Well make Boehly confess like Plainview if he ever moves on our homegrown English core.

Frankly that is nonsense. I say that as someone who has spent 25 years getting up at ungodly hours to watch us play and someone who likes the way Mount plays.

Ok Rory Jennings 😄

What a plonker that bloke is. Saddest thing about social media is it has elevated those sort of tools to the rank of expert, when really his view is about as valid as anyone on this forum.

Bloke has some horrid takes on football. He even wanted Tuchel gone during preseason. 😄

So you missed the Ziyech run where he just shot over then, that just didn’t happen then?

that alone was more than what mount has done for as long as I can remember.

The pass that led to that run was from mount.. a cross field pass. As for his run he kept running sideways and didn’t take a shot till the angle was against it … main point DIDNT SCORE.. ziyech also lost the ball countless times.. over hitting or under hitting his pass..

Well I'm not a true chelsea supporter because for me mount is just another player and I don't attend many (3 in total) chelsea games. For me Mount hasn't come on this season, lost his place in the England team and may lose it in the Chelsea team if his assists and goals and key passes don't go up. He isn't in the team for what he does in defence thats for sure.

If I compare hime with say Gudjhonsen his goal output is less. I don't have the assist data. Kalou scored more goals every season

So for my non true supporter opinion he needs to have more end product if chelsea are going to compete for titles and he is going to be part of the team. Maybe if the rest of the team becomes more dominant then his contribution will grow.

And I am sure he is a really nice guy and works really hard and is very talented and is home grown.

Agreed its dried up this year but didn't he lead Chelsea in goals and assists last season?

14 goals at 18 years of age in Netherlands. Scored 11 at Derby. 8, 9 and 13 goals in his last 3 seasons here. Those are fantastic numbers for a midfielder.

Also agree he'll improve with competent players around him, he was putting up those kind of numbers in previous season with some proper average players around him, not had players close to the level Mudryk and Felix operate at.

There are numbers and then there are numbers. His numbers were inflated against poor opposition last season. Now that's not to say I'm not a fan of the boy. He's a great option to have, as is Gallagher, but still far from the level needed to start in any midfield or forward position.

You make a good point though in that he's never played with high caliber progressive players. I don't think the players around him were average, just not the profile to help take his game to another level. Let's see what he can do from now until the end of the season.

Don't think anyone wants to get rid of Mount completely (despite the astronomical amount of humorous defense arguments).

Damien Duff role suits him imo. Off the bench option with a lot of versatility, so hopefully common ground is met with contract renewal.

Pretty sure we will offer him a good deal, only reason he'd move is his role vastly reduced, which I don't see it happens soon. Tie him up to a long contract now, before his agent give him other ideas.

Sure, if we can get better player it is reasonable to play Mount more off the bench.

Now who is better and more importantly available.

Let`s just be honest. He played as a forward most of the time.

He plays either as an 8 or a one of the two 10's.

As an 8? Most of the games under Tuchel were 5-2-3 and Mount was one of the 3 forwards. We didn`t even play with 8s. Neither have we employed a classical number 10 in god know how many years.

No he didnt.

------------------Mendy---------------

-----Christensen-Silva-Rüdiger-------

James-------------------------Chilwell

-----------Kante----Kovacic-----------

----Mount----Havertz--Werner-------

This was basically our standard formation barring injuries during Tuchel. So yeah, Mount was played as a forward for most of the games.

Then again maybe my brain is not working and I somehow can`t remember. He definitely didn`t play as a defensive midfielder, that`s for sure.

You should watch him play. Not good enough.

Only reason his name isn't mentioned in the clearout of the squad is because he's an academy product and people get caught up in their emotions and feelings like an old woman knitting socks by the fireplace with an apple cider.

Well if he's this average for the remainder of his contract then I don't think a lot of people will really care.

There were several posts from yourself that hinted at the idea of selling him too.

A standard formation is much more fluid than what is written on paper. When Mount lined up as the 'attacker' he'd be the one dropping deep to collect the ball and progress it with Havertz and Lukaku or Havertz and Pulisic or whoever the other options were staying higher.

Sure sky sports didn't list him as a 10 or an 8 on their line up an hour before kick off but that's how he operated. Very rarely in the box.

The pictures you posted show clearly that he played more like a foward than a midfielder.

Forwards aren't dropping that deep. As previously mentioned, he was used as a link from midfield to attack, not as an attacker. Operated as an 8 or 10.

He basically played as a link between midfield and attack, in between the lines more than an out an dout attacker.

My view isn't controversial at all.

If Mount is as average as he's been for the next 18 months then it's not going to be controversial that he leaves.

I am not saying that you are wrong, but a fairer comparison would posisbly be Oscar or Willian, being midfielders, rather than attackers like Eidur and Kalou-less. Can't believe I used to call him Kalou-less actually. He'd be prolific against this lot currently.

Step him down for 2 games and bring him back for Dortmund. I'd be shocked if he's not then firing on all cylinders.

I'd love to see him in a free role behind a three of havertz Felix Mudryk.

Completely agree about taking him out the lime light for a bit.

Think he'll look better when he has better players around him to take the pressure off his shoulders and actually has decent players to get involved with. Just hope we can get a CM now to get the ball up the pitch quicker.
