Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel says midfielder Matteo Kovacic and defender Antonio Rudiger will be unavailable for his side's league game with Fulham, but could return for the Champions League semi-final second leg against Real Madrid on Wednesday.

"Before training today we thought Kovacic had a big chance to join us for Madrid," said Tuchel.

"We have had a little set back and I don't want to be too negative so let's see how he feels for tomorrow.

"For Toni [Rudiger], I am quite positive for Wednesday."

Sounds like Kova is quite a doubt for Real too then, that is a blow.

Still think we have to risk a poor result in this game and rest those who need it and could do with it, namely Dave, Silva, Pulisic, Werner, Jorginho, Kante and Mount.

Just watched the press conference and his mind set seems to be not to rest anyone. I agree with that and from previous seasons I think that is right. Don't rest players,  they don't need a rest, they need momentum

I don't think I can guess much for this one in regard to who plays. I would assume Ziyech and Kai start and perhaps Alonso and CHO aside from that maybe Kurt but he won't want to rotate too heavy since that has cost us in the past buuuut, who cares we have a home leg to play on Wednesday that could send us through to the UCL finals so for all I care he could play Tammy and Oli up top with a mid 3 of Hakim, Billy and Kai 😭😭😂

Yeah sounds like Jorgi and Kante start, and I would assume Zouma on the left to replace Rudiger. That is not ideal as his positional sense is better on the right. I would guess we see a team similar to what he wants vs Real bar Rudiger based on that press conference so I would think:

Mendy

Christensen

Silva

Zouma

Dave

Jorgi

Kante

Chilwell

Mount

Werner

Pulisic

Kovacic seems to be quite injury prone through the whole season. While we have the squad to make two strong attacking midfield lineups, there is only two good options atm for central midfield. I'm hoping we fix this problem for next season.

Hopefully we get to see some of Billy G this weekend. Kante was so massive on Tuesday and we will need him on Wednesday at 100%. If we have to pick 1 to rest and 1 to start, I'd definitely go with resting Kante and hoping that Georgi doesn't soil his britches. It would also be good to see CHO and Abraham, get some minutes as well.

CHO is 5 appearances away from 100 for Chelsea as well.

Well Leicester were not able to fluke a comeback against 10 man saints like they did against Palace so this game presents us a chance to go 2 behind them with them at home still to come.

Chance to play catch up, which means we will likely blow it...lol.

It would be a shame if we actually played this team.  Playing the same team looks good on paper but fatigue will definitely set in just like it did against Real hence our triple substitution. I expect Zouma, Alonso ,James , Ziyech and Havertz to be brought into the line up.

Lets not forget that we play Mancity 3 days after the Real game AND THE REAL GAME COULD EASILY GO TO EXTRA TIME , we need to rotate in this game unless we want to play our reserves against Mancity

Fulham have a decent away record and are quite tough away from home. It would be just like us to drop points after Leicester drop points.

With Man City up next in the PL, we really need 3 points. No slip ups.

So many opportunities to get clear, so hard to take them. I think we can beat Leicester, but can we beat Fulham? Tuchel taking the right approach in my mind. Its on us to be up for the game and to execute. Quite clearly if we can't beat relegated Fulham at the Bridge, how do we deserve to be in a Champions League final?

Can we please not f**k it up again tomorrow and just get the job done? I don't want us to watch the game go by with side to side passes for 30 minutes without creating a single decent goalscoring opportunity.

Hopefully we start like we did against Crystal Palace, bang in Lots of goals and make subs to rest players

Agreed it would be a shame which is why I have banged on about resting those who showed tiredness against Real while protecting the likes of Silva as well.

Also City played the reserves against us in the cup, guess we could pay them back by doing so in the league lol. CL draw really screwed us over for the city game.

City definitely didn't play reserves against us in the FA cup Pep just rotated his squad a tiny bit which was expected...

It was actually more than a tiny bit. He made 8 changes from the UCL match 3 days earlier. Only Dias Kdb and Rodrigo started against Dortmund and us.

With all due respect we're talking about Walker coming and and G.Jesus, look at their lineup it's still very strong and Foden came on early in the second half and later Gundogan so part from Mahrez I don't think you can argue that City was a weak team...

They can't really complain about weak squads though. They have 2 first teams. Is there any team that can say their subs is about equal in quality to their first team?

Please don't f**k this one up.

don't want to have to wring points out of City, Leicester,

Villa and a sh*te Arsenal team who seem to turn it on against us. We need momentum, not resting

come on you BLUES !
