Mendy is much better with his feet conpare to kepa. It is not even close

By his feet I meant no chance imo Kepa makes that same under hit pass Mendy made that gave Benzema his hattrick.

Yes, at City last season when he stood still (as normal) and Aguero chipped it down the middle.

Funny thing is with Kepa in goal we may well get past Real. Would he have saved the first two goals at the Bridge or the one in regular time in Spain? I highly doubt it. But would have he made the error Mendy did with his feet? Not in my opinion.

Aaah yes, what a hilarious day that was.

I’d still rather Mendy in goal than Kepa, but I just wish Tuchel would tell him to know what his limitations are. Most of his mistakes are all when he’s trying to play with the ball at his feet, whether it’s controlling it or trying to pass. If Tuchel wants an Ederson/Allison type goalie then Mendy isn’t the one.

Kepa's last horrah as a number 1 was an assist to Mane.

Fake news.

If that same shot was going on target, Alaba was blocking it, fact.

Gol please just look at the picture above. The ball has left his foot and Alaba is a meter away.

Had it been on his right foot I believe he scores, however is left foot is a standing foot only and he took then old swinger at it and we saw the result.

Havertz, Lukaku, Ziyech all blew better chances over the tie.

Also worth mentioning, and no one else has, that Tibo save at 0-3, he was already moving to his left as Havertz was heading the ball, he read it and that made the save possible. I believe our keeper just stood still on both Real goals. Had he gambled too he may have saved the first, maybe the second too.

Standing foot only haha I play Sunday league and I can accurately ping a ball 50 yards on my weak foot, nevermind 12 yards out. No excuse for someone that dedicated their life to the game to even have a weak foot

Irrelevant picture really, please look at the video I posted.

He’s been good for us but he’s influence is getting smaller in games.

The smart move would sell him this summer while we can get bit of money and get Declan Rice in.

Did you watch Bissouma yesterday against Tottenham? He regularly turns out performances at that level. Paper talk is Arsenal and Villa will be in for him in the summer. Personally I think more teams will be thinking he is worth a bid.

Don't think I could ever say he has been good for us. He has had a few good performances every now and again and last season was probably his best but it is relative to some very inconsistent seasons before that.

I think he is probably well suited to a less physical and less competitive league. The English league is not for him and his overall contribution  over his time at Chelsea shows it. He simply isn't equipped to deal with the way the game is played by players with probably  less technical ability but far more commitment and energy.

Yep, a very good player, I wouldn’t say no to him either.

He would definitely improve whoever he moves to next, and I’d prefer him over a player from abroad who has to adjust to the EPL.

And who might even never adjust.

Definitely more suited to a slower league for sure.

Kantes successor?

If that was the truth he wouldn't have lasted 4 seasons here to begin with.

PS. First goal doesn't happen without him making the through ball to Havertz.

In the match thread I mentioned that some people seem to think one or two good passes excuses Jorginjo  sleep walking through the rest of the game. You've just proven my point.

A routine 2:0 win while sleepwalking is pretty good if you ask me.

I don't think anyone doubts Jorgi's technical abilities. I said a long time ago in this thread that for me as a player he is defined, (or cursed), by his physical limitations, and they are many. No pace, lack of strength, not good at running with the ball, no aerial ability etc. Unfortunately he is playing in the one league where he really, really needs some of those traits to be a consistent stand out player. We saw examples in the first 20 minutes against Palace today when he was easily mugged twice in the middle of our half but fortunately for us and him, nothing came of it.

But the other big drawback for me is how utterly safe and conservative he is generally in his passing choices. Yes, he might have started a move for the Havertz goal but that is ALWAYS the exception rather than the norm with Jorginho. He had lots of opportunities to hit early balls today, before the Havertz goal, but in keeping with his modus operandi he either didn't see them or chose not to attempt them. He was slaughtered by the pundits on SKY at half-time, including Joe Cole, and rightly so. So often he slows us down more than any other player and it is so plainly obvious I can't see it is even worthy of a discussion.

See, with some healthy debate we find some common ground!

Whether people on here want to admit it or not he’s been instrumental in a very successful period in our club’s history and the disrespect he gets is pretty crazy. The first half we basically had 11 donkeys on the pitch and the first thing people want to do is blame Jorginho 😂

Yes he did lose the ball in the midfield in the first half, particularly that time when a player came from behind and he found himself in a 1v2. Mistakes like that happen, I think it was you that wrote about that after the Real Madrid match ended. I know it was due to Kante being at fault for multiple goals but still, mistakes can happen to anyone and not just to him. After all you even said that you would be totally OK with Kante doing those kinds of things regularly, in that case I think I'm fine with Jorginho slowing the game down regularly if it means that we would keep winning matches.

Yea regardless of some takes here I think it's pretty obvious that Jorginho has been a good player for us, I mean if he hadn't been he wouldn't have been a key player under multiple managers but overall him signing for us has been a positive thing for the club despite not being able to compete with Man City and Liverpool for the title.
