Dusan Vlahovic

Simple fact is with Nkunku going down we need another person up top as backup. I'm not overly enamoured but he scored 14 goals in all comps which is 5 more than any of our team managed whilst playing in an allegri team and prob the worst juve team in a while. I'm willing to give him a shot if it also means we can get that lumbering fool luCACKu off our books.

Jackson can also play inside left, although I thought he was brilliant through the middle.  Bringing in a striker does give us some options with Jackson due to his versatility.

Could be a different option in attack

My concern with him is he would come because of Lukaku. He knows it, the squad knows it, fans know it, Pochettino knows it.

I don't get this, he's been linked with us all season. Even when Lukaku was more or less heading to Inter we still had Vlahovic links. It feels like we are going at great lengths to not like a transfer because we don't rate the player.

How do you know it, how does the squad know and how do fans know it. The only people know are the ones who are making the decisions and deals like this are not uncommon.

Dybala is a good example, he wanted to stay at Juve and they did not renew his contract. He went to Roma and is still one of the best players in that league, time is short in football.

You are just assuming this though?

How do we know he does not want to come here and Juve are in financial trouble, they spent a big fee on him and they probably want to save themselves from big future payments. They are thinking short term not long term to make ends meet. His injury is the only worry but if Pochettino wants him then he fits our transfer stratgey, he's only 23 years old....

The general feeling on this forum is that nobody rates him but if this forum was in charge of signings it would be based on youtube clips and twitter opinions.

Let's just wait and see what happens, if Pochettino wants him then it's a good signing.

Like I said we may all have it wrong but the whole rumours thread is mainly speculation is it not?  None us really know I'm only going off whatever nonsense the media is spinning, could all be rubbish.  Its claimed he wasnt interested in the move a few weeks ago and we weren't interested in the player, now its all change.

We have to back the manager yes, but that doesn't mean its a guaranteed good signing.  If we went with the general feeling on this forum regarding Lukaku we'd be in a much better position.  Sometimes you can't help but say "I have a bad feeling about is" I'm just not convinced by it.  If it happens I would love to be proven wrong.

If Vlahovic comes and he is a total dud we didn't really get rid of Lukaku. Vlahovic would always be there to remind us about him.

Juventus cannot buy Lukaku if they can't offload Vlahovic, who by the way is not wanted by Juventus after just one season.

Now we want to offload Lukaku and the only way to do it is to buy this chronically injured unwanted striker from Italy.

What we are doing here is we are optimistic. No, we are blindly optimistic. The only way Lukaku is helping us as a club is when the unthinkable happens and Vlahovic is excellent 20+ goals scoring sensation. Atm it looks nothing like that. He is chronically injured unwanted player.

This shouldn't be the case, two different players with different personalities. It would be unfair to compare Vlahovic to Lukaku if he gets a tough start, no player would be happy in that scenario, regardless of his situation.

We have had players that struggled with injuries but that managed to contribute a whole lot when they actually played and Vlahovic despite Allergi and his injuries had 10 goals and 2 assists in the league last season which is more than any of our own players so that alone does speak of his quality. Prior to getting injured he scored 6 goals in 10 matches and had 1 assist, I would be happy to trust in Broja that has also been injured but if it happens that Vlahovic is fine with having a smaller role while Jackson is the starter then it's maybe not bad business for us to get rid of Lukaku in this way.

A meeting on Monday brought #Chelsea and Juventus closer, with the clubs agreeing to €30million + €5m in bonuses on top of Romelu Lukaku for Dusan Vlahovic. It is now up to the Blues to accelerate with the swap deal.

Given Nkunku, is this more acceptable and needed?

The guy doesn’t want to leave Juve, and he will be coming here as one of our highest earners. If he ends up here it’s as a guaranteed starter.
Didn’t he just get injured again? I’d rather the club go for an Aspas, Fullkrug or Horta, older players on low wages with one final shot at the big stage that will not rock the boat.

If we go for this, it just shows how absolutely desperate we are to get rid of Lukaku.

It also shows how desperate Juventus are to similarly get rid of Valhovic LOL

"Lose / Lose "

If he does sign, and is fit, and given he is probably going to be on big money, I expect he will start, and Jackson will play on the wing.

I don't see both Jackson and Vlahovic starting though. Lukaku is talking to Juventus and the offer is there for us to get rid of him, it's very tempting and even if Vlahovic is a high earner he can't be worse for the dressing room than Lukaku. If we could just sell Lukaku to Juventus without any player swaps that would be great though but Juventus is a mess of a club.

My concerns here is why we are supposedly swapping Lukaku plus cash for Vlahovic. Lukaku might be a dud and an ingrate here but he is a more prolific striker than Vlahovic.. also if we are stuck with Lukaku, why not give him a chance in the team al least until January and reassess. There is no bridge to burnt not to be remade and I daresay that if Lukaku joins the team and score 20 goals till January, we all be singing a new song. Having said that, Pochettino might want to try Ian Maatsen in Nkunku's role at least against Liverpool before making a decision on him. I don't know how quickly broja can be ready in case of an Injury to Jackson ( God forbid) but if it happens, it wiuld be the height of foolishness to keep Lukaku out of the squad when he is still been paid obscene amount of money. Now that he has burned his bridges at Inter and there appears to be no one dumb enough to take him,  who is to say he won't knuckle down come good for us... As a sort of up yours to Inter and Juve..

Funny you should say that. That is the very thing burned here. Even Pochettino admitted he will never see Lukaku. He said something along the lines of "I think we all know he won't come back" in the pre-season tour.

I don't want that manboy around the club nor Vlahovic as there is so much negativity around him as well.

Where's this negativity? The only negative thing I can think about him is that he's potentially carrying an injury. We apparently want Olise and he's out for 2 months, Vlahovic is starting for Juventus in a pre-season friendly right now.

A lot of this so called negativity has been manifested because people don't rate the player.

Apparently the clubs are in agreement with the 30m + Lukaku for Vlahovic but no personal terms have been agreed upon, Pochettino doesn't seem to want Vlahovic and Vlahovic wants to be in the starting lineup and play CL football, all of a sudden.

So basically it sounds like the clubs just want to make business while our manager and the player in question would be very unhappy if this swap transfer happens.

Personally I would give Broja the chance to be the second option, he had an injury and would be perfect for this role this season and then he can grow and even fight for the starting lineup.

If not Vlahovic then a nkunku replacement is stulll needed and yes I know Vlahovic is a 9 not a 10 but you can play with two 9s about the same as with  with no 9s.

Something didnt quite sit right with me for Vlahovic, good player but seems to have flop written all over him, especially for us.

Where does that leave us though? Bairstow surely wont stay despite reports, Broja is there but apparently Pochettino wants another striker?

Tricky to see what profile of player he would want, I cant see us spending big money, there arent many of those options left other than Kolo Muani who seems to either psg or staying at Frankfurt anyway.

Washington has only player 12 senior games, so he will definitely go on loan.

So maybe we get another player that is a bit under the radar, although Datro Fofana surely couldve stayed if that was the case?

Is Elye Wahi or Gift Orban overkill for strikers that age?

Jackson

Broja (Not sure what is happening with him)

Fofana (Loan)

Wahi/Orban?

Anyone else out there? No one seems to want to touch Jonathan David, would it still be possible to hijack Kudus as well as landing Caicedo amd Olise.

Interesting few weeks ahead.
