for the game isn't ideal, but I'm optimistic about the tie. Despite where we are, I think we are in better form than we were this time last year. 12 months ago, it's when our form started to drop, Costa out of goals and players tiring. Right now we have more in form players than we had all season. They haven't been really tested by any teams in the league this season, there's no magic clutch to push them to top gear comes game time. I think a fit and focused Costa will do some damage against Silva/Luiz.
February 15, 201610 yr Our form this season has been nothing short of horrific, and an unbeaten run under Hiddink is doing nothing to paper over the fact that we are terrible. I always said that if we were to draw one of the European heavyweights assuming we progressed past the group stage, we would be embarrassed. PSG are in another class this season. PSG 5-0 Chelsea Better to go out now rather than play Barcelona or Bayern. I also believe that Terry coming back is going to be a burden. I would rather Ivanovic got shifted into the middle with Dave playing at right back. The team looks better offensively when Ivanovic isn't running up the wing and doing nothing with the ball. Hazard is also terrible at the moment. If we are to get anything out of the game I'd rather we see this team: Courtois Dave -- Cahill -- Ivan -- Rahman Loftus-Cheek -- Fabregas Willian -- Oscar -- Pedro Costa Give Pedro some time as he'll be sky high after his performance on Saturday, although he still needs to learn how to finish properly and control the ball. Mikel has to stay out of the side if any of us want to see any kind of urgency. Hazard will be better coming off the bench than offering nothing for 90 minutes. Terry will be looking slow coming back from that niggly injury. That is a simply atrocious post, you must of just done something terrible to vent such attrition, no matter how bad Newcastle were, that was as good a performance i have seen for ages, only thing i agree with , is Brana as CB, is great for Dave at RB, fans who needs fans like you...
February 15, 201610 yr yea that left side of the field gonna be huge tmr with lucas and or cavani against baba and hazard =s (if he plays at his normal position), i wouldnt be suprise to see oscar or pedro on the left once again ....lets go blues !!! remember we did loose 3-1 over there a couple years ago
February 16, 201610 yr Tough one especially when two key defenders out. Am truly hoping for an away goal at the very least.
February 16, 201610 yr Can't see anything but a psg win tonight 3-1. Just think our defense is too fragile.
February 16, 201610 yr Good morning fellow Chelsea fans ! First of all I would seize this opportunity to thank you and all Englishmen for your support and your thoughts back in November. Regarding the coming game, I think it will be a couple of fairly opened games and yes PSG is favorite as I assume most of football observers would consider it normal for the PSG to reach the 1/4 finals considering the current states of the two teams. I personally fear Chelsea a lot because you are more used to that kind of games than we are. I have read the previous comments and it seems that what you "fear" most is our midfield. We indeed have high quality players in that area but having Verratti and Pastore at a non 100% condition is a huge liability. Matuidi is seen by most of you as a top player but I (and many PSG observers) think he is just an ok player surrounded by formidable ones such as Motta and Verratti who are in an other league. Regarding the Aurier case: I couldn't care less about this player who is overvalued in my opinion. Marquinhos is a far better player, 10 times smarter, more precise and very difficult to overplay. He is a fantastic defense player that could be compared to Ivanovic somehow. Our team is better with Aurier off who concedes so many free kicks and relies only on his physical abilities to catch up with his misplacement on the pitch. Finally regarding our coach, Laurent Blanc's work is praised by most but I personally think his management over the last year is the cause of the loss of Cavani, Lavezzi and Pastore to some extent. So we show up against one of the most regular teams in CL with a row of three attackers/offensive midfield players (Ibra, Di Maria, Lucas/Cavani) with: - Ibra: not a single good set of games in the 2nd phase of the CL (except his two goals versus Arsenal when playing for Barcelona that I think you particularly enjoyed^^) - Lucas or Cavani : a disappointment. Lucas being Lucas and Cavani being the shadow of the player he used to be (I blame Blanc for that) when we could have relied on a fantastic four with Pastore, Di Maria, Ibra and Cavani would the team management have been any better. I wish the ones of you coming to the Parc des Princes a great journey and I hope we (PSG fans) would be able to welcome you properly and thank you for your nice gesture after the shootings. A great post and thanks for the update. Psg is fast becoming a regular in the latter stages of the champions league and also becoming a regular opponent of Chelsea. If nothing else both teams will learn a bit about their real strength.
February 16, 201610 yr Just believe and it will happen! GAMEDAY, Come on CHELS! Edited February 16, 201610 yr by IliyaKrostin

February 16, 201610 yr Game day Come on Chelsea I'd start with Courtois Azpi Cahill Ivan Rahman Mikel Fabregas Pedro Willian Hazard Costa Subs: Oscar RLC Traore I would play Hazard on the right and Pedro on he left but otherwise that is the exact team I would want to see and expect too see. Come on you blues!
February 16, 201610 yr There's a part of me that is a bit conflicted about this one. Beyond my obvious desire to see Chelsea win every match, beyond my feelings for my fellow supporters who I want to see happy, beyond by dislike for PSG and everything they stand for and beyond the pragmatic part of me that realises progression in this competition has obvious financial benefits.... Beyond all that there's part of me that thinks a real humbling might make the club rethink what it's doing in a number of areas. This season has been bad, actually it's been the worst I can remember, but I don't know if that will actually change anything. This competition still seems to hold sway over the owner though, as evidenced by 2012 and his appointment of Robbie after he won big ears despite him not being qualified in my opinion, and I think this might be the biggest wake-up call Roman could have that he's repeating the same mistakes time and time again. That's not going to be popular and like I said, it's just a small part of my thinking. Come kick off all the thoughts beyond those 105 minutes or so evaporate and it becomes about this result. But I'm not sure what a win does. We're not the best team in Europe by any stretch of the imagination but it's a cup competition and that doesn't always matter. Upsets happen. We could win the whole thing and everything is ok again, but I fear that were that to happen we get back on the cycle again. We may not even have to win it for the club to say that everything is fine, because it's in their best interests to maintain the status quo unless their name is Roman Abramovich. I'm sure not everyone agrees with my assessment of the club either. Some are quite happy to brush this season of as an anomaly, a one-off, that rough amidst the smooth and thank God we're not where we were in the mid-80s shouldn't we all be grateful. I don't think that though. I think this season was something of an inevitable consequence of years of mismanagement and that it might become something of the norm. Anyway, that's my morning coffee probably talking and if you've got this far then thanks for indulging me and yay for forums on the internet where we can shout into the ether. Fingers crossed that whatever result you want from tonight and this season you get. I just don't know what that is for me.
February 16, 201610 yr Don't see Hazard starting tonight. First of all, his head doesn't seem to be in the right place and secondly we need everyone to put in a great shift defensivly today and Hazard "cheats" there too. Think it will be Oscar, Willian and Pedro which i think is the right decision.
February 16, 201610 yr It's now obvious Baba will start. Whoever will play that left wing for us must be good defensively. I would have love Kennedy but he and Baba will be too inexperience and Blanc will desperately want to take advantage of that.

But for defensive qualities and based on form i cant disagree with you here. Those 3 are great at pressing when out of possession
February 16, 201610 yr This could be a long and painful night. Last season they outplayed us and we were lucky to escape with a draw. This season we have Terry missing, Zouma missing, Matic suspended and Hazard telling us he would like to play for PSG. All in all it's not looking good. Ivanovic and Cahill in central defense isn't our best combination.I would be happy with a draw but I think we could well get overrun tonight.COME ON YOU BLUES !!!
