Looking like Real will be matching us with 3 at the back just like they did against Atalanta.  The midfield will be key . Hopefully the Kante twins and Mount can protect Jorginho.

                Militao      Varane     Nacho

Carvarhal   Modric   Casemerio   Kroos   Marcelo

                Benzema         Vinicious.

That midfield 5 is some fantasy football stuff. Midfield is where this tie is won and lost. We really need to play some brilliant stuff to beat them.

I feel like we can nick this first leg if we play smart and aggressive. I love Havertz but his timid play isnt needed for this game. f**k a false 9 , we need a striker that will be aggressive and  exploit the space behind Reals defence.  We also need  the attacking midfielders to be able to drop deep to support Kante and Jorginho because they will be outnumbered by Madrids midfield 3. will go for the same team in the Fa cup semis besides Kepa in goal

                            Mendy

              Azpi       Silva          Rudiger

James       Kante        Jorginho          Chilwell

                Ziyech             Mount

                          Werner

Looks like Pulisic is having the UEFA interview with Tuchel so my line up is nothing but a pipe dream  😔

I don't think Marcelo will play, but if this was the case, I'd fancy James running him down. Marcelo is already aged, he was never know for his defensive work although he was a threat attacking. James has the energy to defend him and also to take the ball up in our attacks. Alternatively, maybe CHO can even be more of a threat down that side as Marcelo would never keep up with him when attacking and Azpi and CHO can defend him.

The Real Madrid doesn’t seem like a galatico team at all but they seem very effective.

Is the second leg at the bridge?

Yes

Going to try to enjoy this. Will be a great learning experience for us no matter the outcome and for them to get the taste of a CL-semifinal this early in their career is great.

Even more so if we could get to the final of course but it will be a great experience regardless.

A few injuries for them. Let's hope we can get a bit of luck and sneak a result.

I don't think Hazard will start but if he does. The answer from years of watching other teams do it is following the Herrera route and kicking him!

I actually think Dave and whoever plays RWB could handle him these days.

I'd love to knock them out, especially with the sub-context of Hazard, Snake I, and Snake II (Perez -footballs enemy #1), but if we don't get to the final, i will take some solace in it not being a normal final, with little to no fans. That's the plan, but it will sure hurt if we don't make the final for a third time. If we do wow what a season this is turning into.

Yeah I know, it's just me trying to keep expectations low so it hurts less if we go out.

But obviously I hope we smash them to pieces and deep down I know we can beat them over two legs if we are at our best.

Actually Marcelo has been really good at LWB but terrible at Left back just like our Marcos Alonso. He wont start if they play a back 4 but if it is a back 3 he will start and actually be a threat offensively . He is better than Alonso on offence and probably equally as bad as Alonso on defence

My biggest fear against Reals attack is not that they will open us up. More like their trickery will suck us to give away a stupid penalty. That's when we will go into dissaray and undo any hard work we have done prior.

That was a big concern against Atletico as well, hopefully we manage to navigate it as smoothly.

Just read that Real have not lost a match for nearly 3 months, recording 12 wins and 5 draws in that time and letting in just 8 goals, Chelsea levels of defensive efficiency there.

Yikes...

I am fairly confident that we go through over the 2 legs against Real, I reckon Mount will be the key player for us because he will be operating that in between role which links our midfield to attack. Out of possession he will be dropping into midfield switching us to a 3-5-2 but in possession he will be tasked to get up and assist the other 2 attacking options which will be more of a 3-4-3, it's absolutely unreal that in the space of 2 seasons at the age of 22 he has become our most important player.

I think the energy of Mount and Kante in midfield will cause big problems for Kroos and Modric and they will find it difficult to dictate the midfield in the manner they did against Liverpool.

I would put my money on TT when he goes up against top teams. Not so much against the likes of Newcastle, West Brom, Fulham, etc.

Hopefully we defend well, that's the most important thing because if Real scores first even while we play with the 3 at the back it's going to be hard to come back into the game.
