bayern are top 3 club in the world and almost guaranteed trophies every year. why wouldn't he go there?

Because there is only one team in the league, who even watches that league except Germans,  so the trophies don't count for as much, and the city is dull , we have won 2 titles in the last 3 years, in the best, most competitive, lucrative  league in a world class city, I get Munich is a big club I wasn't saying why would he go there over Blackburn rovers, but I was comparing them to us, which for reasons stated I would have thought would be more attractive to a player.

Bayern is a perennial contender in the CL, with a fantastic shot at winning it compared to other teams in other leagues.  Chelsea missed out on CL just this year, and PL does not have a good reputation (recently) in the competition.  They also don't go through a grueling season like in the PL.

Next, Bayern is chock full of world class talent and they can take an entire season to work together and gel (because they don't have to worry about domestic competition).  We must also look at the styles of play.  Bayern is a possession attacking football club that puts the pressure on.  Maybe Tolisso wants to play more attacking/possession as opposed to Chelsea's defensive/counter system.  I can certainly see that being a huge factor.

I particularly agree with your last point. It's all too easy to overlook the attraction of 'good football' to players.

Must've missed the news when we signed them.

Caballero, Bakayoko and Lukaku are inevitable in the same way Costa and Luis were a few year's back (those transfers were confirmed in mid July).

We can't actually announce any new deals until the Nike deal kicks in on July 1st. New signings can't be announced wearing/holding the old Adidas strip

Makes perfect sense as to why we haven't signed any new players yet (technically) or at least confirmed then.

Once July starts, I expect incoming transfers to happen much quicker and efficiently

This isn't really true. Deals can be agreed and announced. There just won't be any unveilings until the new kit is live.

Unveilings rarely take place when the deal is announced anyway, certainly not at Chelsea.

It depends we may have an obligation with adidas in our contract that all players signed whilst contracted to them need to be unveiled in the adidas kit.

But that's my point really - that still doesn't stop us signing players. We would just wait for them to be unveiled once the Nike deal starts.

Who knows, but I'm fairly sure the kit deals aren't holding up any transfer agreements.

Yeah that's a bit daft IMO

Agreed it is just that we can't announce anything, which means we won't hear anything until the new deal is in.

Of course we can announce a signing , we just won't unveil anybody with a press conference/shirt yet, that's all.

Far too much being read into the Nike deal aspect of things.

Signings will come, that's the main thing.

I don't think that is the case though since contract extensions must involve sponsor and kit deals too, no? And those doesn't seem to be hindered by the Nike deal.

If anything, a deal can be announced to at least be completed, announcing medicals or the club can always leaked the news or let the players leak the news too.

Only pressers, official announcements and media work is delayed iirc. The deals themselves can always be announced anytime unless the club itself wants to delay the announcement.

We announced new deals in the summer of 2006 before the Adidas deal kicked in though. Didn't Ballack sign in a sweater or something? Shevy signed in something similar too, might have been a suit. Can't remember Cole's.

It's possible the new kit deal is a factor but I don't think the club will deliberately hold up any deal because of a kit. Players sign in normal clothes all the time.
