Lewis Baker- Could he make it?

Certainly seems to be doing well at MK Dons. Scored another yesterday and he could well help them achieve promotion.

He hasn't been dropped, Robinson is just a big fan of rotation. When Alli and Reeves got injured he filled in the holes brilliantly. His work rate is astonishing, one of the best box to box midfielders I've seen in this league. Going forward he's very creative and he has the confidence to score goals most wouldn't even have the guts to attempt.

The way Robinson plays him means that that he gets a lot of freedom to just do what he wants. With the right coaching he could have a very good career.

I'm assuming he's a Dons fan.

I always thought that Baker was better than RLC.

I am actually RLC has had so much hype over the past 2 years... compared to some other youth players.

Basically as soon as they go to Vitesse that's it, game over.

I'm not even sure why we bother sending them there outside of work permit issues, when they come back they get sent straight to the championship/league 1 regardless of how they performed. Why not just cut out the middle man and send them there straight away.

I never really thought Baker was that special to be honest.

Still think he's more talented than RLC. Only thing RLC has that he doesn't is the physique.

He will get experience playing in the top league in holland playing competitive football and a brand that would probably more suited to his development then championship. It's on him now

I think there are quite a few players more talented than RLC in our youth team, if it wasn't for his physique I doubt Jose would be so keen on him.

I can see how it benefits the player but in terms of forging a Chelsea career, it's pretty much the beginning of the end.

I think that's a very one dimensional view of things. You can't just make a sweeping statement, you have to look at it on a case by case basis and so far the only player who has gone over there that has looked good enough is traore. Atsu, and Co have proven after the fact that they weren't top level and Josh hasn't got the focus.

Had high hopes for Piazon, who had decent cameos when he joined and started out really well with Vitesse. Haven't noticed much from him lately after going on loan to Frankfurt.

Struggled to nail down a starting position from all accounts. I don't think he will make it here and at the moment, it looks like we will struggle to get the 5m we paid for him back.

Just goes to show for every Courtois there is a piazon. Let's hope nathan or kenedy, can make more of an impact.

Pretty much everyone we have sent over there has looked good enough, it's not much of a benchmark.

We'll see what happens with Traore and if he proves anything, I recall being as excited about Piazon who put in good performances and similar stats to Traore in less time too. That's not ended up too well.

Piazon had a great first 3 months and then did nothing. If he had maintained early form for a whole season we might be having a different conversation

6 months and that makes it all the more impressive that he managed to get a similar amount of goals and assists that Traore has got for the whole season.

We really wouldn't, doesn't matter if he kept it up for the whole season. He wouldn't have got a chance here regardless, we've had players like Kalas play well for Vitesse and then get send to the championship.

That was my first thought as well. Seems to be a black hole when they go there. Id have liked to see Baker back at Dons again next season, get some championship experience in a good footballing side... and as a local MK boy I'd have got to see more of him!
