Next Chelsea Manager

Who would be your choice as Chelsea manager going into next season? 213 members have voted

  1. 1. Here are the current favorites with Conte included. Jody Morris is in there as he is the current youth team manager, and promoting from within seems to have worked for Barca, so why not us?!

Seriously, was that photo taken using a potato?

Who has such low quality cameras these days?

Looks like whoever took it was about 150 meters away and had to max the zoom on his phone to even get that picture.

But it sure does look like Sarri though.

Sarri will do well for us. I definitly don't see us winning the league this season, but i don't think the club is expecting that either.

Jorginho is a wonderful first buy and hopefully there is more to come. Jorginho knows Sarri's system in and out and will prove to be one of the best midfielders in the league.

This season was always going to be difficult with it being a world cup year. The likes of Eden and Kante wont be back until the first few league matches so they wont have any time to get accustomed to Sarri''s methods of training etc. Might be a rocky start.

I think we need to reach a point where we need to start jettisoning players who revolt under any and every manager whom they dislike or makes them work "too hard". Get players like Dave or Kante who are top top class in ability but humble enough that they will work as hard as the manager asks.  It might cost the club in the short run( ie, it could cost us Hazard but other than him I can't think of any other player who we would suffer from losing (in my opinion) but would have this "too hard of worK' issues.....I get that hazard gets kicked a ton more than other players, so maybe he deserves some slightly special treatment, but for the rest ship up or ship out(in my opinion)), but it will deliver in the long run in terms of perhaps finally getting a manager who can stay in place and actually start utilizing the huge investments made in youth.... and lets be honest, as things look right now, that might be our best bet to remain competitive at the top without having to spend like the Manchester clubs, which we won't be doing anymore for the foreseeable future.

I hope the board has learned from it's dealing with Conte.  Not saying Conte had no fault there, but from what I've seen Sarri will be a lot like Conte in his bluntness and his high demands/expectations.  If they don't learn from the experiences that led to the bad situation with Conte, it will repeat.  If the club has high expectations of Sarri and Sarri delivers, then the club needs to deliver for Sarri.  Not necessarily a ton of cash to splunk, but allowing him a large amount of autonomy over how he wants to form the squad.  Not picking targets for him (unless he is ok with it), but getting the targets he desires (within reason, but the club have to match their expectations to what they are willing to give the manager in support) and letting him decide who stays and who goes (no more favors to players Roman, you need to start doing the favors for your fans, your manager, and your club).

I think next season will be exciting for us. Not necessarily that we will win or even directly challenge for the title to the end, but I think we will have excitement.  It's what comes after the first season (or potentially second) that is my concern.  Anyways, best of luck to Sarri and I wonder if the club store might soon feature some smoking jackets...

edit: and with Zola coming Im super excited....Journo's should be too, he'll probably greet them with a cup of tea like that time outside his home :laugh2:

If the problem with Conte was down to him "making them work hard" he'd have been gone without playing a competitive match.

Very smart move by #Sarri to bring back #Zola to #CFC as part of his backroom team. As I revealed earlier this week, it was #Sarri who approached Zola, not #cfc

If I squint really hard and focus all my energy looking at that pic it still looks like faceless men

It’s not him, he hasn’t got a fag on the go...

Remember when AVB took charge who was going to get us playing nice attacking football and we appointed an Italian Chelsea legend as his assistant coach?

In typically Chelsea fashion here we are appointing a coach who is going to get us playing nice attacking football and we are appointing an Italian Chelsea legend as his assistant coach.

I mean, like seriously, how the f**k is this guy so well connected? He actually got access to a private selfie inside the clubs jet LMAO

He's been the chief peddler of the '48 hours' and 'Hot Monday' schtick this whole time. I think he's probably close to Sarri's agent. Only way he could have gotten those photos.

People really confuse what he says, he never, and i repeat, never in those hot mondays and 48 hours Said that Sarri would be announced, he merely Said that big updates were coming, and he delivered on those promises.

Also, most of his articles giving timelines, had a condition attached to them, like his articles from last week, claiming that Sarri was ready to fly to London, but only If De Laurentis releases him, which unfortunately didn't happen

Is this still happening?

It is around 6:00 AM in London right now.

We can expect the formal announcement in a few hours time.

I feel Sarri needs a third season as well. I feel he is sort of the type we need but due to our culture his time is cut short. Chelsea is his very big club. Even at Napoli losses to Juventus is normal but here you are expected to win City and so on.

Good read anyway. Thanks for posting it.

In this mad PC age, nice to have a manager who's got his own style and personality. He looked the type who wants to focus on football, and not drag into the power struggle with the hierarchy, think that's vital for any manager who wants a 'long' stay at Chelsea. He worked from the bottom to top, been to the  dog fight of relegation battle to fighting to the title. Let's face it, no other teams came close to knock off Juventus off the top, haven't they won it like a decade in a row or around that range? He won't be tactically naive like AVB, it's not like he only managed the best team in a small league

I don't think we are expected to beat Man City.
