April 3, 20197 yr Just had a quick look and Ronaldo had 6 goals in 40 games in his first season at Utd. Hudson Odoi currently sits at 5 goals in 19 games..
April 3, 20197 yr Really hope he signs that new contract. Losing him would be devestating for the club. I very much believe Sarri should have given him proper gametime in the league much, much earlier as i am unconvinced he wants to stay here at this point but let's hope we convince him.

Should have started integrating him into the team from the first game of the season. After the Community Shield, we barely seen anything from him. If he was making regular appearances before January, maybe we could have avoided the transfer request and had him already signed on a long term deal.

Yup too little too late, same with Christensen I reckon too. Though to be fair that started with him being dropped last season.

He will likely end this season with 25 appearances, should he then follow up next season with 40 and still decide to leave then i think it's safe to say he would have been gone regardless.

This appearance thing is rubbish, it's like saying I made 30 appearances at work in a month but I was only there for 5mins ?

Well some people decide to go over the top the other way and make out fans expected CHO to start in August or he will make 25 appearances and not actually take a look at the minutes involved. Sarri wanted CHO in the squad, CHO must of thought he will get a chance at some point, to not get more starts in the league cup and Europa league is disappointing, CHO was most likely dissapointed. The lad cant even start FA Cup games against lower teams.

He's been brought on while chasing games, defending narrow leads, started a semi vs Spurs at Wembley, came on in the final, what makes you think he's going to suddenly stop appearing in those circumstances and just start playing ten minutes all the time?

April 4, 20197 yr 5 goals and 3 assists in all competitions for the season and he's played minutes wise roughly the equivalent of 9 full matches. Would love to think he's played he's way into the starting line up.

April 4, 20197 yr He's been a revelation for the first team this season and need to do everything we can to keep him. 982 minutes spread over 20 games (roughly 49 minutes played each game) and he's managed 5 goals and 5 assists. Goal contribution every 98.2 minutes that he's on the pitch. Gentle reminder that this lad is still 18. Scarily good future ahead for him and by god i hope it's at Chelsea.

Edit: time/ appearance wise I mean... Not to harp on as I think this has almost been done to death but the standard of player ahead of Foden for city are light years ahead of Willian & Pedro, so it’s not really a fair comparison. Foden is kept out by top class players - CHO isn’t. Anyway, he’s started now! Sarri says he’s ready to play 90 mins consistently so let’s see if he plays against West Ham. Then I’ll be happy if he starts to get a run of games!

Not at all, I have question marks about him in a few aspects but the mental gymnastics making him the villian of the piece all the time and downplaying him playing a youngster in cup semi's and finals at Wembley is blissful ignorance at best and downright agenda fuelled bolax at worst. April 4, 20197 yr So happy Hudson Odoi has taken his chance yesterday, he seems to everytime he gets game time, who knows what he can do if he play regularly? This May be abit ambitious but he could well have been the difference between 5th and 3rd if he played more regularly.

I love the kid but he's not shown me he's that much better than Willian and Pedro as an all round player. He loses possession a lot. He should be playing more because he's as good and because those two won't (shouldnt) be at the club in 12 months time.
April 4, 20197 yr What really excites me is next season, perhaps in a cup game, we could see a team such as: Kepa (24) James (19) Christensen (22) Rudiger (26) Emerson (24) Jorginho (27) Kante (28) RLC (23) Pulisic (20) Abraham (21) CHO (18) Average age of 22.9 years and on paper looks very strong. Even without a transfer window we can go from an old ageing team to a strong, youth-filled team with bags of potential. We've gone from an old stale team to one with huge upside potential if we can manage it correctly.
April 4, 20197 yr I feel Sarri lied in the presser afterwards. He said CHO is now ready to play every opponent. For him it seemed it was important to say when CHO is ready. I think CHO has been ready for months. He let the criticism in and now he buckled under pressure to start CHO and state something everyone knew already. He is in a war with everyone else. It is very sad I think. I don't think he will survive Chelsea for too long.

I don't think he will survive Chelsea for too long. I feel like this is taking a conclusion and working backwards from it. How was Sarri ever going to start CHO ever without it being used as a 'he is buckling to pressure' line? If he doesn't start CHO it is proof he is stubborn and won't last long. He starts CHO and its proof he was stubborn and won't last long. Maybe he is telling the truth, and didn't think he was ready for the PL games and now does. At least enough to start a home game against one of our weaker opponents.
April 4, 20197 yr Really impressive perfomance last night. There has been a trend in the last 10 or 15 years to play inverted wingers, but as we've seen with sane and sterling at city, sometimes traditional is best, as it gives natural width and stretches packed defences. CHO had chalk on his boots last night, always wide, always an option, always looking to beat his man and get a cross in. CHO staying wide allowed more freedom in the middle of the park, which is a big reason for how much space jorginho had to operate. His attitude also seems 1st class, he ran 50 yards to get back in stoppage time and nick the ball from knockhart. I hope he keeps his place for the pikeys.

Don't wanna be that guy, but i'm sure Ronaldo wasn't this effective in his first season at Utd at 18/19 years old? Ronaldo was a flashy show pony when he joined Utd who took a further 2 years before becoming more of an attacking goal threat for them. Odoi has all the technique and skill in the world but he does, at a similar age look to have more of an attacking intent to his game, beat a man get a shot off or a cross. What set Ronaldo apart down the line was his drive to become better every week, if Odoi, or any young player has even half of that drive and willing to reach the top, theyed become one of the greatest of their generation. If Hazard does leave the very best thing we can do is give Odoi the #10 jersey and play him from LW, then we'll see exactly what hes made of and I think the results would be insane from a goal/assist side of things.
