The keeper will keep them in it like he just did, wish Tibo could be relied on like that.

Courtois doesn't do it enough. I have seen Messi's goal against us a few times now and i still believe Courtois could have saved it if he hadn't guessed. Courtois does make good saves now and again, but it would be nice to see him making those match winning reflex saves more often. If he was as good as people say he is, he would do it more often that he does. I think De Gea would have saved Messi's shot yesterday, it's not a coincidence that he keeps making these saves, he is just brilliant at it.

Getting worried now. Five English teams knocking on the door for the last eight in Uefa's flagship tourney.

Can see the refs getting heavily involved in the 2nd legs, i predict we will be top of the hit list.

I would love it if Sevilla made BT eat their words. The commentators are making out that Sevilla are a nothing team and United are a few levels above them. From what i have seen, Sevilla have been better, United have done nothing in attack so far.

I'm not watching the game but the stats say Seville have had 20 shots and Utd 5, Utd been sh*t?

It’s very misleading. De Gea has had to make about two saves in the entire game.

It is nailed on coco. Ref will give us nothing in barca. A near perfect game will not be enough for us. We have to be flawless.

I'm confident we can beat manure in the weekend if we play like we did vs barcelona. We can knock them out of the top 4 race with their terrible football.

Could BT commentary be any more biased/delusional/blind? I dunno what they were watching, especially mcmanamon.

How can you watch that and see the stats, 20+ shots and 8 on target from sevilla and think Utd were comfortable?

If sevilla had smarter players they would have beat utd. Utd were against any other decent team tonight they would have been buried. Sevilla come out guns blazing and go for it at trafford, they can win.

And so it has begun.....pundits already saying how good utd were and comfortable hahahahaha......its like they are ordered to say such horse crap.

We need to restore the CL to what it was back in the 70s. Look how many top sides you had to get past to win it back then:

1976-7 (Liverpool's first win)

1st Round - Crusaders 2-0, 5-0 (7-0)
2nd Round - Trabzonspor 0-1, 3-0 (3-1)
Quarter-Final - St Etienne 0-1, 3-1 (3-2)
Semi-Final - FC Zurich 3-1, 3-0 (6-1)
Final - Borussia Moenchengladbach 3-1

I mean, look how it's been devalued when you compare that epic run to our mickey mouse effort in 2011-2

Chelsea FC          2-0          Bayer 04 Leverkusen      Leverkusen

Valencia CF         1-1          Chelsea FC          Chelsea

Chelsea FC          5-0          KRC Genk            Genk

KRC Genk            1-1          Chelsea FC          Chelsea

Bayer 04 Leverkusen      2-1          Chelsea FC          Chelsea

Chelsea FC          3-0          Valencia CF         Valencia

SSC Napoli           3-1          Chelsea FC          Chelsea

Chelsea FC          4-1          SSC Napoli           Napoli

SL Benfica            0-1          Chelsea FC          Chelsea

Chelsea FC          2-1          SL Benfica            Benfica

Chelsea FC          1-0          FC Barcelona      Barcelona

FC Barcelona      2-2          Chelsea FC          Chelsea

FC Bayern München       1-1          Chelsea FC          Chelsea

It's a lot harder to win the competition once in it these days but equally it was a lot harder to get in it in the first place as you had to either be Champion of your country or win the cup the previous year to get in. For perspective under the pre 90's tournament rules 5 of the last 6 CL winners wouldn't have got in the tournament in the first place.

I can't help but wonder what could have been had Ted Drake stood up to the FA like Matt Busby did and we insisted we were playing in the first ever European club, i would imagine we would have had a serious shot at winning it which would have done wonders for our status in the game.
