January 17, 20188 yr Surely not? I understand that the guy is something of a Plan B in that he can hold up the ball much more effectively than Morata when needed, but his injury record counts against him for mine.

Bakayoko, Drinkwater, Barkley, Zappacosta, Rudiger were all signed whilst injured, I think there were more but I can't be bothered to go through the list to be honest.
January 17, 20188 yr Signing 100% guaranteed *sick note*. we really are scrapping the barrel... our transfer policy has gone from the sublime to the ridiculous.

He said: "I want to add players to my squad, not lose players. "There have been a lot of rumours about a loan but as far as I know none of its come from Chelsea. "At the moment Andy has an ankle injury and he had an injection 10 days ago and we’re hoping he will be be training soon." However, it is thought that stance could change if Batshuayi is included as part of the switch for Carroll. Oh dear....lets just hope Carroll remains injured for the duration of the transfer window...............but there again we will still probably buy him
January 17, 20188 yr I think I am well in the majority on here when I say this is a real head scratcher. I was actually on board with pursuing Llorente in the summer. Thought his style would be interchangeable with Morata. We passed on him because he was 32. Well, Llorente at 32 much better than Carroll at 29, but neither moves the needle much I am afraid. Gosh, why not sign Fernando Torres again? What's the difference? Where is Samuel E'to these days? How about Falcao? Loic Remy? Demba Ba? Or better yet, perhaps we should have retained Lukaku, Salah and DeBruyne instead of rushing them all out the door? I can live we selling the likes of Salah, etc but when compounded by some of low level signings, it makes it hard to take. Andy Carroll? Really? Come on you Chels, you can do better!!
January 17, 20188 yr I am so still so at a loss on this one, I am following my own post with another. If we do sign him, surely it is just so we keep for the rest of this year, right? Is it a move to give us depth and rotation with Morata with all of the competitions so we can keep Morata healthy and not wear him out? He is quite fragile. Perhaps they feel we can get an extra win or two and that could be the difference in finishing top 4. By the way, once everyone determined they cannot allow crosses into the box for Morata, they have shut him out pretty much. Costa all feet and no headers. Morata all headers and no feet.

Agree on your thoughts regarding Carroll, but Falcao would actually be useful. Absolutely on a tear at Monaco, hard to judge his time in England as I don’t think he ever got settled.

Actually thought Falcao showed some good effort and some pace scoring a goal or two early in the year in losses. Then the ship started sinking fast and he was quickly forgotten as we started seeing the likes of Traore, Pato, Remy, etc. We are better than that bunch today certainly.
January 17, 20188 yr To be fair if Conte thinks Carroll is better than Bats it tells a lot about how wrong we went with Bats.
January 17, 20188 yr With Carroll and Morata upfront we just need to sign Mertesacker and Fellaini so we can get the ball from one end to another without it actually hitting the ground.

It’s really just a comparison of the two. If we bought Carrol do you think we’d play it to his feet? We’d create chances, or try to, that suit our players needs/skills. If he plays, it will be Dave crossing into him, a tactic that has worked a few times, but proper teams have now sussed
