What exactly is the problem with me postulating that Mendy had one great, or Malouda season, but that will be it as I don't believe he is an elite level goalkeeper like say Tibo or Neuer?

A lot of the saves were routine/hit at him. Only the Salah 1 v 1 was impressive. But he did pluck a lot of balls out of the sky, played a great game in general but yeah an exaggeration to say he won them the game.

So what if the snake beat Liverpool, we’ve draw and lost games against teams having one shot against us. f**k them, their forwards bottled it Werner style and they were not the better team.

I thought Modric was also amazing. Even when he was knackered, he still controlled that midfield. In a lot of ways, the qualities of these older players come out more when they reach their final years, we are seeing it now with Thiago Silva. They understand that their legs can't do what they used to do, so it comes down to their football brain and all of the coaching they have taken on board over the years playing at this level, it's great to watch.

pool wanted it on City for the last title run in they won by a slim margin. Did not happen.

finally Salah publicly declared wanting it ahead of this game. Did not happen.

 I actually thought Real Madrid looked more dangerous. Liverpool had them beat on the tempo side of the game, but that Liverpool defence was constantly one decent ball away from being cut open. I also thought Modric dominated that midfield with Casemiro taking control of the defensive side of the game in the second half. It never really looked like Liverpool were going to score.
