Mason Mount

Sure, if we can get better player it is reasonable to play Mount more off the bench.

Now who is better and more importantly available.

Carney I'd like to see starting. Noticed he gets into very good attacking positions so I'd like to see him get a run of games. You then have Felix coming back.

For next season there is both Nkunku and potentially Felix tied down permanently.

Still people think our fans don't go over the top on the Mount hate lmao

There's a difference between having a blatant Mount agenda vs wanting Mount to have a reduced role.

What's a reduced role got to do with you making light of his CL winning assist?

Oh you're reaching now. When have I ever criticized Mount's performance in the CL final? I think I've been pretty vocal in saying Mount's best form was during that 2021 period. That's something I won't ever take away from him. My gripe is that we haven't seen Mount at that level for 2 years now.

So that equates to me nonsensically discrediting Mount's assist towards Havertz because Ederson touched it.

Thank you for beautifully proving my point. 😄

No you saying its been 2 years is absolutely reaching. And wrong.

Disagree entirely. He's been no where near that level performance wise.

CFC have been off the boil since wining the CL. Not a view many will share but I put that down to the football served up by Tuchel. It was so bad even the players gave up wanting to play it... anyone want Tuchel back here? His decisions to sell many of the all winning youth team is a direct reason we're splashing out millions on buying young players.

Mount is a good player, one of our best in previous seasons and from the academy! What more could you want. He’s allowed to be in a bit of a form slump every now and then. Isn’t like the rest of the team is pulling up trees.

He isn’t the terrible English player that sucks up to management twitter would make you believe. Just like Lampard hasn’t taken every team he has managed backwards. Or any other of those parroted  twitter takes.

Get into good attacking position??

Why do I want to replace Mount with a player who is good at get to attacking position.

One of Mount best skillset is connecting the midfield with the attacker. I need player who is as good as Mount at doing this or better and more.

You said felix n Nkunku. No way I will ask player who is as good getting shot of as Felix to drop and play connector. As for Nkunku

Purely from his highlight

Or this

Hmm he looks so much better playing as fw than as a midfielder.

I think the reason he gets a lot of stick is because most people who play shyte get put on the bench, unless he's injured he appears to start every game.

Who would you start over him currently?

But we don't play with traditional #8's. We play with dynamic attacking midfielders/wingers.

We've played a 343, 424 or 4231 variations under Potter. Mount has played as the CAM, CF, or one of the wingers so of course I want to see him getting into better attacking positions and so far Carney has done better than him in the limited time he's had. As far as being this 'link between the midfield', he's done a pretty poor job considering our midfield and attack has been shambolic this season, and this isn't even getting started on the amount of over hit passes or his chronic tunnel vision so apologies if I chuckled in your connecting with the attacker comment.

Felix and Nkunku both not only have better attacking qualities than Mount, they both were nurtured in similar formations at their previous clubs. Felix as a CF/CAM and Nkunku as a CAM/LF. If you want to talk about being that link between midfield and attack, have yourself a read on on Nkunku's analysis.

Carney has done relatively little in any of his cameos. These attacking positions you mention him getting into he forgot to shoot for one of them and the other one he fell over. Not saying he won't come good but he's not ready to be starting for us.

I'd rather start utilizing Carney more and having him build his sharpness vs having Mount continuing to get minutes and offering virtually nothing.

I'd rather Potter had played Gallagher and Ziyech more - which has finally happened... January 23

Thankfully now we have a few more options up front perhaps Mount will go down the pecking order.

Also, we seem to blame the no 9 all the time... when James/Chilwell/Kante are playing the no 9 get more service... for me Mount doesn't provide, he doesn't have enough end product and makes poor decisions - when to shoot himself and when to pass etc.

Occasionally he gets it right with a goal or a good pass but for a long time now it's been shyte.

Maybe he isn't but because he appears to be "un-droppable" perhaps that's the message that's getting sent out.

I'd rather have Felix/Mudryk/Madueke playing instead of either of them in the 3 behind the striker (Or Ziyech for Madueke because he's an unknown entity currently).

Am sorry but him and Kai needs to sit out a few games now.

I've backed Mount for years, but I agree with you.  Far too often he ends up slowing things down and breaking up our own play.  Also, you can tell he is terribly out of form as he now has a habit of always receiving the ball with his back to the goal we are attacking, and looks to shield.  He really has slowed down in his thought.

All of best chances came through him again. The left footed ball across to Havertz was a particular highlight. We really really need a proper pattern of play to allow him to actually do his work.

So the one chance then? I'd go as far as arguing it was more impressive from Enzo to actually find Mount in that position. Which is funny because Mount was practically holding Mudryk's hand that entire half instead of actually being a #8.

Bar the cross almost everything Mount did was wrong. Again. As many have alluded to, with Felix back he needs a good sit on the bench for the foreseeable future until mentally he can come back and fight for his spot.
