Romelu Lukaku back to Chelsea - and gone again!

I think we’ll be ok with Broja & Havertz, best focus on rebuilding the defence which will take substantial fees in itself and the midfield areas.

Sod that - we need another striker. We cannot risk going into the season (one with a champions league campaign and a world cup in the middle) with a young lad who has had 3 good months and a converted atm. Utter madness.

I think who ever sanctioned / scouted / recommended Lukaku should put their hands up and admit they royally f**ked up big time.

He really is the worst ever signing Chelsea have ever made, probably one of the worse in England.

Please let me introduce you to Drinkwater, or Bakayoko. At least Rom finished as our top scoring striker, so can't ever be our worst signing

I don’t think we have a bottomless pit of funds, that is essentially where this idea stems from, A LOT of work to do with the defence and midfield, which should be priorities.

Is it anymore risky than doing what we did last summer when we just looked at the top line and panic brought?

If we can find/scout a suitable option fine but if not I'd rather we learn from our mistake last summer and hold our nerve.

Neither of them cost £100,000,000 £350,000 per week disrespected the club, praised his previous fans and wished he wasn't here. He's a grade A arse hole.

Tammy struggled big time under Tuchel

I don't remember him having much of a chance under Tuchel to be honest. He managed 6 league goals in the first half of the season under Frank. But I don't think he got many starts under Tuchel.

Tammy started a few games and looked really bad. He struggled big time with his back to goal play which was the reason why we played Giroud more and why Tuchel signed rom.

Oh dear - I fear Bambi is not the answer! The club made (in my opinion) the correct decision when selling him, and would be very worried if we look to buy back. Just because the players we replaced Tammy with have not been successful, does not make the decision to sell him any less correct. He is Arsenal level at best.

Yeah - a lot more risky. Kai gets crocked then all of a sudden we are left with a single striker for the entire season across 4 competitions. That is not the right way to go.

The system we play isn't focal point based. I remember we smashed Juve by basically telling Pulisic to run around at false 9 while Callum, James and Chilwell done the damage on the ball.

We need to learn to start taking short term hits if the main present day options are square pegs in round holes. I thought it was starting to sink in with the hierarchy during January 2020 (when we resisted panic buying the likes of Mertens, Bergwijn and Aubameyang) but the Lukaku transfer has put us back to square one.

He did indeed Bob. And, for his height, he wasn't fantastic in the air either, though that is something you can learn. For sure Tammy had a lot to work on. But in terms of finishing ability and technical ability, he was light years ahead of Werner.

Benzema gave a master class today on what a CF looks like.. don’t think lukaku can touch those levels..

Is laughable he compared himself to players like Benzema. Actually no its not it is insulting to everyone else's intelligence.

I agree, I like Tammy. Tall, fast, very mobile, good finisher but probably not the best like you said in aerial battle n link up play but I personally prefer us to keep Tammy rather than signing rom, but after I don't know maybe 4/5 games Tuchel pretty much binned him.

For Tammy, there was no reason for him to stay and proved himself here because he was good enough to start for most clubs as he has proven thar this season.

I think Giroud would have been the best one to keep if we wanted an option to mix things up when needed. He's the most intelligent tactically out of the three and we've actually had some very good fluid/pressing games with him up top despite his lack of speed.

Then again, it would have a very hard sell to him given he was wanted by one of the world's biggest clubs willing to give him a much more prominent role.

Compulsory gif of our second best forward (after Drogba) in the Roman years imo.

I love Giroud, but are you sure you don't need another 5 minutes with that?

Maybe I should have said my second favorite forward then.

I appreciated what Diego brought to the side, he was a top goal scorer and his link up with Cesc was Magic. Ultimately his time ended with us with him being an unprofessional tw@t and that does not sit well with me.

I felt Giroud brought more to the team, was a selfless player and a top pro. Compelte class act and left us in such a way. And just won another title. So admittedly I am biased towards Olly.

A bit like I am with Franco when I am asked to compare him to Bergkamp or Cantona and I say they are not fit to lick his boots...

Yea Giroud was a good team player, but for me, not even close to Costa as a striker. Giroud was on the same level at Chelsea as someone like Demba Ba or Kalou (here he is again @Valerie). Could always rely on some goals but they won't give you 90mins as a complete forward. Though at the same time, I think we got hold of Giroud too late for that.

The main problem with Costa was Conte!
