I don't think musonda's size is that much of an issue, he has great technique and acceleration so it is rare he finds himself in physical tussle.

CBs these days are fast too, it'd be tough for him if they start being physical and knowing that these days refs don't call those fouls on us makes it worse

It definitely is, especially our league, at one point on the edge of teh forest box you saw him try and go through couldn't gave it to hazard barged his way through, doesn't matter how good you are physical strength is necessary, I'm surprised the coaching team havn't tried to bulk him up he is unusually slight for a professional athlete

I don't think he needs to bulk up, he will get naturally stronger with age, I think if someone like Mahrez can excel in English football, then I don't see why musonda can't, if he uses his ability.

Musonda needs to eat more meat, still looking small

Not necessarily. Look at Pedro, he's skinny and he's had a great career. Willian is skinny too, as is Jesus, Silva, Mata, Rashford, Mahrez. It's a myth that you need to be well built to cope in football. I think for wingers, it's better to have less meat on them, too much muscle could slow them down.

okay, i know Ampadu is still young and all, but i saw shades of Matic in him. and no, that's not a compliment

He's pretty much still relying on his physicality instead of football I.Q. I bet he'll go out on loan.

Mahrez is much more wirey than musonda and thats a problem with him aos not physical enough, there is no doubt being stronger helps your game, players are told to add muscle all teh time, even torres who was never small was told to by FSW and it actually improved him

How did Hazard look?

Comfortable. Look's ready to start for the first 11 now i think. Passing at times was great, the ball was stuck to him like glue at times and he could easily have had a goal for himself but he played it to Batshuayi instead.

professional win, a clean sheet would been nice but charity begins at home so the Forest mob got something to cheer about back up north

thought all the youth players acquitted themselves well, especially CM , Bats with his 1st CFC hat trick, Eddie looking back in form, lots of good reasons for a little celebratory tipple this evening

Knocking a lad that was just seventeen this week. Really?

what's age gotta do with it really? you worried he's gonna cry reading some criticism?

Watching him tonight, I think their was maybe 2 or 3 occasions when he get pushed of the ball, which happens with hazard, willian, and pedro as well. It's just part and parcel of the game. Most of the time, his touch and ability stopped anyone from getting near enough outmuscle him, or when they did, they couldn't get the ball without fouling.

He already looks like he has filled out in the last 12 months, I don't think putting unnatural muscle on would help his game, he would be slower, and would likely pick up more injuries.

Just my opinion though, I can understand the argument, but he is such a naturally skinny guy, I think it would be hard fot him to bulk up mote than what he is now.

He's still at school. playing in front of a big crowd for the first time making his debut. The youngest player to do so since Chico Hamilton in '67 and your knocking him. Disgraceful.

He has the ability to get past most defenders. It's just that with his talents, he could go all the way to the top and it's at that level that the likes of Hummels, Ramos etc would get the edge over him. If it was against Shawcross or Huth, he'd easily get past those imo.

Still to be seen how he kicks on from here.

Mahrez is a lot older though, that wiry strength is something he has naturally developed with age. Musonda has already spent a year bulking up. He has such a small frame to start with, I think he is about right.

I was watching this game with the hope of trying to find out who among our attacking 3 could easily slot in to the Chelsea lineup given our skinny squad. I was looking at Musonda, Kennedy, Batshuayi. While I was happy with their displays I am not 100% satisfied. Remember this was not a dour defensive game- this was an open game with both teams keen on attacking.

Batshuayi - Good positioning for all 3 goals, but again poor on hold up play and loses possession, sometimes with no pressure. I feel like he needs a lot more coaching on those aspects. I am not confident of starting him as a lone striker.

Musonda - Lovely pace, very skillful but not sure how effective he will be when the space available for him reduces and the physicality increases.

Kennedy - Very direct, very pacy, good boot for goal and too prone too offsides. I liked how he was able to keep up with the opponents physicality. I feel like he will be the best bet among the three to get more playing time against premier league opponents.

His career is just starting. His first appearance as a sub in Chelsea colours at the Bridge against Forest at 17yrs of age and he gets criticism from the start? A bit over the top don't you think?

That was remarkably enjoyable, much more than Qarabag.

Musonda - he's such a joy to watch with natural abilty up there with Hazard. @Argo it's possible that he will not succeed with us but he will surely be a top player. No, I'm not saying this from this game alone.

Rudiger - Does anyone still doubt his passing ability?

Christensen - He just oozes class.

Clark-Salter - Brief views (some birding terminology :)) but looks great on the ball.

Sterling - Again brief views but already looked better than Aina did in any cameo.

Hazard - Clearly still saving himself. What a genius.

Bakayoko - Nice to see him play with abandon and pull out the tricks and flicks.

Ampadu - Long way to go before I can form an opinion. Probably has shown something special to get a run out. Looked a little ovewhelmed initially but good to see that he is two footed. One step ahead of Matic already.

Kenedy - Difficult to guage his defensive ability from this game but very good going forward.

Zappacosta - Didn't do anything special.

Bats - Showed again that he will get goals. Needs to get his head up more.

Cahill - Feel for him. Clearly more limited technically than all other defenders in the team. Chelsea through and through now and has earned our loyalty. If we go through a particularly bad patch this season, his presence may be invaluable.
