You must have been dropped on your head at a young age.

If you've watched him play for the last 6 months and think he's been a good player, then I think I could say the same for you

Also watched him for the 3 years before that and know he shouldn't be sold or players like Timo Werner are somehow better.

My 2 cents

it has really been bothering me how some people online and on social media treat certain players. There is no loyalty. “Get rid of Havertz” they say, “Mount is useless” they say. It’s the football equivalent of cheating on your wife when she has cancer.

There is no player in this team who is more of an embodiment of Chelsea than Mason Mount. Even down to the inconsistency.

But his character is brilliant, he is a top top person and he always works hard, he never complains, he never betrayed the club, he loves the club. Same for Havertz: always works really hard and is a great character. Then there is Azpi. Azpi played 500 games for the club and yet online he gets called useless.

You cannot only look exclusively at footballing reasons. If that was the case you would always flip flop around to whatever team plays the best football at a certain moment. That’s not being a supporter, that’s being a mercenary.

the word supporter has the word support in it, yet these people never seem to have the patience and empathy that such a concept implies. They throw players under the buss as if they are playing a video game.

Another example is Kepa. Is he the best goalkeeper in the world? No. But I admire how he has come back out of a really dark place. These type of players and the adversities they personally or as a collective go through is what makes you form a bond with the club. Imagine how boring it would be to have 11 perfect players? There would be nothing to discuss.

Chelsea is a bit of a madhouse and I wouldn’t have it any other way. You either enjoy the madhouse or you end up in one.

If you've watched rashford play last year and think he's been a good player

This is kinda similar thing that I heard last year with Rashford. Football is not that complicated, just watch more game. It is quite obvious who is good and who is not.

Great post.

Those that get it, get it. Those that don't, never will.

The difference is supporter against fan.

Every team that has won the league has had a strong core of UK based players within its ranks. Even better if they have been with the club since they were a kid. These players have a tendency to know the values of the club and the core support, who their main rivals are, what its like to play on the North East coast in January. They form the base of the club. Are they the best players within the squad? Probably not. They help foreign players playing in the UK for the first time to acclimatise. Mason very much is that player. Remove those from the squad and you will end up with a band of highly paid mercenaries who really care little for the club. The online abuse of Mason, especially on Twitter is to be honest a disgrace. I do wonder if ever reads any of the sh1te and if so,its no wonder his slump has continued.

Totally agree. Mason, Reece will be our core for many years to come. It's also the reason many advocate for Rice and Bellingham. English understand the system and the club etc.

I wouldn't say he is in a slump. I think he is always solid. I just think we're still trying to work out how to fit him plus 3 other players who want to always be in the same space. It's not clicking at all. Frankly it is why it is madness to buy so many wingers this window. More players all trying to play in the inside left or right channel.

I agree , his ability to be able to play in a number of positions has adversely affected his game. The sooner we get a settled side the better.

Mason, Reecey, Chalobah, Broja & RLC are children of the club

you don’t abandon a child or totally destroy them by saying to them over and over again that they’re worthless.

A decent person will be firm and critical but that’s because they care about you and it’s constructive criticism. Instead of saying “you’re worthless” you say “you can do better”.

Recently I have also been disappointed sometimes with Chalobah’s or Mounts performance but I keep on hoping that they will improve, because I think they are good players.

It's as simple as knowing football. The majority of fan base both on here, in the stands and around the world know that form is temporary and class is permanent. Sadly Mason Mount will never win over the new breed of fans that want a flashy forward to score 20 goals a season or a midfielder to assist 20 goals a season.

Every team in the world would benefit from a player with Mount's characteristics. The argument that 3 different coaches have built their team around him is overplayed, but remains relevant nonetheless. In the contemporary game to have a press resistant player who carries the ball forward, but can also press the hell out of the other team is always a valuable asset.

The fact he's homegrown and these so called fans tear him apart tells you all we need to know about them. If they don't see Mount as one of us, then they're not one of us either. Liverpool are interested in him if he becomes available, it is imperative we sign him to at least 5 years. He is part of a long-term core that will be Chelsea's skeleton for the next half a decade if not longer.

Finally to see the pass and to execute it to such perfection remains underrated (UCL assist), this young man is special and I genuine think those that hate him are jealous of a kid who grew up in an academy and gets to live his dream everyday.

Edit: For those that also are unaware he broke up with his longtime girl friend over the past 6 or so months which interestingly coincides with his loss of form. Players are only human as well, life happens and factors outside of football will play a role in the way they play. Give him time he'll be back.

My only thing stopping me from joining in with the Mount love that the last few posts have done is the fear of him not signing a new contract and going to Liverpool in the summer.

Mount is the litmus test for genuine fans that attend matches and ones 6000 miles away that believe waking up to watch it on the sofa is the same thing.

Ok Rory Jennings 😄

The clog they'd expect him to be wouldn't be as effective anymore without high goal scoring wingers.

The previous post and this one are top quality. I have exactly the same feelings, these young man are chelsea and we should support them if they want to be here and believe they can contribute.

There will come a time that perhaps its best for both parties they leave but i will still continue to support them i,e Abraham and Tomori are an example of that. i want them to do well and always check to see how they are performing.

How about clinging onto player of the year two years in a row? Double figures in goals and assists last season?

It might make sense if you talked about Havertz instead…

Havertz has 6 goals/assists so far this season, Mount has 5 goals/assists and look at the sh*t he’s getting. It’s ridiculous.

Havertz plays as a striker every game what’s his excuse???

Havertz isn't a striker. The earlier people realise this the better for the player

The wingers aren't scoring because they've got rid of their 'cogs' in the middle of the park. Wijnaldum left, Hendo is old, Fabinho dropping off. Mount comes in with fresh energy and lifts them, do we want that?

Unless i've interpreted you message wrong and you want Mount to wear wooden shoes...

I wouldn't give Liverpool a f**king thing, let alone Mount. Not convinced their attack is all that anymore. Nunez looks a flop. Gakpo not impressive since he's joined. Salah looks to have lacked sharpness since last season (coincidentally since he got his big payday) Mane is gone.

Diaz is the only Liverpool attacker atm that worries me and there is so much a midfield can do when individual quality is lacking from the attackers.

@Argo Couldn't of been any more spot on. This thread. 😄

Any slight criticism towards Mount, it is taken completely out of proportion.

I think @Bob stark lays that ghost to rest. Note the number of likes as its spot on.

This thread is weird. It is actually very simple.

Is Mount playing well? Hell no

Should Mount be dropped? Absolutely

Is Mount a very good player? Yes
