thats not true.. if AJax win both their games and we draw with Valencia and LIlle we are thru as the worst case.. because Valencia play us and Ajax..

For me it is weird we can't defend setpieces. That is nothing to do with philosophy of football. Those are special plays. Frank should get this right at some point.

Well, we have to draw or win at Valencia to get through it would appear.

Again, assuming everyone beat Lille.

We lose at Valencia and best we can be is 10 points. Valencia beats us and Ajax beats Lille, Valencia and Ajax are level with 10 points, us with 7 and one match to go.

If that happens, a draw between Ajax and Valencia magically gets both through with 11 points.

If we can draw at Valencia, we would be tied with Valencia at 8 points and Ajax on 10. If this happens, we are through to next round with a win vs Lille regardless of the Ajax-Valencia result. If Ajax wins, we would be second. If Valencia wins, we would be second. If Ajax and Valencia draw, We would beat Ajax for the group winner in a tiebreaker.

So, it’s really as simple as that. MUST draw or win at Valencia, otherwise almost impossible.

Yep, it's got to a point where when we concede a freekick we've given the opposition a key chance. 

I actaully knew when Pedro fouled their player against United, I just knew something was going to happen and it did. I think Kepa has to take a lot of responsibility for this also. 

Valencia was another game where we outplayed the opposition and they score a setpiece.

If we draw against Valencia and ajax beat lille. 

Ajax 10

Valencia 8

Chelsea 8

 

We then beat lille, have 11 points. 

Ajax could win, they come top, we come 2nd. It could be a draw, we come top and Valencia come third. Valencia could win, we come top.

I tend to agree so at least two of us could be unpopular. No way we win it so q is what’s the most painless stage to go out and it’s probably the group stage. Obviously I’d still rather we had a decent run in it and we get to watch more games that way, but I won’t  mind too much if we don’t get out of the group.

No - because Ajax and Valencia play each other in the last game .. so they can't both get three points ...

Draw at Valencia and win Lille at home. If Valencia manage to draw Ajax game we win the group.

The one game where Tammy could take a page out of Morata and Giroud's book. Morata for the headers and Giroud for playing in people around him.

So many chances missed because Tammy doesn't time it right or fails to play in Batshy or anyone around him. 

Bats should have scored. The chances he got were the chances that world class strikers finish with their eyes closed.

I think a draw at Valencia and a win at Lille would do it. Although Valencia would have a better head to head they would have had to beat Ajax to match our points and then we would be ahead of Ajax.

If only there was more stoppage and we scored in the last 3 minutes which is not improbable at all as we had a shot on target every 1-2 minutes at the end, it would've been one of the most iconic group stage games to be watched over and over
