Sturridge was decent as well.

Only for half a season playing as a winger though while never pressing or tracking back.

We turned the corner that year the moment Robbie did away with that and started to play Ramires more on that side.

It’s an awful list though isn’t it. We just can’t seem to sign strikers. You would have to say that only Drogba, Anelka and Costa have been a true success.

I would give a nod to Crespo (clearly quality but just couldn’t settle), Eto’o and Giroud.

The rest..well enough said.

In all fairness, quite a few of those we bought were past their prime and coming into the prem for the first time.

Shevchenko and Torres being the best examples of these.

Comparing that list with Werner, he is still young and on his best form at this current moment and already proven he can do it on big stages - which can't be said for the majority of that list

I have no doubt if we had of Gotten the Torres before Rafa played him into the ground, and ruined the legs of a superb striker, He'd of been brilliant, probably same with Sheva, Crespo just circumstances, but to have a top top Argie for a while fabulous

For sure, its just the majority f the time we have been going for strikers who were past their prime! We rarely went for ones who were currently at their best or just headed towards their best!

Drogba being a sort of brilliant Gamble, that turned out well, Last young decent striker, Eidur, Tore, Kerry....its a tough one

In my time going to bridge early 80's, can only think of Kerry Dixon, Hasslebaink, Drogba and Costa as successful main number 1 strikers, 4 in nearly 40 years, we've obviously had other great strikers, but they weren't your main one.

I reckon he would play on the left and Tammy would play as well. He plays as an inverted forward and his heat map show him coming in from the left massively. Might explain why Lampard wants Chilwell to bomb down the left and take up the space Werner would leave. Interestingly I think Giroud would compliment him perfectly as well. I could see:

Werner Tammy Pulisic

Just look at the speed. This was the goal he says is his favourite scored for Leipzig. In games where we are up by a tight lead, this will be perfect. Coincidentally, Leipzig were 1-0 up that game and ended up winning 2-0 with that perfect counter.

Whoever said he is fragile should watch that pace and power

You forget a certain Dutch Moroccan we just bought?

Though the scenario that was quite common for our squad wasn't having the narrow lead and then finishing the opponents but the 0:0 games where teams just looked for the counter and while our own attack was struggling...from what I've noticed in the past 2 seasons under Sarri and Lampard is that if we score the first goal it usually goes well, the odd loss was Man City for example but usually when we did manage to score early on, the team did well, the problem was the epic struggle when the squad couldn't draw first blood so to speak...

Obviously Werner would be a great and much needed help for both scenarios but I doubt that he will have so many touches in the box in the PL like he has done in the Bundesliga, ever since Sarri we don't play for the counter attack most of the time but against Man City for example we could do it.

Werner makes amazing runs and he's really fast, Mount and Ziyech should be super happy to play along side him, Jorginho as well. Tammy should be his best partner as Werner isn't that good in the air but benefits a lot from having a partner like Tammy.

Pulisic will be the most unhappy player when Werner comes, which is crazy because he's really skilled but Werner is better at this time.

I found a good video here it is:

I disagree. I think this is actually good for Pulisic. Now, he's under more pressure to perform - consistently. Either produce or sit on the bench. And you know Yank always seem to do well with a chip on their shoulder. Just ask Dempsey.

I completely did but he could also play AM. But then where does RLC/Mount play? So yeah maybe Werner Tammy Ziyech.

Those are good problems and that front three is deadly.

we are stacked in midfield which is why I’m not sure how Havertz is our next main target, we have an abundance in midfield and not much at all at the back, but maybe frank wants that real star quality.

But you can imagine an attack of pulasic, Werner, Ziyech with Havertz behind them, that has to be one of the top 5 attacking line ups in world football.

Can you imagine that with hazard on the left instead, he will be kicking himself if that’s the way we line up.

Hazard won't have any regrets, he always wanted to play for Madrid. Just rotten luck that we had to use funds from Hazard to get great attackers, like Werner and Ziyech. It would have been fantastic to see them play with Hazard for sure, we'd be unstoppable.

Havertz is a generational talent, I'm going to say this now before he goes anywhere, I think he'll be held in same regard as Zidane when he's peaked. You don't want to miss out on a talent like that.

Definitely agree with Havertz being generational, but come on now... Can't be comparing to a top 5 player of all time like Zidane before he's allowed to drink legally in the US.

He has massive potential, but thats mostly what it is, has a long way to go

That’s a big shout, he is talented but the next few years you’ll see what kind of player he will become he has potential but he is a long way off peaking and a lot of kids look great at 20 then just fade out...time will tell

???

Some of the comments from Liverpool associates have been embarrassing about Werner, How the f**k is Werner not good enough for Liverpool. The recent success has really gone to the heads of Liverpool fans, as good as the Liverpool front 3 have been for the last couple of years I would say Mane is the only one who has consistently operated at truly world class levels.
