Gonzalo Higuain

Or maybe they know Sarri is gone so don't want to keep Higuain?

There's that as well.

Rumours persist that Sarri could join Roma at the end of the season... Maybe we've already got a replacement lined up?

Not done badly... only three goals fewer than Maradona (in 16 fewer games), and ahead of the likes of Passarella?

I would hope he is ahead of a centre back

Just the 3 goals in 8 PL starts (10 overall) and people want us to buy/loan him next season.

Bizarre thing is he has admitted Higuain is struggling, Giroud might not be better but he has momentum going for him. Poor management and I feel like with Jorginho because he brought them in, he has a blind spot to their performances. He better not be starting again going forward.

Another nail in Sarri's coffin for me. He wanted him, he got him and Higuain is not even close to delivering. Looks fat, slow and useless.

Was there really no other striker in the whole wide world who we could have gone for?

But no, we had to go for the guy who was already struggling for goals in a league he was familiar with, parachute him into our team struggling for goals, allegedly because he “gets Sarri-ball”.

We might as well have stuck with Morata.

Or heaven forbid, Giroud got some games... but playing a striker who scores and links up well with our best player would be madness.

If he doesn't score soon he will look like a washed up player.

He doesn't just look washed up, he IS washed up. He's been slowing down more and more in the last year or two, the worst thing he could have done was move to a quicker and more physical league. A lot of us were saying he would be a poor signing, I'm just glad we didn't actually sign him on a permanent deal.

The striker isn't the issue, the service is. Pedro is a finisher and Willian is poverty. Barkley isn't creative and neither is Kante/Kovacic. Stick Aguero in our team and i'd bet he would struggle.

I got battered on here for saying he struggles with fitness and he's a slow player...

IMO Higuain came at a bad time - Morata isn’t any better than Higuain in terms of getting into positions for goal scoring chances, and Morata was getting a lot of service and he kept f*cking it up. Had Higuain come at beginning of season I’m certain he’ll be on double digits by now.

We’re in a slump and he isn’t getting any service. I can’t see us getting any better so Higuain won’t either sadly.

A lot of people had unrealistic expectations. People were looking at the success Higuain and Sarri had together in Serie A, but they were also ignoring a few important issues that have developed since those days, his age being the biggest issue. Higuain was never going to be one of these players that performed well in his 30's, he just hasn't looked after himself as well as others have done at his age.

His age, getting his fitness at the required level, adjusting to a new league and country, not as good as he used to be......all of the signs were there that he wouldn't be a successful signing.

He is a huge issue. He looks hugely out his depth. He has not got no pace and does not have the required fitness levels. Looks very lethargic. Yeah, service could be better but let's not blank out facts. Higuaín has been underwhelming and has not looked much of an improvement on Morata at all.

He has looked an improvement,  i think you're forgetting just how dogsh*t Morata is/was. Higuain is dropping deep at the moment to get any touch of the ball because the service is so poor. Playing more like a number 10 than a traditional 9.

He's not getting any service because he's too slow to get to the end of anything, not winning any aerial balls,  and his first touch is pretty ordinary for a so called elite player. Wrong player at the wrong time, even Sarri knew it by now.
