Unpopular opinion but i wasn't actually against the signing initially, i mean i say that I thought the price and wages were obscene but the player in himself I thought would do quite well in Conte's system. His biggest strength was long passes on the counter to progress the attack before the opponent can regroup which on paper was perfect for us at that time.

I think regarding his head dropping i think that happened when he realised this move wasn't going to work. I imagine after the taste of the top with Leicester's title win and then getting a move here (in which he still got a FA Cup winners medal despite everything) he just didn't have it in him to fully commit back to the journeyman life, atleast not straight away.

I think he was ready to give it another go in his 2nd season, the manager who would not play him for political reasons was gone but then the new manager Sarri immediately buys a personal favourite in Jorginho. Drinkwater is feeble minded but he didn't really stand a chance, by the time Lamps came and was prepared to give him a chance to impress in pre season, his head was gone.

Bizarre and easily the worst signing in terms of return on the field, I can't even remember a single good moment from him, maybe he did score a goal? Hopefully this is the kind of lesson the new owner will learn from

He actually scored a great goal for us once. Apart from that yeah terrible signing.

Couldn’t believe when we let chalobah and matrix go for 40-45 mil and signed DD for 35 mil..absolute disaster of a window.. not a single target secured ..

we went after Sandro and signed Emerson.. we went after OX and signed zappacosta.. we went after lukaku unsigned morata.. we went after the big Cf who chose spurs ..heads should have rolled after the dross we collected immediately after winning the league..

a lot of it was also conte .. he wasted a glorious season with hazard at his prime and probably cost us The snake too

Look you half bakes, we made a mistake, but that season Leicester won the PL Him and Ngolo ripped up the PL, hind sight is a wonderful virtue, and his move didn’t pan out, but patting yourself on the back for such self grandiosing, well Jog on, hope he sorts his demons, and plays on a bit….

It's always difficult with these sorts of players, Chelsea clearly wanted to see the back of him and he knew he had no future. It was obvious after his second season. There's a few things which stopped him; his salary, his professionalism and his performances on loan. He is a talented player and was a very good mid table midfielder, however, by seeing out his contract at Chelsea he will be looking at being a championship player. No team at his level could match his salary he was earning at Chelsea and I think most people would see out such a lucrative contract but he didn't do himself any favours with instances like fighting with his teammates or his drinking

Thats exactly what you do when you tell a load of cosh excuses as to why he sat on the bench or in the reserves and dossed about half the time around london drink driving lambos about

Bad signing, Wasn't anywhere near Kante, Back to the championship he will go, His level

And that makes him a bad player?, or a horrid person?, it our fault for trying to buy the leicester midfield, and expecting Sarri to do something exciting with it, and how is he a Mid table player, with a deserved PL medal in his collection, for winning it, like i said Hindsight is fabulous

I was against the price and wages but when putting that aside i didn't mind the player at the time.

His two season's prior was better than post 14 Matic (seems people have forgotten just how badly he declined including and beyond that NYD embarrassment at WHL) and his main strengths were quick balls through in transition which on paper suited Conte's system perfectly. And ofcourse there was the proven partnership with Kante.

That said, even if he worked out that season he was always done for once we went for a more possession based approach.

No just a lower level player and a waste of money like so many in the past

Painful to read isn't it, this forum is full of them now unfortunately. The price to pay for success I suppose. Maybe a few poor seasons would be worth it to get rid of them.

You would at least have a bit of compassion for a guy who lost both his grandparents, his dog and his dad being diagnosed with cancer..

He said he was angry at being mistreated and tbh he was, you can't dare say that he didn't deserve to play ahead of Bakayoko, then Sarri mucked him about before that season as well.

Danny Who?

I'm sure his wages over the 5 years at 100k+ a week will help him sleep at night, gotta make you laugh when these "kids" living as adults don't understand the real world with real people problems and money struggles, no sympathy for him whatsoever, he had opportunities.

I mean i'll give to any player that warrants it, but i'm usually in with 'in crowd' on the populist beatings
