March 29, 20197 yr In the cases of Christensen and now Hudson-Odoi, these are players that have appeared for their full national teams, deemed to be amongst the best players in their respective countries. I get that Musonda, Kakuta, Solanke, Bamford, etc can be pointed to as not living up to some of the hype we had for them, and that there is always a tendency to over-rate your own youth players. But Manchester United have always had good youth players in the first team ready to play, and they've never been afraid to use them. And it hasn't kept them from being successful over the years. And you're right, it's hard to tell who would be ready. But you observe them in training, you give them time in the first team, you trust your youth coaches to prepare them, and if you're their coach, you go watch them in reserve games, on loan, or TV to check in on how they are doing. Sarri apparently can't be bothered to watch his own players on TV on international duty.
March 30, 20197 yr Latest rumours is his agent is going the Solanke way. His representatives are alleged to have held talks with Liverpool to set up a deal.

I get that Klopp is much better at integrating youth players, but you could argue he would have much less of a claim to play at Liverpool than he does with us. Salah and Mane both in the early years of their prime.
March 30, 20197 yr Can't get in over Pedro and Willian so gonna give it a go over Salah and Mane who don't get rotated at all? Load of bollocks imo. All this after Sarri has just said he'll start 4 games this month then 75% of games after that (likely meaning next season). He either signs or leaves for a free next summer, no chance he's going this summer.
March 31, 20197 yr Just spotted CHO playing in the NCAA basketball playoffs for Texas Tech. No wonder Sarri isn't starting him today: https://media.gettyimages.com/photos/jarrett-culver-of-the-texas-tech-red-raiders-brings-the-ball-up-court-picture-id1067463360
March 31, 20197 yr What does the kid have to do to get a start?! Regularly gets assists and goals in Europa, he bags a goal and assist for England earlier this week. Still on the bench behind Pedro and Willian. Hazard on the bench too so I really doubt we will see him today. At this stage it really looks like Hudson Odoi need to leave Chelsea to play more regularly. So frustrating.
March 31, 20197 yr Absolutlely should of started today. Sarri is showing more and more hes not the guy to manage him.

If your job entails making players better and coaching a team, and you have players playing in a major competition, aren't you curious to see how they do? It doesn't seem like he does a lot of watching any football outside of Italy.

It would have shocked me if CHO started today. Not sure how everyone couldn't see that a mile off. Hazard is on the bench for the same reason.

The number of mins.. he has played this season.. and the fact he only played one full game .. in weeks anyone who thinks this is to rest him is kidding themselves.. simple truth is he is too direct for Sarri’s style.. he will never really trust him until CHO changes his style.. Sarri can sod off .. he is a dinasaur..

March 31, 20197 yr Good luck wherever you may end up Callum. I'll regret we had a fraud of a manager that didn't play he when you broke through but he will be a world-beater somewhere thats for sure. Back to zero minutes in the league after those performances for England is a complete disgrace and i am sure not a single sensible Chelsea-fan can blame him for leaving. We are going to regret the day we hired Sarri for a long time.
March 31, 20197 yr Had a feeling he wouldn't play any part today and I'm fine with that AS LONG AS HE STARTS AGAINST BRIGHTON. Willian and Pedro did nothing today to warrant another start. CHO HAS to start and if he doesn't, then Sarri is an even bigger idiot that I gave him credit for.
March 31, 20197 yr Sometimes I wonder whether Sarri is still punishing him for the transfer request, it just doesn't make sense to not play someone that plays better than all our wingers every time he comes on. It boggles my mind. Even Mourinho who doesn't have the best record with youth would have been starting him at this point.

It made complete sense for me to not start CHO today. But after willian and Pedro did absolutely nothing today. Considering they'd been rested and fully focused on this fixture for 2 weeks, neither deserve the start on Wednesday. If CHO doesn't start Wednesday, then for me I will finally join the Sarri out camp.
March 31, 20197 yr It's hard to say how good Hudson-Odoi will become, but I would sack Sarri in a second if it meant we could keep him here. As it stands, there is zero chance he will be here beyond next season. Sarri has handled him terribly and it's not just Hudson-Odoi either, it's a similar situation with Loftus-Cheek.

Hazard will be back midweek and take CHO's favorite position and knowing Sarri he will deem Eden and CHO on the pitch at the same time to risky defensively. Sarri is quite frankly a liar and i would be so pissed off if i was Callum. Remember when he said this in january when Hudson Odoi handed in a transfer request? “He is ready I think [to play in the bigger games],” said Sarri. “Of course, we have very important players in the same position. I can play with only two wingers. But now he is ready. Of course, some times he will be on the bench but the same as Willian and Pedro. I can start to consider him on the same level.” Straight up lied. Edited March 31, 20197 yr by Sindre

Which is exactly why CHO wants to leave. But hey, who can blame Sarri? He's got to keep playing the older players he said himself doesn't play his football and he can't motivate, or else they might get upset.

Another take is that instead of picking the exciting young player who had his first national debut and put in good performances, he picked two players he himself has said he can't motivate and don't play his football..... and were at Cobham because their form has been so poor this season that theirnational team managers aren't even selected them for the squad anymore.... Funny, if Sarri felt a starting a game on Tuesday (or Wednesday or Thursday) meant you can't start on Sunday then why have we seen him do it so often this season..... March 31, 20197 yr Sarri on team selection: "I cannot think that Kante, Hazard can play 70 matches in a season. Kante has played 50 or 51, Hazard 48 with today and in the last period played two matches with the national team. Probably in the season you have to rest. At the end we were lucky" But Jorginho gets to start every game even the dead rubber Europa ones. Why not rotate in Christensen, RLC & CHO?
March 31, 20197 yr Sarri is like a Dinasaur in management.. he maybe could coach but certainly is very ooor at three critical things.. man management team selection media handling which makes him not good enough for a top 4 team,..
March 31, 20197 yr Either Hudson-Odoi goes, or Sarri goes. If Sarri would rather hold back a player to prove his point, then he is not putting the best interests of the club first. He has consistently not done everything he could do to win games this season, from lineups, to substitutions, to tactics, to man management. There is enough evidence over 31 matches to believe that Sarri is out of his element and not showing any signs of adapting to the differences in the Premier League. I haven't seen a single positive quality I can point to that makes me think next season will be any better.
