Like it or not Lukaku is Chelsea's highest goal scorer despite being injured and not starting many games but he yet he gets all the hate!!!!

That's what I'm saying. He's our top scorer and yet not a single Chelsea fan can say with a straight face that he's had even a remotely successful season. Should tell you all you need to know.

Not frequently enough, sure. He's 7 years younger than Lukaku though.

Lukaku at Havertz age was scoring 17 goals at West Brom including a hattrick VS Man Utd, 2 goals VS Liverpool, followed by 15 goals at Everton.

Havertz is the most protected player in the fanbase. Havertz apparently gets better in the second half of the season, he doesn't for us.

Horrible VS Man Utd

Horrible VS Everton

Horrible VS Palace

Horrible VS West Ham

Average away VS Madrid

Disagree. We have a fanbase that constantly criticises our attack whilst simultaneously defend an attacking player that is an academy product.

Which ever way you look at it, our attack is poor. Mount is also a reason for it.

I don't think Havertz should be protected. He has to start becoming a lot more consistent for us, I don't think anyone here is disputing that.

With Lukaku you already know what you're gonna get. His attitude stunk at every club he's been at. Don't believe me? Ask the fans of the clubs he's been at.

Apart from his disallowed goal against Liverpool in the league cup final, he has shown nothing in a Chelsea shirt worthy of being kept around next season let alone warranting being our main man up front.

And despite that was still playing second fiddle to Shane Long.

The fact he even went to Everton when he had the chance to be in title challenging squads says everything you need to know.

He started 20 games in the PL that season.

Yeah he didn't want to sit on the bench, he wanted to go and play. I respect players who want to do that.

Livramento did a similar thing this summer.

In hindsight it could be argued Livramento was a bit overzealous leaving given Reece's injury issues and occasional need to play in the back 3.

Regarding Lukaku, first year he came back with Torres, Ba and a 32 year old Eto'o as competition, then he was offered a spot as direct understudy to Diego Costa (which would have still been plenty of minutes as Remy found out).

In a club like Chelsea you don't get a spot handed to you, the player he claims to idolise had to fight off Eidur, Crespo, Sheva, Anelka amoung others for the right to be called the main man.

Lukaku first year was under AVB where he was never used, a waste of a season.

Second season he done well at West Brom, scoring 17 goals in 20 starts.

Third season he did well again at Everton.

Forth season we bought Costa and Drogba and he probably felt he wasn't going to play much, he was probably right. Remy hardly ever played though, only if Drogba or Costa were out. I remember because i wanted Remy to start over Drogba.

I just looked Remy only started 6 league games. Lukaku was at an age where he needed to play and develop and get better, he was too good to be a third choice CF.

Same with De Bruyne.

Lukaku is a striker, Havertz is a false 9 or secondary striker. Can't compare their goal scoring rates imo.

Remy had injury issues aswell, whenever it was a completely direct choice between him and Drogs i think he got the nod more than he didn't (i actually researched it at the time). Although fair enough i did think he started more than 6 games.

Yeah thats true tbf, i forgot Remy injuries. i still think Mourinho preferred Drogba over Remy though. Mourinho would of played Drogba over Lukaku too i think if Lukaku had stayed.

Well yeah, so could you.

When Havertz plays 'up top', he operates in a similar manner to Firmino at Liverpool with him being there to create rather than be a focal point and finisher like Lukaku is. It would be like comparing Aguero's output to Bergkamp's.

He is playing as a 9 for us

read my above reply to Jack. A 'number 9' means nothing to how someone plays, it's just a position for Sky Sports to put your face on the infographic before kick off for the line up.
