Back home, kebab on the stomach and a bit more calm. Great day out with the Chels again, few beers before heading to Wembley, outsang the scum in the tube and we were in for a great game. First half we were pants, but the dippers were not very good either. Second half and extra time I thought that we were the better team. We dominated, created good chances and didn’t let them get on to us much. You’d never have thought that they were that team all the media pundits are raging on about! And then the penalties happened. It’s sh*t to loose again to that vermin on penalties, but can’t say anything other than I’m proud of the Chelsea. We were a heavily depleted team, we had to play RLC as a false 9 and then change him for f**king Ross Barkley, and the “best ever team in the world according to the media f**kers” could not get a leg over us. We lost with our heads up, were the better team on the pitch and finally came short on the penalty shootout. The dippers should be sh*tting themselves as Real Madrid, and Benzema in particular, are going to make mince meat out of them. Quadruple my arse, they are just not that good after all and won’t win the PL nor the CL.

They are lucky, but you cannot underestimate the importance of luck mate.

A slight swing in luck and we have both the league and FA cups and our season is a big success instead it is a failure.

Glad you had a great day out. Problem is these twats will probably win the CL on a penalty shoot out and become the greatest English team since sliced bread to win 3 trophies on 3 penalty shoot outs...that's how lucky the 'victims' are.

Disappointed is an understatement.

Tuchel did everything right, even picking Lukaku, but he just isn't good enough, first touch, and pace has vanished out of sight. The saga must end, he has to make room for younger hungrier players.

Shame Dave had to be the only one to miss the target, you have to force the keeper to save your pen, never been a fan of defenders taking any of the first 5.

Reece James is our best player, find 9 more fighters like him and we'll clean up..

To be fair James and Alonso are technically defenders and they are superb at pens.

Cannot forget LeBouf either Coco, a master of it 😉

Yes but they score regularly over a season, Dave might have one shot on goal per month.

But they are not as lucky as Real Madrid in Europe. City will get the PL, I think that’s a given, and Real Madrid have shown to be that team in the CL I keep banging on about, never gone til the final whistle. The dippers have only managed to beat us, who are nothing great this season, on penalties. Any other team turn them over easily, ffs Villarreal had a good go at them!

What a player and leader he was.

I weep remembering not only the obvious JT, Lamps, Ballack etc but then the lesser praised leaders like Maka, Ricky, Paulo, Essien, Alex, Brana.

Huge personality, huge leadership. Now we have Lukaku, Werner et al...I weep again.

I called their quadruple a few months ago, and not much has gone against them since. One loss in that time, a second leg meaningless one to Inter.

They don't have to beat Real, pens would do. City still have West Ham and Villa to face and they have no CBS for either.

Lucky Liverpool.

2022 has been crumy. Every month has gotten worse and worse, I don't expect Real and City to both help offer a crumb of comfort, and I'd need both two to even find it a crumb.

Either a league or CL win is too much for them.

I don't even know what to say anymore. I would rather have not got to these finals at all.......3 in a f**king row. It's too much, f**king brutal.

I would rather 3 defeats in the FA Cup than a CL final loss

What did Lukaku do wrong exactly? He has his faults but the performance was there.

I also disagree entirely to the notion Tuchel did everything right. Why was Lukaku taken off? Why wasn’t Werner brought on to give us a more direct element against a tired Liverpool back line? Salah, Diaz, Robertson, VVD, and Fabinho were all out of the game by ET. Why did we opt for more midfielders instead of strikers?

For a chance at revenge and actual silverware I felt we didn’t take the initiative at all. And be careful what you wish for with ‘young and hungrier players’ because what you get is much of the same. No leadership and inexperience at the highest level.

Even if that happens, the victims still live in Liverpool and they’re still responsible for Heysel and Hillsborough.

Havertz injured, Werner ill, that leaves Lukaku, what was Tuchel meant to do.

What did Lukaku do wrong ? are you kidding me ? iv'e seen brick walls with a better touch. If you think Lukaku had a good game, i can tell you most of the fans in the ground didnt.

Best player in yellow was one of our youngest and hungriest, i wish for much the same of him please.

But if Werner was Ill it just makes it all the stranger to take Lukaku off. Why take off our only attacking outlet? Especially with VVD off?

Sorry but I would’ve felt much more comfortable going into the latter stages than bloody RLC and Ross Barkley. Lukaku is sh*t but he at least threatened and had some decent link up play to Pulisic who beautifully f**ked up.

This defeat hurt but it becomes even more embarrassing considering Liverpools best players went off.

Still gutted losing to these lot AGAIN on penalties, three FA Cup finals in a row, can’t get my head around it but I’m going to focus on the positives more than anything. Two cup finals lost to Liverpool on penalties, it shows we aren’t a million miles away from the top 2 like a lot of people think, again our shocking finishing cost us. Next season after a few signing we could be right up there

Maybe in head to head's and footballing ability we are close, but when it comes to the mental side of the game, I think we are well off. I don't think this squad is anywhere close to being ready to challenge Liverpool and City in the league. Liverpool have our number in the crunch games and both City and Liverpool turn up to every game with an intent to win and make it happen. We turn up to most of our games like something is holding us back.......possibly fear.

Scott's right mate. In a one off, 90 to 120 minutes of football sure we can match them.

Over the course of the season we have a losers mentality. So many have said "oh if only Chilwell had not played vs juve"... like seriously we lose our LWB and we fold? Mentally weak.

Klopp was mocking us when he said we are mentality warriors, the sly git.

3 cup finals in a row mate, had anyone told us that would happen when we had JT, Lamps and Drogs in their pomp we would have called them mad.

But really though when do we mentally fold in big games? I think this season we’ve had major issues that have ended up being our downfall whether it be covid, injuries or the club sale. Next season I think with a few tweaks and the loan players we have coming back in we can genuinely go for the league. All this Liverpool hype overshadows the fact that last season they had much less serious issues as us and scraped 4th, sometimes you just need a little bit of luck and unfortunately for us this season we’ve had none.

Real Madrid at home.

City at home.

City away.

Man United at home (Uniteds history makes them a big game for us).

Man United away.

Arsenal at home.

Juventus away.

That's just this season.

My take now with a bit more time to ponder.

We had one day less rest and Kova was touch and go and today he did no dribbles suggesting all was not well.

I noticed neither Rudiger or Silva ventured forward in open play, Rudiger is prone to have a shot from distance yet not today. I assume TT was dead scared of Liverpool on the counter and perhaps rightly so.

We barely got any support to our front men, Alonso was well marshalled so when he went forward he would get corners instead of good crosses. Our corners were poor either under-hit or too close to Allison.

Pulisic had a couple of chances and he was not clinical same for Mount too.

Noticed when Ziyech came on he went left yet his best moments this season have been on the right, surely Mount should have gone left.

Thought today going to penalties was bad for football like a re-run of the League Cup with the same result.

Klopp has been at Liverpool far longer than TT at Chelsea and so has moulded his team into an effective unit.

It maybe this match will take a toll on those players that went off early and were set to face RM and prevent the triple or even quadruple,

Well, that hurts.

However more than the lottery loss is the fact that the game was another bit of evidence that we are turning (have turned?) into bottle jobs.

There used to be a time when we could rely on us, and our big game players to dig in and deliver - this team doesn't have "that" (whatever that is)

It isn't bad luck to lose so many finals - it is mentality and quality.

Anyway - the season is almost done, a new era is beginning. Would have been nice to send of RA with a cup, but alas, it wasn't meant to be.
