Baby steps mate, im just shocked to see him posting after a win, he usually dissappears for a few days.

A Chelsea win today. Only need Tottenham to lose again tomorrow and it will totally ruin his New year's celebrations.

Actually for me until now I have felt he hasn't really had that much of an opportunity.  But today he had every opportunity and I thought he was generally woeful. All he can do is receive the ball with his back to goal and hold his man off for a few seconds. If this is his level I would put him as mid table Championship standard. On this showing he certainly isn't the answer for us and we absolutely must have a reliable striker.

Broja deserves more chances reminds me of when it was argued Batshauyi deserved more chances.

As with Morata vs Michy then, I'd still take Jackson out of the two despite his flaws 10 times out of 10. Hopefully he can prove me in someway wrong as he's going to play a lot next month but I'm not confident.

Likewise. Just not convinced.  It's the one position where so often players burst upon the scene and then settle in the side. Rooney, Owen, Fowler, Rashford. There are numerous examples. I just can't see anything happening with him. Shame, but I suppose the misses are much more prevalent than the hits. I suppose it is all about knowing the time to cut our losses and look elsewhere

My feeling remains this injury has hit him mentally and, even more so, physically. Like CHO and RLC after their injuries.

Nobody else going to comment that, with Broja on the pitch, Lutons set pieces were nothing, without him we looked hapless.

I know, before you all rush in, you cannot pick a striker based on his defensive ability.

So many in a rush to gleefully point out his flaws though, almost like it brings them joy to claim revenge on another Chelsea player because another has been receiving heavy criticism.

Why would a Chelsea fan hate any Chelsea player? Be disappointed, point out their issues, but on here alone we often see one with hate for Gallagher, one with hate for Broja, plus others?

Why? Does that make you "proper Chels"?

I'm sorry but I disagree with this. I have made these comments before.  I am a fan of the club, the team and therefore each of the players within it. However each of those players contribute to the whole and identifying a player that I feel is unsuited to the team doesn't mean I hate them. Far from it, i just dont think they will form the future of the side. In fact you could argue that persevering with a player that isn't going to make it prevents the likes of Mason Burstow getting a chance to prove himself. For every one of our stars and legends there will be loads of near misses that didn't quite make it. Bamford, Nicholls, etc.

I massively hope that Broja ends up being our Harry Kane, but I never thought he was particularly prolific before his injury. Your comparison to CHO and RLC could well be valid and maybe he never will reach the potential that he may have shown at the outset.

Think it's unfair to suggest anyone hates an academy player just because they don't think they're good enough.

No one hates Gallagher or Broja, I love both of them, I think everyone loves seeing academy players in the team but more importantly everyone loves seeing quality academy players who deserve to be in the team.

I honestly can't count the number of academy attacking players we've had better than Broja,  everyone from Tammy to Solanke to Borini to Di Santo to Carlton Cole to Muzzy Izzet to Scott Sinclair to Graham Stuart.

The list of better prospects we've had than Broja is endless because he's a complete donkey.

That's no disrespect he just clearly isn't talented enough to play at the highest level the ability isn't there,  that's true of most the names I've mentioned which is why despite being in our academy they all spent most their careers elsewhere playing at a lower level.

They had good careers in football but they just weren't good enough for us,  Broja not being good enough doesn't mean anyone hates him but it's clear certain posters judge him to a different standard than they do Jackson solely because he's from our academy.

Was not aimed at you fella. As I said be disappointed, point out his flaws, no problem that's all well and good.

Some go further though.

I think it's pretty obvious you don't love Broja. Everyone on here knows that.

But I was more interested in your alleged claim that you love Connor. Especially given your oft repeated loathing of our numerous supposedly untalented youngsters. So I went back and looked through the Connor Gallagher thread from the start of this season. I couldn't find a single post you have made. Not one. Isn't that surprising?

Connor was really dividing opinion and copping a lot of flack early on. I thought you might have at least been popping in there occasionally to make a post giving him your backing and .......... "love".

Yeah but you are no fan of Sterling. Sigh. A whole week to the next game. I don’t think Broja is a patch on Jackson but unless he is sold he will play a lot during ACON. In terms of this season it’s a call by the club as to whether to buy a striker in Jan and sell Broja or wait till summer. How many extra points would we get with a new striker.? Someone  like Le  Sulk. It’s not just the point it goes to team morale.

With all this talk of selling Broja, which club is buying him ? There is huge risk associated with a non-scoring striker feeling his way back after a serious injury ... who is on six figure per week wages ...

I am not alone in being disappointed with his selfishness, it has been an issue that has cost us games.

But I do not hate him, dont make out that I do Oz.

There will be plenty of interest in him. West Ham for one.

*only* on £40k a week apparently. Imagine he'd be an interesting proposition for any low level Prem team or team pushing promotion in the Championship given his age.

Ah ok - I thought he'd signed a new deal for a lot more than that.

Still not sure who wants a non-scoring striker, whatever his wages are ! Which clubs are even linked with him ?

West Ham seems to be the main one being linked for January. Could see Southampton making a move in Summer if they come up too.

There will always be clubs like, Arsenal and United for example, that think we are misusing players. We've been proven right with everyone we sold recently that they weren't good enough.

Broja is different as I actually think there's a player there. I don't think he will be a success in the Prem though as a one man striker.

With Broja, it just feels like he's been around a long time and not really gone anywhere.

Ive only seen clips of him, I think he has some very good control and makes decent curved and intelligent runs. He just needs to stick the ball in the net. It's all the strikers have to do, or give it to someone who can. Hoping we get to see a run of him in the side, because I think, he, like Jackson has goals in him. But he does need to get up to the speed of the premiership quickly. I can't see us signing big this January so its sink or swim time for him with us and I hope he comes good...

Really disappointed in what I've seen of him this season so far...

Maybe I was biased at the time but I remember him being so much better. Unfortunately i wouldn't be really upset if he was sold to fund an experienced striker. Shame really...and part of me hopes I'm wrong.

Unless you have a plan, you don't sell your st. It is an absolute nightmare to find a PL ready st.

You're right.

But Broja himself isn't a premier league striker which is why he has to be sold and we need to bring one in this month.

Call me crazy but I think it might be worth giving Lukaku another chance instead of spending silly money on the likes of Toney, Oshimen, etc. Broja can be backup and Jackson goes back out wide left.

I think Jackson will come good up top. He needs time and someone to show him how. He lacks the basics that everyone else knows from the academy years...he's got an enormous amount to learn. 5-6 yrs ago he was still playing street football. He's had to learn to wear football boots at the age of 16! That's insane...to be thrust in as a target man in one of/the best league(s) in the world. He's doing amazingly well so far.

But I think lukaku's time has come and gone. Him and broja can go. We just need an experienced striker for 2 seasons max to bed in Jackson (and to some extent nkunku too).

Good luck finding one.

You can call bournemouth for Solanke, 100m

That ship has sailed.

But you simply cannot lose both Tammy and Lukaku unless you have a plan. If your plan is auba then you don't have one.
