I think Frank has a vision of Kante with Mount and Havertz in front and I must say I like the idea a lot. Which one would play further back and play the "KDB role" who knows but Havertz looks like he could play anywhere and do it very well. He is clearly very potent further forward and I think he'd be lethal with Werner.

You can understand Frank is after him. He gives you goals from midfield. I think his most impressive asset is his ability to just sneak into a good position to score. He is also very cool in finishing. Very much like Frank was.

I almost don’t care if this guy is the next maradonna. Our need is a ball playing top defender like Ricky Carvalho backed up by a couple of reliable hard working full backs. That said a really good flashy attacking team is great to watch.

He'd be a fantastic signing, we'd score 100 goals next year with the attacking players at disposal, probably concede 50 at the other end through

Being very generous saying we'd only concede 50

Seems all our efforts are focused on this atm, so hopefully it gets confirmed quickly and we can move onto more pressing matters.... The defence.

I'm sure they are negotiating for other players. Especially if you believe the rumour we haven't put a bid in yet. I could see Onana or Tagliafico coming in but 3 players from one club seems a bit much. Some money being diverted to buy Havertz might make us go for a cheaper LB than Chilwell.

Havent heard anything really though aside from the odd rumour here and there, I hope you are right though. Emerson looks set to leave so we need to get Telles or Tagliafico asap

I'd be amazed and quite frankly concerned if we decided to pay something in the region of £70-90m for this guy considering the weaknesses in our defence. That surely has to be the priority. Nobody from our back line (including keeper) has covered themselves in glory this season, with inconsistency throughout, so why splash a large chunk of the budget on someone who would then shunt either Mount, RLC, or CHO even further aside. Just doesn't make sense.

As poor as our defense can be lack of edge is just as big an issue. How many times this season have we dominated games only to draw or lose? Against Arsenal at home they had 2 shots we had about 20 and somehow the score ended 2-2.

With the likes of Ziyech, Havertz and Werner we will punish teams while we're on top a lot more often which will in turn means less cases of opponents getting a leg up completely out of the blue like Palace got last night, with Guita's save followed by Zaha's thunderbolt the game turned from a 0-5 to chaos in the space of a minute.

Sometimes you just have to go for it and worry about everything else later. Theoretically we should have sorted out our midfield instead of going for Hazard but that turned out okay.

Well there is a reason why top attackers cost more than top defenders, a lot of our problems would go away if we sign Kai, he can play as an offensive midfielder and as a striker. The amount of fear factor would be huge, lower end teams wouldn't dare playing much, the risk of knowing that one bad pass could result in a check-mate in a matter of 20 sec is a big part that divides top teams from lower teams.

Palace for example simply doesn't have the depth as we do, our subs and bench made the difference so it all comes into play, remember how Costa used to drag a whole defense like an animal and because of that our own backline had an easy time?

Definitely! Very exciting times really

Reminds of those times where there would constantly be 2 or more defenders on Hazard at once, which leaves other players open for us

It's simple. When a potential future Ballon d'Or winner becomes available to sign then you sign him.

We can fix the defence and goalkeeper issue the following season.

Klopp bought Salah, Mane and Ox first.

Fabinho, Alisson, Van Dijk the following season.

I'd take him, of course I would, but not for the £90m that's being bandied about.  If we could drop that fee by about £15m then it'd be much more reasonable.  I think we can negotiate that fee down a bit as well.  Hopefully we sort something out though because I'd love him in the team and we would look so much more formidable going forward next season.

is he really THAT good. people on here make him sound like Messi. I don't watch enough German football, so a genuine question?

I still think I'd prefer Sancho for that money

I think the excitement comes from the fact he could do a job anywhere in midfield except CDM and could play anywhere on the front line. I'm by no means a KH expert but he seems to have excellent technical ability, natural space finding skills and physical attributes to back it all up.

Many fans seem to be looking at this move as a Havertz OR defense. Why is that? What indication do you have that we can only sign one player? Patience is needed here. Judge the club at the end of the transfer window if then you believe certain critical areas were skipped.
