April 9, 20233 yr We're in a mess right now but there are some silver linings. Firstly I'm sure that even if our board is run by the biggest ego maniacs in the world, even they would admit that mistakes have been made. We have plenty of talent in the squad meaning when the fire sale begins either we get reasonable value or the new coach comes in and has plenty to work with. His job despite the owners best efforts remains one of the most attractive posts in world football. If we can get the next appointment right, they will be able to steer the club back on to the right path. Following on from the previous point, we are taking our time when deciding our next appointment rather than hastily rushing to make a decision. No European football next season means more time on the training ground. Nkunku will be here next season Realistically we won't be relegated. It might seem glum right now, but we do have a lot to look forward to. Enrique, Nagelsmann or whoever comes in has a huge task on their hands. However, after the Potter fiasco fans have proven they actually can back a project when it goes wrong (for as long as rationally possible). Add in an elite name and fans will be more likely to give them time. Finally we've got a UCL game to look forward to, realistically it looks like we will be slapped by Madrid. But it's games like these where we look down and out the real club spirit shines through.

April 9, 20233 yr A lot of people like to blame Tuchel's sacking and Potter's hiring as the reason for our current demise and while that maybe have played a role, I believe the tea leaves for this season were already written when we had one of the worst pre-seasons in a long time. I personally think our issues on and off the field stem from the fact that the club was forced to be sold in a very unideal manner and by the time it was sold this forced the new owners to try and do things quickly within one summer. The rapid turnover of the club didn't do anyone favours and it led to questionable recruitment in the summer. IMO if the sale of the club had been organic, Boehly and Co probably would have brought in the people they have brought in even before the transfer window started and there also would have been enough time for them to foster a relationship with Tuchel. Potter also would have probably benefitted from a team that already had everything in place behind the scenes before he signed. I think it's easy to point fingers at the owners right now and they definitely have made a lot of mistakes but I still think the people that f**ked us over the most were the UK government last year when they basically took control of the sale of the club. You then throw in inexperienced owners that have to replace several players that have been sold/let off their contract in the same summer they came and it easily becomes a recipe for disaster. In an ideal world, the club would have been sold before the season ended and our new owners would have had the time to learn the footballing culture and hire backroom staff before the season ended.
April 9, 20233 yr Many didn't want Potter, but had there been any signs of improvement along the way would have stuck by him. We need a manager who is decisive and recognises bits that work and bits that don't. Only by slowly building on the good bits, can you get to somewhere worth getting to. Had we not plummeted down the table, none of this current situation would have occurred. Any incoming manager needs to see the good bits and build on them. Potter failed to see them and kept changing everything, you'll never get stability that way. Hopefully Clearlake can stave off the financial disaster that's looming, perhaps then they will realise with their lack of true understanding about elite football, that they need to do the usual mega rich mans thing of appoint the right people to run things for you, and leave well alone. In summer i can see at least 25 players having to be sold, and everyone we deal with will behave like Levy. Nobody will achieve anywhere near their real value. Clearlake have to make this work, as they've sunk in so much money, and are tied in for 9 more years. Things were not right at the club for many years, but the despicable way we were treated because of Romans sanctioning, really messed everything up. We should have been allowed to continue running as normal, with restrictions put in place to keep all the money from Roman. That way the new owners would have come into to a reasonably running concern, and not had to go mental so quickly.

Clearly Todd doesn't know how to run a football club. We are finished. Yeah I find the blind assumption that someone who’s made a lot of money must be brilliant so simplistic. Particularly when the money was made during an era that rewarded reckless risk-taking thanks to oxygen the policymakers provided. Not only have these guys shown themselves to be terrible managers of a football club. They’ve also probably bought right at the peak of yet another asset bubble - “bubble” because what other word describes an environment in which Cucurella is worth £60 million or whatever it was..? What if there’s a bigger football crisis about to unfold… in which CFC is Lehman brothers?
April 9, 20233 yr Well you can't say we aren't earning a reputation as a joke club. It's good to be optimistic so I choose to be. Just want to temper that optimism with the fact that one of the greatest if not greatest club in the land are in a decade of near nothingness, extreme underachievement compared to their reputation and expectations, mainly because they got the first appointment after their legendary manager wrong. Even competent and successful managers appointed afterwards couldn't fully correct course. It's scary that's what TB did with us and could well go that way. Let's hope it doesn't. And we haven't even gone into the financial recklessness yet.

Chelsea’s future sits on the shoulders of James f**king Corden, that’s where we’re at folks! Don't believe this sh*te. " It appears" that his friendship with Frank helped get him the job. There's absolutely no evidence at all that Corden was involved. The fact that the story originates from The Sun should be a clue as to how to treat this Garbage.

The fact that he is friends with that tosser calls his judgement into question for sure. What a f**king circus. I'm more inclined to believe that story now !

The sale was rushed through because of the deadline, it was money and wealth that won the deal, not his abilities to own and run a Premier League football club However hopefully the talented young players he has brought in will mean a brighter future .....eventually. People keep telling me to focus on the long term.....well I do, and that is what scares me the most. The whole “focus on the long term” thing reminds me of the world of finance/investing - I’ve worked in that casino and the parallels are clear. The finance “industry” loves to talk about the long term. But it’s not how it works in reality. To an extent, the talk about the long term is just a ruse by the bosses, fund managers and so on, to get people to park their money with them and leave it there. So when something goes wrong they can say - “remember it’s all about the long term.” There are those in the industry and outside that WANT to be long-term focused. But very few actually can be when the shxt hits the fan. Not many people have the stomach for it, and if they do - they may not have the capital. Because those with the temperament to ride out bad times are a rare breed, they don’t get the chance to, as the plugged is pulled by members of the majority that can’t hack it, or circumstances don’t allow it. they don’t have the money they thought they had and need it for other stuff, and crucially - the lenders that formerly lent to them for nothing without asking any questions have suddenly tightened lending standards, or worse - are calling in loans.
April 10, 20233 yr What annoys me is the fans have been "potter out, potter out, potter out" now he's gone people are still moaning because our form hasn't improved and surprise, surprise, the players still can't score. The man took us to the 1/4 finals of the CL beating AC Milan pretty handily, the same AC Milan who beat Tottenham and thrashed Napoli the other day. The board listened to the fans, yet the fans are still whining. People will never be happy unless we are beating teams 3/4-0 every game and winning trophies every year. They are looking for a new manager to take over next season, so we have to just suck it up and deal with the sh*t this season unfortunately.
