Antonio Conte - Now Officially Manager

Featured Replies

I've always thought that Conte probably has drilled a certain mentality into every player: if you don't fight for every ball you've lost to win it back, jostle, track back and spill blood for the team for 90 mins every game, that they'll be dropped. Simple as that.

Because every time I watch us play now, that's what I see. It was especially evident during the Swansea game.

Agree 100%.  It was the most obvious difference between us and Arse when we played - their attitude when they hadn't got the ball as "someone get it and pass it to me" whereas ours was "Get out of the f**king way, I'm going to get it".

The winning mentality starts from him. That's what he brought.

Of course the guy says he can't sleep of he looses am sure not many manger's are like that today. Pretty sure Wenger slept like a baby after the Bayern thrashing

Where is the Orange One at? Now is the time we need him to spout Fake News Very Sad

This was somewhat true, seemingly, when he first came to London.  I think his family initially missed Italy, and were having a hard time adjusting.  However, Conte himself has since came out and said that his family is settled, that they love London, and that he can see himself being here for a long time.  He even talked about he and his brother opening up an Italian restaurant in London.

In essence, the British ress have, once again, taken an old sound-bite, or quip, and ran with it as if it is something new.  Can't have nasty Chelsea at the top of the League, without some fabricated controversy.

I'll be honest I was starting to get nervous, story seemed to be gaining legs and then I saw;

"the Italian has no intention of skipping out early on the club and instead is determined to lead Chelsea into the Champions League next season.

Conte, while flattered, made his intentions clear to Inter officials during recent talks."

I really do hate the media but it does sound like inquiries have definitely been made, Chinese money, again.

Well he didn't stay very long at his beloved club or his country, he will want his next challenge. I think 3 seasons.

That's my head, my heart wants him here until retirement, however I wanted that for Claudio, Jose both times, Carlo, Guus and Robbie.

Don't get me wrong I am not thinking past him leaving it is far too early for that, however I am kind of mentally accepted it already.

He won't leave, he gets us in to the champions league, but he doesn't want to try and win that competition, that would be insane. British press are only running with this story, because he's yet to sign a contract extension. It's the same old b.s from them and they somehow manage to get more extreme and look more stupid with each season. There is even a journo on Twitter who said you should ignore the stories.

There's not a single day go by without a story about a Chelsea player or manager leaving the club. The story of Costa going to China has been running for like a month now, with a different subject line each time, now its like ' Conte fears Costa may leave for China'. If we happen to drop a game in the next few weeks, won't surprise me if someone write an article  on how Conte lost his dressing room.

Ok so there's a bunch of new sources (Italian newspaper Tutosport) claiming that Antonio Conte has agreed to leave Chelsea for Inter Milan at the end of the season.

see: http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/article/2017/03/02/conte-reportedly-agrees-join-inter-milan

Normally I'd be really worried about this, however in this case I'm not for 2 reasons.

1. My understanding is he's negotiating a new contract with Chelsea and as such, this is a negotiation ploy by Conte's agent to strengthen his bargaining position.

2. I believe (and tell me if I'm wrong), Conte signed a 3 year contract at the start of the year. Meaning his got 2 full seasons after this one and he's on wages that are far lower than what Mourinho was on previously. This suggests to me that both Conte and Chelsea are motivated to agree a new deal with increased wages and contract term.

I really doubt he's actually going to leave us for Inter Milan, but hopefully this gets put behind us soon as I can breathe again (WHEW!)

3. It's Tuttosport. A daily football newspaper with around 30 pages to fill and different editions for Turin, Milan, Rome and Genoa. That's a lot of pages to fill.
