Romelu Lukaku back to Chelsea - and gone again!

Italian sources are claiming Lukaku and his representatives are meeting with Inter to try and work out a deal.

If this is true, it has to mean Tuchel/Boehly both see eye to eye regarding the Lukaku situation.

Why would they be meeting with Rom? Surley the difficult part is agreeing with Chelsea?

Or maybe it is simple. Call off the remaining 72mill we owe you and you can have him back

Normally you find out wages and if the player is interested in the move before negotiating.

Hearing some suggesting that Boehly/Tuchel informed Lukaku's reps he's free to go and want to use Lukaku as a possible player exchange at Inter, hence Lukaku's reps already speaking with Inter. Long shot but Lukaku for Bastoni or Barella would be ideal.

I hope so. I said yesterday but I can't get truly hyped for the new campaign if he remains no matter what we do incoming wise.

I mean we are destined for failure if we do.

Option A:  We forcefully play him and dumb down our system.

Option B:  We don't play him and he creates an awful dressing room environment.

Ah that would work out too nicely for us. Martinez would be a good pickup too.

How about for the real deal, L.Martinez

Bastoni and Barella were on that list.

Ok but if they are willing to get rid of them then I would ask why? If they are not good enough for Inter why are they good enough for us.

On the contrary, they're having financial problems and those two (plus Lautaro) are the only ones who can fetch them some decent money without having to sell 10+ players.

Barella and Bastoni are good players, I'd be more inclined for Barella as he can bring the same kind of energy and quality on the ball as Gallagher.

If they are having money troubles why would they consider bringing Roms huge wages on board? And exchange gets them no money unless they do something crazy like Martinez, Bastoni and Barella for 60mill plus Rom.

If Barella is like Connor why not just play Connor?

But the difference is they all have some systematic use and work hard to somewhat make up on it. Havertz up front even when he doesn't play well himself facilitates the rest of the team (ala Real away), at Juve at home Tuchel basically told Pulisic to run around at false 9 while James, Chilwell and Callum done the damage on the ball.

If Lukaku isn't scoring we're literally getting nothing out of him being on the pitch. He not only doesn't facilitate the performances of other players like Kai he restricts the fluidity and makes the set up static, he doesn't put a shift in like Mount, he doesn't press intelligently or atall like all the other attackers.

Lukaku has to score at a very huge rate (including against big opponents) for his place in the team to even begin to be justified.

Lukaku has never done that in his career .. infact very few out and out strikers do that. Kane doesn’t.. Benzema doesn’t .. Lewa does it only in patches.. you can’t blame him for not doing something has he has never done.. then this is a big big scouting mistake ..

the part where I would be worried is he doesn’t make runs or his movement is not good.. but even during the last 4-5 matches he started his movement was ok.. we just don’t find him enough

what we shouldn’t debate is he can finish.. yet we never modified our system to accommodate . I think lukaku was a very known quantity and yet we failed to optimise our system somewhere is on us too..

jorginho played more than half our matches we build up slower than Italian teams ..

lukaku made a very bad move in that interview .. and his performances dipped after that.. but of all the forward players he is more likely to score 20 goals .. even this season he is our highest scorer despite playing little..

I would rather give it a decent shot with lukaku in a proper system before recycling him.. I think players like Werner who have been given chance after chance but perform more at Bellamy levels will be first out.

I agree with you that Lukaku is still a very good st. In term of finishing and goal threat, his level is just far above all of our attacker.

However I still prefer if we just sell him. There is a clear idea on how we want to play and especially how player around him want to play. He has struggled to adapt to our pressing game and we are struggling to adopt playing with him. Lukaku is not the 1st though, people forget Tammy also struggled big time last year. There are a lot of people here who said we should have signed Haaland but that will make us look like an idiot.

With the success of kai and giroud, there is a clear idea of what works for our team in term of st. Let's just say I probably take Giroud over Diego for this team.

Right now, I think It is better for both party to move on but we need a replacement. A lot of talk about Borja but just a quick youtube search and you see his video with soton remind you of rom video with inter yet I barely see Rom doing that here with us.

Normally I don't think we would bite the bullet and sell him at a significant loss. But surely there is hope we decide to do that now with our brand new owners.

If Inter want him we should sell him if they can cough up anything over £60 million in my opinion.

Which part are you referring to? Pressing and workrate? If he wants an exception on those then he has to deliever the type of substance we saw from Hazard and what those players above deliever. I'm not talking being the same player obviously that won't happen but a similar level of impact on the team. Otherwise he's very much fair game if he's not doing the hard yards.

That's literally Harry Kane. The guy gets 10 assists a season. He's central to how Tottenham play. He brings everyone in.

If the rumours currently circulating are true and that Tuchel and the board have told him he's free to leave.

I can see Marina doing a similar deal to the Moratta one, 2 year loan with obligation to buy. If Inter take on his wages or we can somehow find a way to subside them. We have to accept it would be taking a loss which isn't the biggest issue here, it's resolving the situation for the best interest of all parties involved.

Let's say €75m obligation after two seasons of paying his wages. Surely you'd hope Inter could pay that.

For a then 31 year old? Not likely. Probably more a 50mill obligation.

Rumours have it both TT (for the huge issue he has become) and the new board (for his giant wages) want him gone and want to work with Inter to make that happen.

To that end what they want most is Rom to drop his wages without us having to subsidize him at all. Board apparently expect we are on the hook for the rest of Roms owed some 72mill transfer fee, bit don't want that massive contract on the books.

So is more about a small fee or player exchange, whatever Inter is willing to do to make this deal happen. However they won't bend on paying Rom to play for someone else.

Funny how a few of you seem to have forgot what a disrespectful tw#t this guy is,

Lazy, stupid, doesn't try, can't find space, immobile, can't handle pressure, overweight, toxic,

Really is simple get rid of whatever the cost.

Immobile....I would take him over the donkey

I think who ever sanctioned / scouted / recommended Lukaku should put their hands up and admit they royally f**ked up big time.

He really is the worst ever signing Chelsea have ever made, probably one of the worse in England.
