February 25, 20197 yr Easy to say since we lost but Higuain, CHO and RLC should have taken the responsibility as attacking players on pens along with out captain and Eden.

Jorginho was the only penalty taker I disagreed with. I just think his approach doesn't suit a penalty shoot out. When you are taking penalties in a shoot out, you don't want any fancy crap. Just put it in, no messing around.

If we could have Cesar, Azpilicueta, Dave, Davide and Davey McDaveFace as our five penalty takers I’d be happy

But it can't really work after the third time of trying it. Keeper just has to wait
February 26, 20197 yr We went with the same penalty taking line-up as against Spurs in the semis. I doubt the decision was in Higuain's hands. You can't blame anyone for missing a penalty, it's just one of those things. Shoot-outs are a bit of a lottery.
February 28, 20197 yr He did well last night in my opinion, it's tough for strikers against spurs. He held the ball up pretty well, and he also put in a shift defensively. We struggled to break down some of the smaller teams this season, and I think higuian was brought in to help in that regard, so I'm hoping he can make the difference in the next 6 weeks, when we have a few games against teams that we failed either score against, or kill off earlier in the season.

It really isn’t though; Rashford, Wood, Vardy have scored against them this year. Seems we keep shifting the narrative with our 9s when they are unable to score. That is 2 goals in 5 league games, with the 2 coming against the worst team in the league. Edited February 28, 20197 yr by ducavis
February 28, 20197 yr I thought he put in a shift last night in a difficult game, and we shouldn't forget he has only been at Chelsea for about 4 weeks.

I'm not saying it is impossible for strikers to score against spurs. I'm saying in the last few seasons our strikers whether that be Costa, morata, or now Higuian have all had difficult games against 2 very tough centre backs. So with that considered I thought he done okay yesterday, he held his own physically and was unlucky with his only real half chance.
February 28, 20197 yr Got a run against easier opposition for the whole of March and I would expect him to chalk up a few goals in those matches. Really need him to start scoring with some regularity because right now I don't think we've been any better off with Higuain than when Morata was here so far and I'm not sure he's offered anything more Giroud could have done to date.
February 28, 20197 yr He holds the ball up better, uses space and movement better, uses his body better and passes better than Morata. Rather than back in to a defender looking to fall over and not win a freekick he’ll just come off the defender in to space to receive the ball. Unlucky with the goal that hit the post.
February 28, 20197 yr Yeah, if he scored that then we’ll be all praise the lord we finally have a deadly striker. Even for him to come that close, when the ball unexpectedly came, shows he has that lethal instinct in him. I think he’ll come good against lesser teams but when it comes to tough opponents I feel the age goes against him. Still, I’d take him over Morata any day.
February 28, 20197 yr I really don't think he was bad at all, we never played to his strengths, Higuain isn't a player who excels at playing with his back to goal. I think he looked well up for it but he got sh*t delivery.

Not done better then Morata? Weve got “Finding Dory” over here.

I mean ignoring the unnecessary passive aggressiveness of your reply what has Higuain to date contributed to the team directly to make us a better side? I think he's made roughly 7 appearances so far in the league and cup competitions and so far he's only scored in one of those matches which was against bottom of the table Huddersfield. So he's current strike rate for Chelsea is 1 goal every 3.5 appearances. Morata left us with 9 goals in 23 appearances a strike rate of 1 goal every 2.5 appearances. So if you can refrain yourself from a needless snide comment, tell me exactly how Higuain is an improvement so far?

Some of us watch the games and not the stats Higuain gets involved in the play, stays onside and doesn't throw himself to the floor when someone strokes his leg. That's all he needs to do to be better than morata.

He was bought in to help with our lack of goals... If he's not scoring said goals he's not doing the primary job he was bought in for. My original post was "Really need him to start scoring with some regularity because right now I don't think we've been any better off with Higuain than when Morata was here". So you might not watch the stats but they reinforce my argument about the goal scoring merits of the two players in a Chelsea shirt. Edited March 1, 20197 yr by ForeverCarefree
