Ousmane Dembele

I still think he's a bad apple.

We never learn.

But he's far more talented than Pulisic could ever dream of being.

Don't see how anyone could not want Dembele when we're stuck with Mr 4 goal a season only signed because of his nationality playing for us.

Dembele proved himself far better than Puli when he benched him at Dortmund and he'd be just as big an upgrade here.

On a free it really is a no brainer but we still need another winger and to ship out Pulisic and one of Ziyech/Werner

Why do fans get an impression “free transfers” are free? The only difference is the player and his agent will be pocketing the fee instead of the money going to a club (in this case Barca). He was demanding €30m for himself and another €15m for his agent, and you can bet he will be in our top 2 earner.

As for Mr 4 goal a season, Dembele only had 1 goal last season. He is a good player in the right system; unless Tuchel moves away from his possession style, you will find he turn into another flop as he needs space to operate.

Still cheaper than what the cost would be if there was money going to another club, as there would still be sign on fees, agent fees, and high weekly wages.

Maybe we should sign Chris Sutton or Robert Fleck again. Watching Werner, Dembele and one of them miss multiple chances a game will be like an episode of can't score won't score.

🚨A deal for French international Ousmane Dembélé has progressed in recent hours after contact was made with the player’s agent. Chelsea look to close the deal in the coming 48 hours.

Read an article that Xavi specifically utilised Dembele's creative instincts vs goal scoring ability.

Someone in mentioned a few pages back that Dembele is an asset solely on the fact he doesn't look to score, he looks to assist.

Diaz is what €45m & £56k wages, Jota is £40m & £100k wages. Both those fees are amortised over a 5yr period, so the hit on their books is about £8m each annually. Dembele pocketing €45m (will all go on our books next year at once) & £300k/w will only be a good deal if he hits Lampard type figures constantly because he is unsellable if he flops. We don’t have Roman anymore to pad our books with £50m.

Be nuts to pay him that.

Helps that Xavi plays fast players  (2 of Depay, Torres, Aubameyang & Traore) upfront next to him, and have a mini Xavi & Iniesta in Pedri & Gavi distributing the ball in midfield. His career numbers are well overrated though; 31 league goals & 44 goals in 7 seasons. Clearly an upgrade on what we have.

Where did you get this?

The difference is Dembele is a creative player, he isn't a goal scorer,  we have a massive problem with actually creating chances and have done for years and he's as good as they come in that regard.

Pulisic gets the criticism because he's such an awful footballer in every other way, he can't create space with his dribbling or beat a man and he's such a poor passer and creates absolutely nothing for his team mates people have created this myth that he's some kind of decent goal scorer or decent finisher despite him averaging 4 goals a season and being a poor finisher every year in his 7 year career.

Dembele likely won't score 15 a season but will be the creative spark this team needs to create chance after chance like Liverpool and City do,  now we just need another winger (Raphina, Neymar, Mane, Sterling etc) who is a proven goal scorer and we'll look a completely different team with the ball next season.   Exciting times.

Far better numbers than Pulisic could dream of having to be fair.  Though in Puli's defence he did miss a lot of games after Dembele benched him at Dortmund. (And I make it 37 league goals and 54 in total in that time)

Hopefully those Dembele numbers are off. I wouldn't mind doing a deal though for Dembele, where he pockets €15m and we pay him £200k/w-£250k/w. Sell Pulisic with his £175k/w wages for 50m+.

I don't remember where but I had read we offered him 175k a week. Does not mean that is the final deal but that would be better imo.

Don't trust goal mate, trust @Gol15 😉

I could care less if he hits 15 a season. His technical abilities and creativity are so outstanding that if he's fit he probably starts for most of the big boys. Rumours are we may try again for Hakimi - If for whatever reason we pulled that off and our right side consisted of Dembele, Hakimi, and James; defenders may as well just take a nap.
