Mount has the misfortune of playing with this guy https://understat.com/player/2662 0.04xA per 90 this season, 0.09 per 90 last season. The statistics back up what is clear to anyone watching us, Pulisic is one of the least creative wingers in the league and the least creative winger to play for us in decades certainly since Roman bought the club. It's my main criticism of Pulisic on the pitch, he actively makes the team worse and the attack less functional because he's incapable of actually creating chances for his team mates due to having no passing ability and not having the dribbling ability to beat a man or create space. It's very difficult to have any kind of fluidity in the offence when 1 player has such a limited skillet. This quote probably would have carried much more weight had Pulisic NOT scored in his last PL game playing in his natural LW position. Some could even argue CP makes MM an even more dynamic player this season, seeing how Mount's best game of the season so far, and the game in which he racked up his ONLY two points in 8 games this season, were tallied with CP in a starting LW role and on the field. But, by all means, keep bloviating. You throw 100 darts at a dartboard, one or two is going to stick, mate. Edited October 10, 20223 yr by USATim

October 11, 20223 yr This thread is funny. Some things that stood out. The Tuchel defenders. He’s a good coach in the interim but beyond that he ruffles senior club leadership and loses the locker room. His track record speaks for itself. Pulisic. Talented player but relies on minutes for consistency and confidence. Been great? Hardly. Capable? Absolutely. Worst player on the pitch when he comes on? Hardly. Criticism of the Bundesliga? Fair? Debatable. Doesn’t seem to impede Bayern too much but then again debatable. Brings me Odoi since others brought him up. Pretty one dimensional player for Chelsea. As injury prone if not more than Pulisic. Same reality as Pulisic under Tuchel. He’s having a bit of a surge in Germany. Good on him. In his thread he’s being suggested for a recall of his loan in January. Has he really improved to warrant a recall in January or are his improvements due to German football? They are a sh*t league right?
October 11, 20223 yr Funny read, but I believe that both Mount and Pulisic benefitted from the change in formation. Tuchel teams are the places where wingers go to die. Happened at Dortmund and at Chelsea and Pulisic was not the only one that lost form under him. Mount, while effective in the 3-4-2-1, has more options in the 4-2-3-1 and it showed this weekend. Mount is much better in the CAM role than Pulisic, but I think Potter has a chance to get the best out of them both as well as Sterling by switching formations. Now it is up to the players to perform.
October 11, 20223 yr Pulisic will always remain a devisive player on here. From the stark critics to the beloved defenders. As per usual reality lies somewhere in the middle. The truth of the matter is Pulisic is not as good as American fans think he is, in context to what the general public (football fans, players and coaches) would define as an elite player. Pulisic is a game changer, he is a dynamic player and he has the potential to be the greatest player his nation ever produces. With that tag comes a certain level of pressure both external and internal. Is he over praised yes, is he overly criticised yes. The same arguments are thrown at the young man and it misses the point. He doesn't score enough or he doesn't get enough minutes, he dribbles too much and doesn't pass enough. The debate goes on and on. Does he not get enough minutes because he's not good enough? This will be answered this season. Tuchel is an excellent coach but he is by no means perfect. Lampard trusted Pulisic after he earned his trust whereas Pulisic never seemed able to win TT's faith like some of his untouchables. Unfair or reality that he's not good enough to be a starter. Likely Potter will give us a better understanding of Christian Pulisic. Signed under Sarri, he looked the perfect player to play in that system unfortunately this never happened. In Lampard's 4231/433 on the left wing he was the guy after project restart. No doubt during that period he was the best player in the league (temporarily). The FA Cup injury effected him as a player, he has lost a certain level of his speed. Yet his finishing is still elite imo. Potter strikes me as the best of our two previous managers, he can get the attack flowing like Lamps did before it died and he can get the defence to be solid like TT did in his early days. Now it's still too early to make too many judgements about GP, but from the outside this is my early observation. Back to Pulisic, as long as he remains a Chelsea player he should continue to receive our support. Do we expect a lot more from him than what we've seen? Yes, but it can't be easy to be injured so often and then finally get fit and not get game time. At 24 now he should really be kicking on, whether he goes next summer or signs a new contract will depend on the next 8 months. I have seen enough from Pulisic to deduce when fit and confident (very important distinction to make players are humans too they respond and react to how they're treated) he can be a good member of this Chelsea squad and can help build something big in the future especially considering his age and potential projectory. Maybe if some of us weren't so overly critical of him and others weren't so overly defensive of him we could all come to agree he's a promising player who needs our support to build his confidence back up and show us what he can do when he's fit, confident and in form. I loved him in his purple patch but he has been one of the worst players I’ve ever seen at Chelsea since then. Completely ineffective and useless. He’s producing now which is good to see and he’ll need to do that consistently. I keep seeing the comparison with Mount but he has been a key player for us for far longer than Pulisic ever was. Hopefully he’ll rediscover the purple patch form. Don't know about one of the worst players ever Dan. I've been watching Cuadrado in the Juventus v Haifa game and he makes Pulisic look like Maradona!
October 11, 20223 yr Good performance from Chelsea today, against a poor Milan side. How can we make this about Pulisic?

I will be more than happy to come out and say Mount has proven all the doubters wrong if he is able to bury the futebol in the Ole onion bag on his 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th or 20th shot attempts against Aston Villa next Sunday. Tune in! We're waiting Tim

Point is you chose the wrong player to target and Pulisic is still not good enough. So going on to the next player in order to try to deflect Pulisic, in this case Sterling, would look like a blunder to me.

Actually Tim this is a genuine question, are you a Chelsea fan first and foremost or a Pulisic fan. I am not being facetious. My first NFL team was the Chiefs mainly because they were the first team I saw and Bono ran a TD for 90 odd yards. I then changed team to the Eagles because I liked Andy Reid as a coach (there's an irony there), fell in love with the Eagles and they've been my team ever since through thin and thin! Except for that season, Doug's season. We're you a Chelsea fan originally or are you a Pulisic fan first.

Chelsea first time wise - grew up watching Lampard, Terry, Drogba, Czech - really developed a love for them and an intense hatred for Liverpool and Man U. That's back when we would get one game a weekend here in the US. Bigtime USA and CP fan, will be in his corner as long as I feel he can contribute on the field. If your question is do I value CP over Chelsea, the answer is as long as I feel he can make a difference and should be on the field you will hear from me. I think he has a lot left to contribute. If that is CP first now, then so be it. Edited October 16, 20223 yr by USATim

I just think this site in general is a bit unusual when it comes to an actual Chelsea fan site - here in the States our main fan sites for our sports don't have a forum selection where it flat out calls a player a twat (Ziyech) and wonders whether another poster will revel in a Chelsea player (Pulisic) playing like sh*t. This is on the forum listing for this website. So, when people bust my balls for my comments, I find it a tad hypocritical, to be honest. Edited October 17, 20223 yr by USATim
