Romelu Lukaku back to Chelsea - and gone again!

Disagree. If you link up well with your teammates you are more likely to assist them or get assisted by them. Anyways you described Lukaku as a pure goalscorer. 11 Assists suggest he is more than that. He really seems to have evolved in this departement similar to Kane. Some of his assists were really good.

I'm still not sure we should go for him. Not sure he presses as well and works as much as TT would like. Haaland would fit that bill better on top of being younger and more promising but unfortunately Dortmund won't sell him this season.

Link up has nothing to do with assist. Let's take Diego Costa, his link up play was heavily criticized but his assist number was fine.

The way I see it, it's more about wanting someone who will be able to lead the team offensively and be hungry as hell for years to come. They may even have similar games, but Haaland just represents a better deal at the prices mentioned, be it on the field or marketing wise.

Like you said, Lukaku should've been here instead of Morata and then maybe we wouldn't have this conversation. Nowadays he's just "another" option. Not really a bad option per se, just not as exciting as getting Haaland or Mbappe. But if TT does prefer Lukaku, then by all means get the guy back to SB asap!

I don't think it is the age, I think most people simply think that Lukaku isn't that good.

I looked on Wiki, about a goal every other match consistently since his Everton days.

17 league goals would be good.

He did look awkward at Utd at times yet think each manager has to work out how he is going to get the ball in good positions.

We might need a better crosser / provider  from the Right side if he comes for me.

I still think he won't perform as well for us. He's a player that needs a team to be built around him which is what Conte did. Inter won it in a season where Juve horrendously flopped with Pirlo managing too so imo can't really judge it that well.

Still unconvinced. Plus Roman's fav striker signings have been mostly underwhelming.

On the plus side, he's not with Raiola anymore.

Selling player is not as easy as it sounds plus there is no money outside England

What? Marina has been selling players for way above their value for years. We'll easily reach at least 100m selling deadwood

I do not doubt he has quality and should score loads alongside Mount, Havertz and Werner.

Just question his mindset and his ego.

If we really are his dream club why go to United over us when Conte wanted him? Why not push to make this deal happen now?

Quote

When [Manchester United] came calling, I didn’t have to think twice. So I’m really delighted to hopefully be part of their history.’
When asked why he chose United over the possibility of a return to Chelsea, Lukaku said: ‘Who would say no to the biggest club in the world? Best stadium in England. The best fans. This is the perfect opportunity. I always said I wanted to play for a team that’s challenging for every trophy that there is.’

Lukaku talking about Utd when he joined them. Big ego and he was not very keen on Chelsea when he got the choice. Plus I don’t rate him that much. He’s good but he didn’t set the PL on fire when he was here and I doubt that Serie A has the same intensity. But overall, I think that W e need to aim to get the best.

It's not so much the goals I am worried about with Lukaku. I mean, Ronaldo still scores goals, but that alone is not enough anymore. This is why Werner hasn't been a complete bust for us even without the goals. He's helped us a lot in other areas. I'm confident Lukaku would score more goals than Werner, but if we are losing what Werner would give us, then its just going to cause different problems that can be just as damaging.

Remember how awful Costa looked once he would go through dry spells? His link up play at times was awful and he would kill our attacks. I remember often going on about it when he would stop scoring. It's not enough for strikers to just be pure goalscorers anymore, they need more to their game.

I suppose that leaves Haaland and Kane as unlikely as he is.

Don't want us to look for "bargains" that often turns out to be the excact opposite of that.

Yep, go all in to get Haaland, and if Dortmund stick to their guns don't sign some makeshift last second striker who we can't offload because his stay at Chelsea has been Drinkwater/Bakayoko-ish

Did not like hos last expierence with United where the big fish left the small pond for the ocean.

Now he is the great white over there, the man. Here he would be part of the machine, and the challange would be far tougher than staying in a inferior league.

Like I said, Ego.

This thread can be closed then.

Confirmed he's staying at Inter, from the man himself.

Hooray, totally overrated, when he ever came back to bridge as opposition player was non existent, prefer. Younger hungry player, or a proper A list striker
