Don't think the few minutes he is getting here is enough. Jackson will miss a lot of January due to Afcon so I suspect Broja will get more opportunities.
December 16, 20232 yr Just saw the chance he miss😳😳 it’s harder to miss FFS, had that been Jackson he would have been crucified.

As someone who was, and remains, a big supporter of Broja he has not returned to the same player from that injury. He needs games to get it back, though I am concerned he may never get his explosiveness back.

December 16, 20232 yr I think the problem with Broja is he's returned as exact same player he was prior to his injury and not the top talent or answer people imagined he was while he was out. He's a big strong boy but he's 22 and in terms of technique and intelligence he's shown nothing to suggest he should be at a top club.
December 16, 20232 yr Author If you look back to the first post at 18 he looked a terrific prospect, I can only assume his knee injury has taken its toll.
December 16, 20232 yr I do feel for Broja, he was out for 7/8 months with a horrid knee injury and he's only played 250 minutes since. Ideally he would get a loan but with the striker issue we have at the minute it just isn't feasible.
December 16, 20232 yr Currently his only Chelsea goal this season is down to a defender kicking a ball at him that rebounded into the net. Really should have added #2 today ... not sure he's going to get a better opportunity than that one !
December 16, 20232 yr Needs a champ loan for the rest of the season and to play week in week out, just to see if there is anything there for next season.
December 17, 20232 yr Putting the miss to one side the rest of his play was encouraging. He'll be needed during ACON.

Yes he should have scored, though the ball was slightly behind him which forced him to open up his body and try and drag it back with his right foot rather than let it run across his body and finish with his left. I find it amusing to the few who say he has no technique. I don't know what they are watching. His first touch and control are very, very good for a big guy. He's been out for a year and back for about 5 minutes and some of the usual suspects are already writing him off. Laughable really.
December 24, 20232 yr I know the Christmas donkey is always popular but did we really need to see this Ass today? Can't get my head around how people say we needed to get rid of young CL winners like Werner, Pulisic, Havertz, Mount etc to challenge yet this 22 year old mule needs more time so he may one day score the 3rd goal of his Chelsea career. 2 in 31 now. Makes Higuain, Morita, Shevchenko, Torres, Kezman and Mutu all look like Drogba

December 24, 20232 yr Slow process to rebuild him after such a horrible injury. Can see the desire is there but he is very rusty. He need a loan imo.

Waste of a loan spot imo. Broja's had 2 loans, didn't look good in his other PL loan. Honestly don't think rebuilding him is the issue the issue is he wasn't very good before his injury, isn't very good now and just isn't talented enough for where we should be. Needs to be sold early January.
December 24, 20232 yr Never understood the hype around him at all he’s okay but not a player that will get you championships even as a squad player

Other than a bit of hope from Chelsea fans I've never really seen the wider football community particularly impressed by him and rightly so. There is never a quality player lurking underneath Broja. Just like Odoi people sometimes excessively clinged to the idea that the player would eventually return from what were admittedly serious injuries to become top players. Reality is neither were ever that good. If we put Broja on the transfer market in January I'd be surprised if a single Premier League team was interested.

Sadly it's a common theme with academy players. We seem to cling to this enduring Roy of the Rovers notion that hometown kid comes through to be the next Roy Race. The reality is that this doesn't really happen any where so why should it here. I'm not sure yet if any of our academy players are long term elite players. Gallagher and James are a bit further along but I am not totally sure about the others tbh

Yea within the Chelsea sphere, there was much talk of him returning and how he will help the team which I never saw happening.
December 25, 20232 yr He has some good qualities in a forward that I like, but where are the goals? He's not doing enough to score goals and that's the problem. Say what you want about Jackson but he's at least our top scorer.

One of which was an a deflected/own goal against Fulham that Broja was awarded. This is like an Alonso/Emerson ordeal all over. The former is pissing everyone off that they are pretending the latter is somehow better.
December 26, 20232 yr With proper coaches Broja could end up being a beast. The question is which younger players are we actually capable of developing?
