April 14, 20224 yr So who is out there, not that well buy him, but the need is huge, to play the ball forwards, fast, and accurate it’s a must to utilise Werner, pulisic etc, I can only think of maybe Coutinho who fits the bill, maybe Erickson??
April 14, 20224 yr If given the chance I'd still sign Modric in a heartbeat, or De Jong if we're taking age in consideration. But realistically I wouldn't mind if we take a shot at Dominik Szoboszlai or Dani Olmo from Leipzig, though both usually play a little bit further on the field. Either one of these guys or Tielemans and Tchouameni for me.
April 15, 20224 yr I know many in here don’t consider him to be Chelsea material, but I’d still give Billy Gilmour a chance. He’s got a wide range of passes, he is young, and can develop into a Fabregas type of player. Other than that, in the market, I’ve no idea of who could fill the role, there don’t seem to be many around and most are getting into the older age like Modric or Eriksen.
April 15, 20224 yr Milinkovic Savic is a beast, he is the Lampard type of player, can score, pass, assist and has a big presence. 27yrs old and lazio want to sell. They are interested in loftus cheek so we could potentially get a decent deal.
April 15, 20224 yr Like I have said many times at this point, I would be worried about signing any player in their mid to late 20's that have played pretty much their whole senior career in Italy.

April 15, 20224 yr Yup, Milinkovic Savic seems the best one out there. Tchouameni would be brilliant but isn’t he more of a defensive midfielder?

It's a shame his loan move hasn't worked out this season, would have hoped for him to kick on. I still think he has a future here but if we aren't planning on keeping him then hopefully Lamps keeps Everton in the league and we can loan him to Frank.
April 15, 20224 yr I still have trust in Gilmour, his loan failed for so many reasons other than his ability that it almost doesn't make sense to dismiss him. I always wonder how would other wonderkids like Gavi and Pedri fare in that Norwich setup and it doesn't seem very likely that'd be much different. Hoping he comes back even stronger mentally and very hungry to show how he matured in his first tough year career wise.

April 15, 20224 yr Don't have anyone to offer myself but @Munkworth has had things to say about James Ward-Prowse.

April 15, 20224 yr We should try to buy a DM that could acctualy tackle and pass the ball. ruben neves from wolves or maybe Phillips from dirty leeds.

Arguably you could say the same about Jorginho when we signed him and he has rarely looked like a player who merited his fee. It is a sweeping statement but the Italian league is so poor just now that I'd be very wary of spending big on players in it. The fact that Abraham has stats to give Van Basten a boner tells its own story. I wanted us to gamble on Coutinho when he was available. We missed that boat but last year but he is still an option to improve our midfield and we should get in the queue.

Milinkovic Savic is the best midfielder in Italy in my opinion and has being for a number of years now. His stats are fantastic playing for lazio, imagine having quality players around him. He is the closest player you can get to de bruyne. Anyhow I don't think we have ever shown interest in him and i believe he will go to either juventus or psg. Ps: forgot to mention that if we were to go for him we can sweeten the deal even further by including jorginho since Sarri is the lazio manager now.

The same Jorginho who guardiola wanted and won the uefa men's player of the year last year, champions league and euro 2020! I think he has being greatly under appreciated and respected in here. Coutinho started well but his best is well behind him, gallagher can play that role and would hate it if Coutinho where to block his path. Also in regards to italian football Veratti was signed from seria B team called Pescara that no one has ever heard of. Let's not forget that Salah and Cancelo arguably two of the best players in the Premier league came from Seria A too. Every transfer is a gamble but it needs to be a calculated gamble. Most in here could see before hand that Lukaku was not what we needed, although he was playing well for Inter. Cheaper options and younger from seria A would be Bennacer of Ac milan, and Kristian Asllani of Empoli a defensive midfielder but extremely talented that has the interest of Inter and Bayern munich. Tchoumani I see like an Essien type of player, although i must admit i don't follow much of the French football. Edited April 15, 20224 yr by Gentian

April 15, 20224 yr Just now, Ballack & Blu said: Didn’t Salah come from us, cos Mourinho didn’t spot that Messi type potential..🤔 It was Basel, us than he improved alot with Fiorentina before moving to Roma where he exploded and making his move permanent so I think the mistake was not Mourinhos but the boards that didn't see his potential in Italy. It would be similar to selling gallagher and broja now having played so well on loan without giving them a chance to play for us.

We missed that boat but last year but he is still an option to improve our midfield and we should get in the queue. Jorginho has been the same player in the PL as he was in Serie A, literally doing the same and even having the same role under Sarri here in his first season without any difference so I'd say his fee was paid off since without him Sarri wouldn't be able to play the way he wanted us to play to begin with and that in turn brought us back into the top 4 + Europa League title. Man City bought Joao Cancelo from Serie A and he has been playing over 40 games in the recent seasons for them just like Jorginho has done for us so that's 2 players that came from Serie A to top PL teams and that have been starters for multiple seasons. A league being poor or poorer than another doesn't matter when talking about players that stand out, imagine if Man United hadn't signed Bruno Fernandes because the Portuguese league is pretty poor in comparison to the PL... The reality is that he has been the same player regardless and Milinkovic-Savic stands out in his own league as well and if for example Man United sign him, he's the same age as Bruno so then they would have a midfield where 2 top quality players are going to play together while being in their best years. Lastly if you ask me Abraham was a better striker for us than Werner when just looking at the scoring ability, he is a real poacher and in Serie A he's getting the service inside the box and finishing chances, that ability he had shown for us in his debut PL season when he scored 15 goals as a 22 year old so it's natural that he keeps getting better. We did sell him for 40m euros to Roma and I'm sure that you won't find many players that have been more expensive for them than that.
