The Premier League is to bring in a new owners' charter to stop future attempts to join a breakaway Super League.

It follows Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham agreeing to join the failed European Super League last month.

All owners will have to sign up to the new rule "committing them to the core principles" of the league with breaches punished by "significant" sanctions.

The league said "a few clubs cannot be allowed to create such division".

The Super League proposal, which also included some of Europe's biggest clubs, collapsed within 72 hours after widespread criticism from fans, players and governing bodies and politicians.

The Premier League said it is "determined" to "hold those clubs accountable for their decisions and actions".

"We and the FA are pursuing these objectives quickly and appropriately, consulting with fans and government," it said.

I definitely think points should be deducted, way over the top for peaceful demonstration.

Problem with a points deduction is over the precedent that it sets. I assume it would be in punishment for the fans that got inside the ground and onto the pitch? So in that case you are essentially charging United failure to control their fans. So does that mean next time there is a pitch invasion/trouble from fans at a game their club gets a similar punishment? If you are applying it for the trouble outside you get into a much greyer area.

Also unless United were to get a really big points deduction it would be pretty meaningless for their current season since they are comfortably in top 4 but also have little to no chance of winning the title. For a points deduction to have any real effect to their season it would need to be 10 points or more which sets quite a powerful precedent too.

It should be for causing a game to be delayed. It could also extend to the sh*thousery Pool fans pulled to attack the Madrid bus

Clubs are responsible for the security within their grounds, including the entrances. If they are not capable of controlling the crowds, it is their responsibility. It used to be, at least across Europe, that if a crowd invaded the pitch, the club would be punished and forced to play a number of games on a neutral stadium. In fact, wasn’t it Ajax that could not bring any supporter to the Bridge when we played them two seasons ago for something like that? So yes, it is fair to make the club responsible for security in their grounds and punish the club that fails at it accordingly to the problem.

They could argue as well they weren't United fans but agitators intent on causing trouble.  Would have been different if it was at a match  but it was an unofficial demo.

Has everyone seen this yet....big steps forward from the club

I don't care if the supporters can only be heard for one thing, Get our voices to tell that shower of sh*t who will ok our damn football kit design.

'We are not amused', i posted what a lot of us would like to see, in the match thread last night...

'Tongue in cheek'😉

Look at the reactions from our players and City players the other day. Neither have won the Champions League, but the joy they felt from just getting to the final was there to see, same goes with the reactions from the fans. Those at the top of these European clubs tried to take these moments away from us, the Super League would have killed the passion for the game.

I also feel that UEFA's changes with the Champions League is going to hurt the competition overall. The way it is now has worked for as long as I have been watching football, so why change something that works so well? It just feels like change for the sake of change.

It would be nice if they also let us know in advance what kit we will be wearing especially the socks. Some of us want to get organised before the CL final

As forever carefree pointed out in the real game thread, turkey is now on the uk red list so any fans allowed to go as well as club staff and players would require a 10 day quarantine.

So fans would need to miss 2 weeks of work on top of payment to get there, international sides disrupter ahead of the euros.

So given the FA, UEFA and Fifa made big noises about the importance of fans during the super league row, let's see them do the right thing for those people and move the tie to england or maybe to Hampdon park or the millennium stadium.

My preference is white heart lane or Anfield though  😉

The Shed 'Triumvirate' is a start

Not sure if a anyone has posted this on any other thread but

I know there is 2 teams Juve included that has yet to pull out. But 3 teams? How is that tournament going to work. Of course they are not going to play in it.
