Antonio Conte - Now Officially Manager

Featured Replies

He tried everything to win today, couldn't fault him. The ' cold wet day at Stoke (or Burnley)' experience is something new for every foreign manager. He needs to find a starting spot for Cesc, when the game is in the balance, Cesc is far more effective. In a game like today, Burnely has decided to play for the draw long before he came on, therefore he wasn't as effective as he could have been. Matic is just an in-between player, he could win some duels or put a few passes in, but full of ordinary traits too.

Just rumours at this stage, but I'd prefer us to consider offering a contract extension around the halfway mark of next season, which would reach the halfway point of his current contact which keeps him at the club until the end of the 2018-2019 season.

One of my grievances with the club over the years has been the insistence of offering new contracts prematurely, and then subsequently sacking managers when they go through a downturn in form which results in very large payouts. Conte hasn't put a foot wrong so far, but I don't think the club needs to rush to offer him a new deal though.

Toward the end of the calendar year, I think it would be more appropriate to start discussing a new contract deal, but it's ultimately up to the club on what they do. If they do re-sign Conte to a new contract, they need to stick with him no matter what. He's proven himself to be a success in my mind.

If we win the league he will have earned and fully deserve an improved contract.

It is a long time, many years, since we gave managers a payout when sacking them. They get paid as usual up until they are next employed. this is why Robbie Matteo stayed out of the game for 18 months because he wasn't getting offered the same money elsewhere. He chose to wait to the end of his contract with us rather than take a paycut. No manager worth their salt would do this and Conte most certainly wouldn't so your fears of being lumbered financially are totally unfounded.

Thanks for clarifying. I've always assumed that a manager who gets sacked automatically receives his full payout regardless of whether he finds a new job or not.

Makes sense now.

Guys I would really appreciate if you could take a few minutes to answer my questionnaire for my university dissertation.

I am researching the buying behaviour of match day going fans and factors that would influence them to spend more on tickets.

He keeps everyone awake all the time. Prem will slap you in the face if you nod off for a second. Our rivals have done it so many times this season. Liverpool in particular. They've had a pretty great system but have slept through games. City has an identity crisis with Pep. ManU had a slow start that will cost them. Arsenal is truly Arsenal. Tottenham probably has the best chance of catching us if anyone.
