He had plenty of room. City pushed their wingers out wide and as far forward as possible, and our LWB/RWB could not venture forward enough.

Because they lack pace. If Alonso had any sort of pace, he'd have punished Delph severely for that. Didn't help that we kept easily giving up possession as soon as we won it back either.

Did you not see how their wingers occupied our wing backs. Nothing to do with pace. And Alonso could not have punished Delph as he was on completely the wrong side of the pitch !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Lots of slanging going on here, not surprising emotions running high. But everyone is entitled to their opinion. And mine is we were completely outplayed by a better set up and organised team. Also willian was crap (today) and Cahill is a liability.

Disappointed as always when we don't win. Gutted when Morata went off as we didn't have any focal point for an out ball and to take the game to City.

City certainly pressed us high up the pitch and were better than us.

Don't know how much the big performance in Madrid took out of our performance today. Don't want to make any excuses.

Yet we could have equalised late on.

Oh and Glenn Hoddle hardly had a good word to say about us at any time during his analysis throughout the game. Had to remind myself a few times that he had actually been our coach in the 1990s...

Can't quite read what you've written. I need a few more exclamation marks to see it properly.

Hmmm.... There really wasn't much for him to go on though, coach or not.

Right I have had a few pints so I might struggle to write a coherent sentence.

City were the better team tonight by some distance. 1-0 flattered us. I underestimated how good city would be, they're the real deal and look like they mean serious business. And that's without there 2 best defenders and their star striker. Thank f**k they never managed to get the sanchez deal done otherwise just hand them the f**king trophy.

Not making excuses here but it's an absolute f**king joke that this game wasn't moved to sunday. We looked very tired I thought. Kante was misplacing passes near the end, I just think that was due to fatigue and Hazard the same.

I'm really proud of the effort this team has put in. They really have put in a shift over the last few days. It was always going to be a tough ask playing to of the top teams in Europe in such a short space of time.

Our October fixtures look much kinder (our next 4 matches are in London) so I'm confident we'll get back on track.

Either you don't understand the game, have never been to a match, or just talk nonsense............

Alonso could not have punished Delph, because they were on the opposite sides of the pitch. And you were saying I make stupid posts. You couldn't make this up !!.

Quite encouraged by the performance today, haven't read this thread. apologies out and about,  but I thought we matched them. This is a 10m's  team playing a 100m's team. They dominated as away teams go not surprisingly. Thought we did okay and could have had a draw maybe nicked a win I reckon if Morata had stayed on

Conte had said he was happy with the effort and we tried everything to get a good result. Looking at this thread sounds like he is embellishing the truth a bit then.

Our October Premier league fixtures are.

Palace A

Watford H

Bournemouth A

Anything other than 9 points is unacceptable to me.

Lets win these matches and get our season back on track.

COME ON CHELSEA!!!!!

Poor performance all around apart from Christensen, Rudigar and Morata whilst he was on the pitch.

Players just looked tired 3 days between games is ridiculous why on earth we play on a Saturday after a Wednesday is a joke.

Always horrible to go onto international break off a loss but hopefully Morata can rest and get back to full fitness and we go again. UTC.

It gets better. Next month we play Roma on Wednesday and then play Watford in the 12:30 game on the Saturday. We get screwed over again.

This has to be a joke LOL

We gave everything on Wednesday night, got back at 4am Thursday morning, had one day to train/rest on Friday & then had to play a team that’s very adept at keeping the ball/has the most expensive squad in the league. It was pretty much the same eleven (bar Moses). Is it any wonder we couldn’t match them today? That’s not making excuses - they’re cold, hard facts!

If we had a squad with the same strength in depth as City’s, maybe we wouldn’t have this problem. But we do. After winning the league, we had the chance to seriously press on and make a few class additions to the squad, but once again we didn’t do it. Instead we’re now having to play exactly the same eleven in these situations and just hope for the best. It was pathetic to watch.

Credit to city for how they played, but let’s put it in some context.

That's not as bad, both home games so no lack of training/rest from travelling.

Just a reminder of where we were this time last year and we all know how that turned out:

Position Team P W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Manchester City 7 6 0 1 18 7 +11 18
2 Tottenham 7 5 2 0 12 3 +9 17
3 Arsenal 7 5 1 1 16 7 +9 16
4 Liverpool 7 5 1 1 18 10 +8 16
5 Everton 7 4 2 1 11 5 +6 14
6 Manchester United 7 4 1 2 13 8 +5 13
7 Chelsea 7 4 1 2 12 9 +3 13

A bit of a reality check...was always going to be one of our hardest games of the season and it came less than three days after another...would have taken a point before kick off but can have no complaints..we just couldn't seem to get the ball to hazard and Morata (while he was on the pitch) enough...passing of Kante was exposed a bit today...it's improving but still work to do..

we have to come back strongly after the international break, but performance against Atletico should give everyone hope we can do just that..finally, Christensen is the dogs bollox

I’d like to have a moan about the ticket situation today. It was quite evident as you approached the ground today that it was full of tourists. I don’t think the club is do enough to prevent this.

To compound things I took my son into the family section where as a member you can only buy a ticket with a junior one. So how come the 2 seats in front had 2 adult Spanish tourists (the guy in front of me was around 6’ 5”) and then the next 4 seats had a party of adults which included 2 Clity fans. How does that happen? I felt sorry for the kid next to me who had to stand the whole game (partly on the seat) because he couldn’t view over the 6 adults. My 12 yr old also struggled to see.

THIS IS REALLY STARTING TO P*** me off
