It’s fine, Mendy and Silva will be back next game. They improve our defence massively, Palace barely had a sniff.

I’m not worried, the only thing I have against Lampard is playing Kepa.

Palace didn't attack one bit it mask our inability to organise a defence by the manager. I suspect even with Mendy and Silva teams will be confident of scoring simply because we are not organise defensively

I thought Frank messed up big time today. Although defense was at fault, it was his job to protect them when we were 2-0 up. How can he not see that Pulisic is best on the left. Then taking Mount off was criminal, instead he should have played second half and not from the start. Also, allowing loftus cheek, Barkley and Ampadu all leave on loan was wrong. We desperately needed one of them today to shore up the midfield.

Frank is a quick learner though, hopefully he will sort it out soon.

As soon as Palace attacked they got destroyed. That argument doesn't really work here.

5 wins in the last 10 games dating from many seasons before, you really think that our coaching is that bad?
Christensen has been a "young talent waiting to blossom" for how many years now?

I'm one of the few that actually gives you the benefit of the doubt on here, but this is absolute rubbish.

If we smash a team it's "well the other team was bad" if we lose it's "Frank is terrible, he has to go"

Stop this mentality please.

Palace had 4 shots all off target and 29% possession they didn't attack one bit our defence didn't get any form of testing

As soon as they opened up after the first goal they got destroyed, so your theory that they could have tried to play an open game doesn't work because as soon as they did, we scored so easy.

Their whole gameplan was to wait for a counter attack and if Chilwell wasn't at the end of that deflected ball and header they might just have got their chance in that game because we would take more and more risks as time would be passing on...

The difference was, we had a new keeper and T.Silva. If our coaching is bad how come it didn't affect THOSE particular players huh? I think I just shut down your argument.

Palace were sh*t that's not taking anything away from us but they didn't turn up and give us the fight they normally do

Yes Palace game plan has always been that counter attack which they normally excute well, this time round they were awful if you are saying this is Palace that normally turn up against up that's just disingenuous

Only Lamps can explain how he expects to go through the season with Kovacic, Jorginho, Kante & Gilmour as his option in the middle of the park in a 4-2-3-1, I am not even sure he considers Mount as an option in that 2.

I am still not convinced he will get away with playing 4-2-3-1 as we will be susceptible to counter attacks if we lose the ball. He seems to have gone Rice or nothing in the window, which might prove very costly.

So you are sure that it has nothing to do with us having a different keeper and T.Silva?

Sounds like Van Dijk has done his ACL and will miss the rest of the season.

In that case the title race should be wide open this season. Shame if we can't manage to be in that but hopefully we can get this turned around.

Another frustrating game and epitomizes the current state of the club.  Great going forward, shambolic at the back.  Lamps has to answer some tough questions.  Yes individual mistakes and many will say who else is he meant to pick, but he continues to repeat the same coaching basics.  He's my favorite player of all time, but I have little room for sentiment with what we continue to see.

- Why was Mount LW yet again, to the detriment of Pulisic out on RW.  Our best football came last year when our most direct player, Pulisic, played LW.
- Amazing what happens when you play Werner central, and Kai behind.  That is not a coincidence.
- What else must Kepa do to demonstrate he is not Chelsea or PL standard.  For Lampard to continue to pick him is inexcusable.  I'd throw Christensen in the same pile also.
- I'd love to see the score line from every game Zouma and Christensen have been paired together.  Just does not work.

We have become such a predictable team for all the wrong reasons, and it overshadows some lovely attacking play.  I don't think it will change though as we've been having these same discussions for a long time.  The only thing that would change that is a new manager.  I don't want that - not yet.  But if this continues I would not be disappointed if a change was made.

That's awful news - sorry to read that and terrible tackle.

Stop it, we smashed Palace, completely outplayed them. Everyone was predicting them to smash us before the game including yourself. Give credit where it's due. He might not be the man for the job but there are some positives there, going forward we are really good.

I might be the biggest Lampard-fan there is.

But he's already under pressure now. Two very tough away games coming up at Old Trafford and Burnley. I am never confident when we go to Old Trafford even with the best of form and Burnley is always tough.

Is it? Our easiest games of the last two season's were both at Turf Moor.

They "didn't attack" because we didn't let them.

I haven't attack Lampard before but I have to say today he was pretty poor in his decision making and I really don't know what he was thinking putting Pulisic on the right while starting Mount on the left. Also why bring on Ziyech when the situation he was thrown in called for either a player with speed for counter attacks or a solid defender to solidfy the 3-2.

I thought Mount was going to get a rest after playing so many minutes for England and today Mount really looked exhausted and without his usual energy. It was to be expected, why did he have to play almost 90 minutes then? I like Mount and I think he is a great player but he shouldn't have played today.

Mount should not be starting on the wing that is for sure. Either play him in his best position, or bring him off the bench later in the game. CHO and Pulisic should have started on the flanks today I think.

Unfortunately I don't think Lamps is a good enough manager for a club of our dimension yet. Our defending is horrible and our build up play isn't very structured and pretty susceptible to being pressed. Of course we're a threat going forward but that's a given with the quality we have at our disposal.

But apart from Allegri, who doesn't really fit the profile of players we've brought in and the more expansive playstyle the club seems to be keen to implement, there isn't a manager available who I would trust to take the club forward.

For this reason I would persist with Lampard this season, as long as we stay within touching distance of the top 4. The club have given him most of the players he wanted, now let's see if he is capable of forming a strong team. If he can't improve on last season, let's go for a manager like Nagelsmann or someone with a similar profile.

Think this is a good tweet highlighting some of the issue with our pressing. It's been an issue since the start and clearly it still is.
For the high press to work you need to act as one cohesive unit and we often leave massive gaps between defence and midfield.

To be fair to Frank, he has exactly 1 year of experience as a coach; in the Championship. Anyone surprised if the EPL and fighting for top 4 is a bit out of his depth?

Yep, off the ball we are so poor, that's one of the biggest problems.
