The big difference is that we have let so many go. Change that, and the fans would feel a bit better about things. Like you say, if we didn't sell Matic, the squad would look a lot healthier.

We are in this mess because the board has failed to replace what we have sold or loaned out.

I actually think it was good business to flog Matic, though I would rather it not have been to United. I would have kept Tammy Abraham, Boga and RLC in the squad.

He was almost definitely being signed to play CM. Same way Ox was being signed to play RWB. Make of that what you will. And what gives you the impression I wanted Barkley here? I've been complaining about how we're going after average players. Sure you have the right person quoted?

Maybe I am in which case I apologise, but I can't believe people are dissapointed about us not signing barkley!!! I'm over the moon that deal hasn't happened!

Not Chalobah? He's the big one for me, I feel he'd have got enough minutes this season to convince him to sign a new contract.

Would've been, if we provided a replacement.

If we are struggling or want to sub players early to keep them fresh, we have nobody on the bench that can come on and make a big different. Look at the players City and United can bring off the bench. Both teams have already shown early on how important having a strong bench is. United have bought on players in all 3 of their opening games and scored goals, City have bought players off the bench to win to get late goals. We don't have that.

Exactly. Too many people on here think it's FIFA where you can play your first 11 every single game in multiple comps. It's not realistic in the slightest. Our bench is pretty weak and includes young boys with zero PL experience. If we get suspensions like Cahill and Fab we have to play a central defender in midfield like has already happened. God help us if we get an injury up top or on the wings because we have nothing in reserve. Squads win titles and ours as it stands is woefully thin on numbers.

I'm not bothered about us not having Barkley himself. Neither was I bothered in the slightest bit about Ox not coming here. What does worry me is that we can't seem to close any f**king deal for anyone we target. Even our easiest transfers this summer have been quite laboured. Remember how long it took to complete the Bakayoko deal? In that time another club could have come and hijacked it. Something seriously wrong with Marina's negotiations when it comes to buying players in the past few years.

Yep, one injury or suspension and we look very weak. No squad should ever have to worry about that.

The trouble with rlc, is that conte doesn't seem to play him in centre midfield.

I would've kept chalobah, told him he can go on a free next summer. He might have changed his mind had he gotten more games this year.

Agree with Tammy though. He is ready to play a part now imo.

Good point Jack. I forgot about Nat. Yep would have tried to convince him to stay. I feel Matic is a fairly limited footballer and Chalobah definitely has potential to be much better.

Definitely. Still think the players we loaned out were better than some of the ones we have been trying to sign.
