Surely Dave would be a better option even though he would be out of position, Alonso is painfully slow and cant defend to save his life.

I think Lampard is still concerned about his injury, he was guilty of rushing players back from injury last season. Think starting Alonso and replacing him if things are not going well is a better idea than bringing in Azpi and have him get injured within 20 minutes and being stuck with Alonso for the remainder and losing Azpi in the process.

I hear that, but have we no other options? Emerson is a better defender than Alonso, or even Rudi in the centre and Christensen at Left back, Anything but Alonso

 

Imran...your spot on Azpi is still injured he has to give everything thats his game. Yes Alonso looks like hes running through treacle and cant defend, though he can attack and takes a sweet freekick.......Azpi is also not a left back against class opposition.

Must admit that of all the possible ways to set up the side, 4-2-2-2 wasn't even on my list ... will be interesting to see how we get on ... let's hope Frank has this one right.

Looking at our selection, the goal threat pretty much looks limited to Werner and Havertz, and to a lesser extent Mount I guess ...

Hope we're playing a 433, diamond or a 4132.

Azpilicueta had some of his best game for us at LB and Alonso will be get completely destroyed by Salah and TAA. Injury risk or not he should play in such a big game.

Iam shocked about mount getting the rough end of the stick from some of the masses ,maybe i fully dont understand 100% of the game or mounts game so understand why mount has critics . I think mounts pressing is 2nd to none and it turned into goals a few times last term . What am i missing ?

Liverpool will have the ball all game it seems.
