I feel Alonso is doing a good job. He just needs to be able to be rested subbed if he's not having an effect and someobe after his place when he's not proforming.

Exactly.  Dave on the right and Luis on the left would have been an amazing duo in the fullback positions.  They both could have still been playing there to this very day.

Forgot Alonso as someone else mentioned. Make that closer to £90m then. Most of these transfers were also done at a time when £18m was a hell of a lot of money for a full back still. 

We've won a bunch of trophies after Cole so the money has not been totally wasted. Cole is the on of the crown jewels of british football so replacing him was always going to be almost impossible. No way in hell we are replacing Frankie either.

Luis has said he couldnt settle in England and wanted to leave to return to Madrid, nothing to do with playing him or not.

Well, with Kenedy going to Newcastle, you would think Palmieri will be brought in pretty soon........but we have been here before

I'm excited about the prospect of this guy, looks quick and tricky for a defender, and young enough to grow a lot with us. Hoping this goes through

I'm sure 9 league starts really helped the situation, Luis himself said he wasn't use to fighting for his place in the team and wanted to play over 50 games a season. Tells me games was apart of it.
