June 21, 20206 yr So not only does Kante walse back in he does it at the expense of the most deserving player to start on merit. f**king hell I thought the one thing we would never have to worry about under Frank is players getting in on reputation given how vocal he was about Sven doing that.

Be reasonable.
June 21, 20206 yr This is a must win game for us with the results going the way they have, especially with SU dropping more points today!!

Have you watched them train by any chance? We can't judge the merits of anyone starting based on what happened three months ago surely? Gilmour will get his chances.

Yeah, imagine putting in our midfielder with the best defensive attributes when we have a defence that ships more than UPS. Kante is the best player we have at the club. It’s also been 3 months since our last game so form isn’t relevant at all, Frank has seen the players train and in the friendlies - I’m sure he’s picked the players which give us the best chance of winning.

June 21, 20206 yr Kante over Gilmour is more than understandable. Weird times call for experience and leadership. Billy has his chance coming off the bench.
June 21, 20206 yr I actually like our line up except the rudiger Christensen partnership... Zouma and rudiger are a dominant duo and kept cleansheets in our 2 previous games. I know christensen is good on the ball but he is a softie off it

More teams have carried on where they've left off than not, in the PL and German leagues the only team who's performances are spectacularly differing from before the break are SHU and Hertha Berlin. And regarding the defensive issues, Gilmour in the team went a very long way to fixing them and not only that his speed of thought meant we were catching teams on the attack quickly and with more space to operate, both the first two goals against Everton (and the chance Mount had prior that Pickford saved) came down to that. Also regards to the work since the restart, if his stats Vs QPR were anything to go by Gilmour isn't slowing down either. I always try and think outside the box regarding decisions even one's that seem baffling on paper but Gilmour did not deserve to be dropped.
June 21, 20206 yr Bit surprised to see Tammy on the bench. Any reasons for that?No idea. Giroud looking better in training lately?

If i remember correctly he was carrying an ankle injury before the season stopped, maybe he's still not 100%. We looked good with Giroud upfront the last few games as well... June 21, 20206 yr Welcome back RLC! Great to see him back in the team. Just hoping he gets through the match unscathed, as anything beyond that is a bonus.
June 21, 20206 yr Interesting lineup, not a fan of that back 4 though, Alonso sure, better alternative than Emerson, but that CB pairing I'm not a fan of, not sure why Tomori has been completely kicked out, and imo Reece should always start.

I know christensen is good on the ball but he is a softie off it Maybe he's starting because of his passing since Jorginho can't play? Though if that was a thing to fix it would be enough to put Gilmour instead of Kante but then we would really look soft and easy to pass by...
